Summary: You were one of the first elves to be created, a representation of sunlight itself. You remember being happy⊠Until the day Sauron came and took that happiness from you⊠For years you were his captive until the day you escaped. You spent decades hiding until he found you again⊠Now you are trapped under the watchful gaze of a uruk with a tragic past.
You lived in the remote forests of the Southlands.
Any elves who knew you before your fall would call you crazy. You lived a quite life away from everything except for the creatures that you lived alongside with. You kept your garden healthy and your small home tidy from dust and cobwebs.
But you didnât mind the loneliness, you quite liked it after the years you spent prisoner toâŠ
Your hand stopped moving as you stared at the half chopped carrot that you needed for the stew. A raven who youâve come to call Mys, sat comfortable at the open kitchen window, watching you.
âItâs nothing.â You assured your little friend, âJust memories surfacing again.â
Mys seemed content with your words and you carried on with your quiet afternoon and your quiet life.
Quiet⊠You enjoyed the word now.
But life never remains quiet for long.
It was the dead of night when the orcs came giving you no warning to fight as they tied you up and threw a sack over your head. You screamed trying to free yourself from their tight grip. They shoved you into a cage where you remained for days.
You didnât bother asking where you were being taken too. You had a feeling it was to whatever new master they were serving now. Mys followed from a distance squawking every once in a while to let you know that he was still there.
Instead of repeating your past mistakes and falling into a state of panic, you picked at the weak point of the cage each night. Always when the orcs were too loud in their celebrations to hear you. It was the fourth night that you felt a wave of relief wash over you as you weakened one of the corner walls. You waited for the shouts to come in before you kicked it down and made your escape.
You thought luck was on your side once more as you slipped out of the cell and into the trees running as fast as you could away from the orcs. You followed the sound of Mysâs faint squawks, making a sharp right. They journeyed North so I need to cut across the river behind me to make it back to my home. You devised your plan as you slipped between trees. You almost felt as if this was too easy⊠You hated being right.
Just as you made it onto a small dirt road you were swept up onto a horse and fear struck through you. You struggled to get free, digging your elbow into the captors side. He didnât feel like an orc so maybe he was humanâŠ
âFaica umbar.â poor fate. He spoke in elvish, his voice deep as an ocean drowned in the night sky.
An elf⊠You thought in shock hearing your native tongue be spoken to you. You arched your back, barely making out his face in the night, but you could see his dark curls, âAni lerya!â release me. You cried out to him.
âLosto vae.â sleep well. Was all he said before you felt a sharp sting across the back of your head and your world went dark.
He was there⊠The elf you laid eyes upon in the forest was here watching as you were dragged into the depths of the hidden mountain. Twisted in his looks as he was, you could still make out the remnants of the elf he used to be.
He spoke no words to you, nothing to comfort your fear as you were dragged by orks deeper into the tunnels⊠Deeper to their master. You felt betrayed by an elf you didnât even know.
âAh. So you have found her.â His familiar voice praised the orks as they tossed you down at his feet, at the bottom of the steps he stood atop of. Always looking down upon you.
âSauâ SauronâŠâ Your voice trembled in fear as you crawled back away from him, âYou⊠You were dead. You are dead. YouâŠâ
âYou always had poor aim.â He pulled back his tunic to reveal a long scar from the dagger I used that nightâŠ
You shook your head in disbelief as you whispered, âĂâŠâ noâŠ
âMy lovely verÄ«.â wife⊠âHow youâve tried so very hard to hide yourself away. Didnât I tell you?â He crouched down, towering over your form, âYou can never escape meâŠâ His grin was twisted, âYou promised me everything once. I intend to hold you to that promise until your last breath.â
âI never spoke my vows.â You flared as you clutched onto your side with your right arm, âI am no more yours than the goodness you claim to have. SĂșrĂ« tĂșla cendeletyallo.â wind pours from your mouth. You spat at the ground.
He didnât like that, not with the way his grin immediately fell from his face. He withdrew from you as he stood, turning to the throne he oh so loved, âMatters not. We are still bound in blood.â He sat on his throne and looked at you calmly, âYou will always be mine.â
And deep down you knew he was right for who would save an elf without a name or family to run back too? Still you refused him.
You glared at him, âNĂĄtyĂ« necindo.â you are without heart.
