The relief Rose felt when she saw his eyes flutter open weakly was almost palpable in the air. Of the few people that she’d actually care about losing, Lucius was certainly one of them. He’d been a good friend and an unofficial advisor to her for years now; not to mention, they also happened to agree on practically everything, and he was a good shoulder to lean on when she needed it. Rose’s eyes drifted to the wound that had been wrapped with a makeshift bandage and immediately stuffed away any and all weakness or concern for her friend so that she could think rationally and act. “Do not try to move,” she ordered, and then she stood back up so that she could flag someone down to help. Rose was strong, but Lucius was big and bleeding and there was no way she’d be able to carry him on her own. “You and you, with me, now,” she said, directing the commands at two familiar Ironhaven soldiers. They immediately fell in step behind her as she turned back to the table. “Pull him out. Gently. I need to bind his wound more tightly and then you must take him to the infirmary.” As she finished speaking, the soldiers crouched by the table, preparing to slide the older man out from under it.
He locked eyes with Rose, he couldn’t manage any words, but his gratitude was clear in his expression. He screamed out in pain as two guards moved towards him and began moving him out from underneath the table where he had hidden himself. Even the slightest movement felt like hell as a burning pain radiated from the slash on his leg through the rest of his body. “These damn pirates will pay for all of this.” He said through gritted teeth towards Rose before being carried off by the guards towards the infirmary. This was definitely his last straw. This was fucking personal now. And Lysandra? Gods! Where was she? Thinking of his daughter distracted him from the pain. “Have you seen my daughter?” he asked her, frantic worry obvious in his tone. “If they hurt her....” He trailed off, his eyes fluttering shut for a moment, the loss of blood getting to him.