âTake her to her cell. It will be your punishment until you prove to be the wife that I will make you be.â He motioned towards the dark elf who silently obeyed without question.
The elf took your left arm and guided you out of the stone room. You put up no fight as he led you. You couldnât make a move of escape if you wanted to⊠Not with the orcs that lingered at every corner with weapons as sharp as diamond. He led you into a cell that had nothing but a small caught and an empty pot in the corner.
âAn ngell nĂźnâŠâ please⊠You whispered and grabbed onto his arm before he could leave, âEdraith enni.â save me⊠you begged, âI cannot do what he wants of me. You do not understand, this world will suffer under him please.â
He stood there for a moment before stepping out of your cell. An orc closed it as the elf walked away. You grabbed onto the bars calling out to him, âAt least tell me your name elf!â You said, but he didnât head your words.
You watched as the fire burned out with tears in your eyes. You were right back to where you started⊠Back to what you hated⊠Darkness.
You dreamt of the day he first found you by a creak in the mountains. You barely knew the world only just being created, but you left a trail of light wherever you went.
âI have always wondered if sunlight could take the form of a beingâŠâ Those were the first words he had ever spoken to you.
You were curious as to how you could understand him⊠âI have not yet met another who looks as I doâŠâ Your voice trailed off. You were used to the creatures of the forest, but not another like yourself, âWho are you?â You asked as you stepped towards him.
âYou may call me Sauron.â His smile was gentle, lulling you into a feeling of safety⊠A trap.
Days slipped into months and you refused to take any gifts from him. You knew the hidden meanings behind Sauronâs gifts of food and warmer clothing. He was nothing but a snake charmer, using trickier to get what he desired. So you kept to the promise you made to yourself and stayed rooted to your cell. That is until one day he grew impatient by your lack of progressâŠ
âThis didnât have to be difficult⊠You used to be so obedient, frail like the first flower that blooms after a harsh winter⊠Delicate.â Sauronâs voice startled you from your slumber.
It was still dark, just like the first time you had met him in that forest all those years ago. Times were different then and you⊠You didnât know who he was until it was too late.
âFrom the bottom of my heart I wanted to make this as painless as possible for you, but you just wouldnât listen.â He mused as he shook his head, âBut you were always stubborn, my precious sundrop.â
In a second he snapped his fingers and light filled your vision. It was then that you realized you were no longer in your cell, but in a room shackled to a stone table. You tried to wiggle yourself free as you looked at him with panic, âWhat are you going to do to me?â
He had a strange sense of calm as he spoke, leaving a chill down your spine.
âEverything.â
Adar checked on his children as he walked through the tunnels. It had been a day like any other, but there was a looming darkness that filled the air and left his children restless. He embarked on his rounds and that was when he heard it. His ears twitched as he listened to the faint scream that lingered through the tunnels. Could it be one of his children? He could only follow the noise to find out.
As he drew closer, taking different paths further from where his children and Sauron dwelled he found the mountain becoming colder⊠darker⊠It reminded him of the years when he was first taken from his home. That chilling sensation made him want to stop. He almost did, but then he heard it again.
This time he could clearly tell it was a womanâs voice and he vaguely wondered if it was the elf that his children had brought to Sauron many moons ago. He found out quickly that it was a when he turned the corner to find that elf screaming in painâŠ
âAn ngell nĂźn!â please⊠You arched off of the chair as he surrounded you with fire. Your skin burned with each flicker of flame that licked your skin.
There was a hint of confusion in his voice as he spoke, âThe elixir I gave you should have changed your body temperature by now⊠You used to glow like sunlightâŠâ He poured like a child when his favorite toy is taken away, âDo you feel any different?â
You sobbed as you pleaded, âPlease make it stop! Please!â You cried, âI canât take this, it burns!â
He hummed curiously as he circled your body, âFlames never used to hurt you before⊠How strange.â He watched you for a minute longer before he tsked in disappointment and with a wave of his hand, he dispersed the flames.
âI was sure that it would work⊠I suppose I will have to make a few tweaks to the elixir... Better luck tomorrow!â He clapped his hands and turned, âJust the one I wish to see!â He regarded the elf and beckoned him inside the room, âTake her back to her room and I expect her here every night to continue my experiment.â
Adar took off the shackles on your wrist before carefully lifting your unconscious body from the stone slab.
âAdar.â Sauron called out to him though his tone lacked any humor and lightness he had before. It had the dark elf pausing in his step to look back at his master.
âMy verÄ«...â wife⊠âShe will be under your watch and care.â Sauron ordered, âAnything happens to her and it will be your children who will unfortunately pay for your misdeeds. Do you understand?â
âI doâŠâ
Adar walked through the tunnels, as he always did, but this time a heavy weight settled in his chest as he looked down at the elven maiden he carried. His life and his childrenâs lives were now intertwined with yours and any wrong move could cost him everything.
Summary: You did Sauronâs bidding because of a promise he made and when he was killed by Adar you were left with nothing⊠Or so you thought.
You didnât know how long you had been kept in this prison, but you grew used to the dark, the lack of flames from torches you grew so accustomed to while living in the mountain. Now you were casted to the cold stones beneath Sauronâs chambers all because you had given him what you had promised⊠Power.
And you waited like any good servant would for his promise in return⊠One he did not give⊠Yet. You would constantly remind yourself. He will keep his promise, he will.
âMy children told me there was one prisoner who refused to die.â A voice you have heard countless of times since you were taken, âIston i nĂźf gĂźn.â He said. I know your face.
You knew his as well. You would admire him from a far as you both served Sauron in your own ways, never speaking to one another, but always there. You grew curious of the once elf now forged by darkness itself and created into a creature of the shadows.
It was his voice that intrigued you the most as it was the only thing you could truly hold onto here. A gruff and sad voice that you would hear in your dreams sometimes when the nights got too cold or the loneliness settled deep in your bones⊠Not that you would ever share that secret with anyone.
âI am an elf. Malnourishment does not kill me⊠You should be aware of that yourself⊠Elf.â You muttered quietly, your voice scratchy from the lack of use.
âUruk.â He corrected you.
âHas⊠Sauron forgiven me?â You whispered brokenly as you blinked up at him, âIââ You coughed, âI did not mean to fail him. I swear. I didnât have enough⊠I can try again. I can do better. Please tell him I can do better.â Your pleas were only met by silence and you watched him cautiously as he passed you a mug filled with water.
âSauron is gone.â He replied, stepping back as he watched you gulf down the water in barely a second.
Your heart fell at his words, âHe will come back for me then.â You murmured, shackled to the stone wall, âWe have a deal.â
âWill he?â There was amusement in his voice, âIt has been months since he had you chained down here.â
Months? Your throat felt dry again and you looked down at the now empty cup in your hands. Had it really been that long? âHe could be continuing his plan.â You pressed wanting to believe that your wish will be fulfilled, âHim being gone doesnât mean anything. He will return.â
âHe could be...â He retorted, his gaze trailing over the tattered dress that you had been left in, âOr he could be dead.â
âHe is not.â You seethed, your gaze snapping back to his.
âHe is.â His grin was barely reckognizable but it was there.
âYour lies do not sway me.â You looked away from him, âSauron isnât dead. He canât be, he isââ
âI killed him myself.â He proclaimed and he watched you lunge at him, the only thing stopping you was your chain.
âYouâŠâ Your breath caught in your throat as the first feeling that filled your chest was pure happiness. The joy that your master was finally gone and that you were free to do whatever you wished⊠To leave even, but then the loss settled in as you realized your wish would never be fulfilled. You would be left yearning for an eternity all because of a stupid elf.
âHow could you.â You growled out as you slammed your fist into the ground, âTraitor!â You screamed at him, yelling profanities as he stood by and waited for you to calm down. You fell to your knees and began to weep not for your master, but for yourself. For the loss of a gift you so desperately wanted.
Adar crouched in front of you, looking down at you as if you were some wounded animal, âI have seen you in passing, always at his side. Never spoke a word, never showed emotion, always there⊠What did you do for him?â
âI healed him⊠Made him strongerâŠâ You muttered broken as you recalled all those countless nights, brewing herbs in teas, using the magic you possessed to grow his power.
âAnd what did he offer you?â He asked gently as if trying to coax a wounded doe. That is what he deemed you were, a fragile doe left in a raging storm.
Your lips curled back as a grim expression took your face. Your tears falling freely as you cried in frustration and grief. You worked so very hard to please him and now here you were back to where you started⊠With nothing.
âI couldnâtâŠâ Your throat tightened as you tried to speak through you cries, âI couldnât have any⊠He promised he would fix me if I helped him⊠He promised and you took that from me!â Your anger grew as you lunged at him again, but he was quick and precise, always was with everything you have seen him do. He grabbed your wrist before you could fully swing at him and you felt yourself break in defeat as you sobbed.
âWhat did I take from you?â He asked again. His voice was low and gentle, his curiosity now growing.
âA family.â You replied barely above a whisper cursing the vacant womb you were blessed with since you were created, âAll I wanted was a family.â Your voice broke.
He allowed you to pull your wrist free from his grasp and watched as you curled yourself into a ball, burying your face in your knees to hide your shame. Adarâs words seem to fail him in that moment as he looked at the broken elf maiden. He expected many answers to slip from your soft lips, but not that⊠Not when it was so close to the wish that he sought out for. The one that was granted when he was given his children. It was an answer that made him reach for your shackles and setting you free.
Your cries turned into sniffles as you felt the weight of the metal leave your ankles and you peaked up at him with hesitant curiosity.
âAre you hungry?â He asked in a gentle voice that was as rough as the stone you were used to sleeping against.
You didnât answer with words, but a gentle nod of your head was all the confirmation he needed.
That was how you found yourself sitting at the stone table where Sauron used to dine. It was only on rare occasions that he would allow you to sit with him when he wanted to learn more about the slicers you created. You remember most nights however, you were left hungry because he was uninterested in your health. You were an elf, you only needed little to survive no matter how painful it was. Now the table was filled with orcs as they ate without fear of Sauronâs wrath.
âWhy are you doing this?â You whispered sitting on Adarâs right as he sat at the head of the table. You had yet to touch your food and waited on his answer.
âHe did not care for your wish as you thought he did. That is why he shackled you in such darkness after you provided no more use for him.â He explained as he took a sip of his wine.
âAnd you? Do you have use for me? Is that why I am up here?â You asked, accusing him of the same thing that Sauron had done.
âI am not him.â His reply was sharp as he stared at you, âI want nothing of you. You are free to leave now if you wish.â
You took in his words as you looked back to your plate. You could hear your stomach growl once the scent finally registered. You reached for the meat first and took a large bite as you contemplated on Adarâs words.
You were finally able to leave freely and that left excitement billowing in your chest, but it slowly fizzled away when you realized where would you even go? Who would want to take in a follower of Sauron? You thought and now your stomach filled with dread. They would kill you where you stood especially with the mark seared onto the back of your neck.
âGuren *glassui.â
It caught you off guard as you heard your mother language be spoken by the uruk sat across the table from you. It was clear he was speaking to you and everyone else continued with their conversation, everyone except for Adar who watched the interaction silently.
âYou speak elvish? How?â You accused as your thoughts were scattered. It had been a long time since you were able to speak to anyone beside Sauron and even then it was only to agree to whatever he said. Your manners seem to evade you now as you pressed, âThank you for what?â Was I being mocked? You werenât sure.
This time the feast grew quiet as everyone listened in on your conversation. If urukâs could blush you would see the poor urukâs face turn bright red, âI asked Lord Adar to teach me your elvish words of thank you.â
Oh⊠Your gaze softened as you looked at him, âWhy would you want to know my language?â You asked, but this time your tone was gentler.
âI was hurt badly⊠I would have died if not for your healing magic. That is why I thank you.â He explained, a shy expression overtaking his face.
âAhâŠâ Your voice trailed off in surprise.
You came to realize over the years youâve been captive under Sauronâs hand that Urukâs werenât evil beings⊠Just forced to do bad things. This particular uruk, you vaguely remember helping one night while passing by the less then salvageable infirmaryâŠ
âYouâre welcome.â You nodded towards the uruk, âI am glad that you survived. You did well. You all did well, truly.â
Your words seemed to brighten his and his siblings moods as the celebration continued in full. The dinning room and the rest of the mountain was filled with cheers as they celebrated their victory. Soon enough it was just you and Adar who were left at the table.
Your plate was wiped cleaned as you subtly looked for more food.
He noticed this and pushed his plate towards you, âHere.â
Your face heated up, âI couldnât, thatâs yours.â
âIâm not that hungry. Go ahead and eat before one of my children steal it from you.â
That was all you needed to hear before you were eating the rest of his meal, your stomach finally happy from being filled.
Adar watched you with mild humor and his arms crossed over his chest as he leaned back in his seat, âHave you decided what you will do?â
You wiped your mouth with your sleeve after you drank your wine. You looked towards him a small frown on your lips, âI donât think I can go anywhere⊠Not with who I am⊠What Iâve done⊠I have nothing left.â You looked at the table, âHe took my old life from me.â
âBut not your new one.â Adar responded and you waited for him to continue as you leaned back to stare up at the stone ceiling, âYou have everything to look forward to and experience.â
âBut where? Who would possibly take me in when I have a mark of evil on my neck.â You spoke in frustration.
âI would.â
It was barely a whisper, but it had you sitting up to face him fully, âWhat?â
âI would take you. As you are. Right now.â He repeated, clear and sure this time.
âEven if I offer nothing to you?â You muttered quietly.
Adar nodded and stood from his seat, âYou wouldnât need to do anything you donât want to.â He looked down at you with a softness in his gaze, âYou could stay with my children and I.â He looked away for a moment.
It was then that he held his hand out for you to take if you wanted too as he continued, âWe are not welcome in that world, but when we find our home it can be your home too⊠If you wish.â
You stared at his outstretched hand for a moment with entirety of emotions swirling in your chest. Fear, gratitude, anxiety⊠Care⊠This was the most you felt in a very long time and it was him⊠The silent brooding elf⊠Uruk making you feel.
His hand felt warm as you took it, a redness brushing against your cheeks as he pulled you up to stand.
âThank you.â You whispered quietly as you looked up at him, âFor offering me a home.â
âAlways.â
It was a year later when you were curled up under Adarâs arm and covered by furs that kept you both warm. You breathed in his scent and listened to his slowed heartbeat as you tried to fall asleep with him, but something felt different tonight. It was only when listening to the laughter of his children that you have grown attached to just outside of your shared tent that you realized in some twisted way Sauron had given you the dream you desired⊠You finally had a family.
Your boots hit the sturdy ground as you made your way to find your old friend, Galadriel.
You felt relief in your chest as the battle against the orcs fell victorious. They would no longer reek havoc against the humans who lived here. But who was to say that this was a true victory when lives were lostâŠ
You have been alive long enough to know that the peace these humans feel now is only temporary against a greater evil. But not always⊠Not in Valinor. Not when I hadâŠ
âYour poem is quite lovely.â Enel remarked.
âYou are just saying that.â You rolled your eyes, amusement gleaming heavily in your gaze.
âNow why would I tell the most beautiful elf in the entire universal a lie?â He asked.
Your blush deepened, âBecause you are blinded by my beauty that you cannot see what is truly in front of you.â You motioned to the scroll, the ink still slightly wet as the words of life dried on the page.
âOn the contrary my melenith, my sight has never been so clear before.â He murmured leaning closer to you.
âAnd why should I believe you?â You asked as he brushed his lips against yours.
âBecause as your future husband, I have nothing to hide from you.â He answered, âMy thoughts and my secrets are yours.â
âAnd am I yours?â You breathed against his lips.
âAlways.â He said before meeting your lips with his.
âGeneral!â A young voice called out to you and broke you from your memories, âPrincess!â He called again.
You turned your head towards the elf calling out to you. A calm expression taking over your frown as you greeted the elf with a nod, âYes?â
âI just wanted to thank you for helping.â He said.
âOf course.â Your smile was gentle, âIt is what anyone would have done.â
âIt has been a long time since I have seen you. You were helping my group with training.â He explained.
âAh.â You said in realization as you recognized the young elf, âArondir.â That seemed to bring a smile to his face as you continued, âI remember that I said I had high hopes for you.â You looked around before settling your eyes back on him again, âIt seems that I was correct.â
âThank you general or Princess.â He bowed.
âWe fought in battle together, my name will do just fine.â You recognized golden strands of silken hair of your friend, âIt was very nice to catch up but I have some matters to attended to.â You gave him a polite smile.
âOf course my Princess, I mean...â His voice trailed off as redness overtook his cheeks. He nodded once before walking away.
âRiel.â You called out to your friend who spun on her heel with nervous alarm. However, you paid little mind to her timid nature assuming it was just adrenaline from after the battle⊠but she is rarely nervous. You thought as she approached you. Maybe something happened.
âMy squad and I have rounded up the remaining orcs. I believe that we should try and question the leader Adar before trying to get through to one of the orcs.â You reported.
She spoke your name gently as if trying to calm you, but you were too distracted by your report that you missed her furrowed brows.
âI hope that you have found this Adar? Iâd rather not like to scavenge these woods tonight looking for a face I do not know.â You looked to the woods with a sick feeling in your stomach. You hated walking through the woods at night.
Galadriel spoke your name louder and finally caught your attention.
âYes?â You asked as you settled down, âDid something happen out there? Are you alright?â Your motherly instincts kicked in as you gave her a once over but found that she was not visibly harmed, âIs it the queen? Or Halbrand?â You mentioned her new friend in hopes that he was not why she was looking at you with such pale skin right now.
She shook her head and placed hers hand on your back, âYou must come with me.â She said carefully as she led you somewhere less populated, close to an old barn.
âRiel, you are scaring me.â You whispered feeling the rise of your heart beat, âPlease tell me what is going on⊠Did someone⊠Did someone close to us die?â You asked softly.
âMy dearest friendâŠâ She began, âYou have every right to be emotional for what I am about to say⊠This news will startle you to your very core.â
You gave her a nervous look, âI⊠I understand. I can handle it.â You said and waited for her to continue.
She grabbed your hands and in the calmest voice possible she explained, âYour husband⊠Enel⊠He is alive. He⊠He is Adar.â
The world seemed to still at that moment as you took time to process her words fully. It didnât sound real. Not to you⊠Not after all this time. It couldnât be⊠He couldnât be⊠Could he?
âThat cannot be.â You shook your head with a frown, âHe was killed by Melkor.â You said seriously, âMelkor took him that night. I heard him scream⊠IâŠâ Your breathing began to pick up as you took a step back from her, âIt is a trick or someone who looks like him. That is all. My Enel⊠Heâs gone.â You whispered hurt.
âI understand your feelings, but believe me my friend I would not lie to you.â Galadriel motioned to the barn, âHe is in there. Melkor took him and turned him into an Ork.â She said solemnly.
Flashbacks of that dreadful night flooded your mind. You could remember the cool breeze⊠The heat of the fire⊠The smell of blood⊠It was dark and the only thing that gave you light was those dark and twisted flames as they consumed everything in terrible hunger.
Screams could be heard coming from your camp as a battle raged between Melkor and your fellow elves. Monsters entered your safe haven as you tried to find Enel. He was your only thought as you evaded each attack, but with the heavy blow from a tree twisted in darkness, your right leg snapped. That was how Enel found you, slaying the monster that tried to take your life before lifting you from the mossy ground. You muffled your cries in Enelâs tunic as he carried you towards the river away from the screams of your people. He set you down behind two boulders by the rushing waves.
âI need you to stay here and keep quiet.â He said, âIâll be right back.â
âThey are my people too Enel. How can I just stay put and just let you go back?â You grabbed his arm to keep him from leaving, âI will go with you.â
âYour leg is broken melenith. I wonât allow for you to get hurt further.â He placed his hand over yours, his eyes darting ever to search for potential threats, âI will be back soon. I promise.â
The tears that welled in your eyes only burned from the grey smoke, âYou could die⊠Please⊠Please donât go.â
âYou know that I will return to you. I always do my melenith.â He pressed his forehead against yours before he gently kissed you and for a few short moments you forgot what was about to happen.
You continued to hold onto that even after you were told that he was dead. And for years to come you clung to his smile as you mourned the loss of your love.
But, now there was a possibility that he was alive. He was alive and waiting for you in that barn. He was alive and was now⊠Adar.
Your breathing quickened as you tried to find the words to speak, but you held your tongue. You couldnât say another word⊠Not until you saw for yourself.
âYou must understand that he is not the same elf you once knew.â Galadriel tried to explain to you though it was fruitless and she knew this, âHe has grown dark and twisted, made into a servant of Sauron.â
You walked passed Galadriel, heading straight for the barn that was currently being guarded by two soldiers.
âNo one is aloud to enter.â The one on the right stated as both of their swords crossed over the door.
They barely had time to comprehend what had happened before you were slipping past them. Both of there swords now imbedded into the soil in front of their feet.
âLet her go.â Galadriel commanded when they made a move to attempt to grab you. That was the last thing you heard before you stepped inside and the door slammed shut behind you.
You stared intently at the worn floorboards afraid to look up and find disappointment. You clenched your fists to stop the from shaking as tears filled your eyes. You tried so very hard to look up and you couldnât until you heard his voice call your name in what seemed to be centuriesâŠ
Your gaze darted to him immediately as you looked at the familiar pair of eyes you dreamed of every night. Maybe I had died in battle and now I was home? But, then why would I imagine him older? He was still remarkable handsome even as he was warn down in chains. Maybe I am hallucinating then? A comma?
He spoke your name again already knowing the thoughts racing through your mind. That melancholy sound finally broke you as you let out a heart wrenching cry and ran towards him.
You threw yourself onto him and he struggled to catch you with his wrists chained. You didnât care though and he didnât either. Neither of you cared about anything expect the feeling of your bodies against each other. Even if he did smell like he hasnât bathed in weeks.
Your sobs only grew louder as you felt him wrap his arms around you. You could feel the heat of him, something that was once a fleeting imagination in the brief early mornings was real once again. You gripped the back of his shirt tighter, your arms circling around his neck and your face pressed into the crook of his shoulder.
No other words were spoken for a long while afterwards, The two of you content in just sharing each others precense. Only the shared sobs and sniffles as you clung onto each other as if you were adrift at sea and trying to stay afloat.
âI have been looking for you ever since I freed myself.â Enel whispered gently after a while of calming silence.
Freed⊠The thought of him being captured⊠Tortured⊠Lost to the strength of the light. It tormented my soul.
You pulled away from him and he could see your face stained with tears, âIâm so sorry.â You apologized as the guilt poured from your heart, âI should have known. I should have looked harder for you. I shouldnât have believed that you were dead. Please forgive me.â You pleaded as you knelt in front of him, palms fisted into your thighs.
He gently placed his hands over yours, bringing you back into his warmth⊠His safety, âYou have no need to apologize, melenith. I have never once blamed you for my capture. You were the only one that kept me from going mad.â
You carefully placed your hands on his cheeks, your thumb gently running over his scars, âYour memory kept me from ending it all and at times I greatly wished I did only to be with you my husbandâŠâ You admitted quietly.
He gently placed his hands over yours as he leaned into your touch, âI am glad the you didnât. I have missed you.â
You leaned your forehead against his, âI have missed you too.â You closed your eyes, âWhat are we to do now my love?â You whispered, âThey will not let you go even if you are my husband.â
âI know.â He closed his eyes and oh how he yearned for this moment that will soon be a distant memory, âWhich is why I need you to let me go.â His gaze stared solemnly into yours as you breathed in one another.
You shook your head immediately at his absurd response, âNo.â You refused, âI wonât. The gods have just bestowed upon me the greatest gift I could ask for⊠You. And I will not throw that away. No. We will think of something else, a better plan.â You insisted as you pulled away only slightly to think of a plan.
âI have done terrible things (Y/N).â His urged as his gaze lowered to the small gash on your collar bone from the battle. He ripped off a piece of his shirt to carefully dab at the wound, âI am not the elf you once knew.â He said even though he was doing exactly what he had always done, take care of you.
âThat doesnât change my mind.â Your gaze traced the scars across his skin and you couldnât help, but fall even deeper in love with him, âYou will never be rid of me.â
He cupped your cheek in the palm of his right hand, âI cannot stay here. My children out thereâŠâ He looked off to the side, âI promised them a world where they could live freely. They need me.â
You nodded your head as the room fell quiet. If you left with him then you would be betraying your kind⊠Your home. But he was all of those things and so very dear to youâŠ
It was a while before you spoke again, every word a soft reminder, âEach night I prayed to the heavens to allow me to be with you again and now you are here.â You placed a gentle kiss on the palm of his hand and nuzzled your nose against him, âThe heavens have granted me my wish and nothing, I mean nothing will ever separate us again.â Your gaze was sharp and determined as you looked at him with nothing but love.
He pressed his forehead against yours again, your breaths mingling, âThen will you come with me?â He asked.
âI will follow you to the end of the world.â You replied without any hesitation, You are mine and I am yours.â
He smiled as he hummed back, âYou are mine and I am yoursâŠâ He pressed a soft kiss to your lips and you melted into him the same way you always have. When you both parted he spoke again, his words breathless, but his mind and heart clear.
âThen come back here when you feel the ground begin to shake.â He stated.
