Hey Tumblr folks. My name is Jessica, I’m Bonita’s (losethehours) daughter. I wanted to post here because I know she had a lot of friends here. My mom took her own life over the weekend. There’s no easy way to say that.

Thank you everyone who was a friend of hers and a part of her community. You helped. She loved this place.

Wait a second. At the start of “The Avengers” Loki gets the scepter that has the mind stone from Thanos’ flunkie. And Thanos is sitting right there when he gets it. So if Thanos already had an Infinity Stone in his possession, why did he give it away? Or did he somehow not know that the sceptor actually had the stone, and only weirdly discovered it later?

This is seriously annoying the heck out of me. Did he truly not know he had the Mind stone in his possession? He could have gotten the Soul stone without problems, just do a Jedi mind trick on Gamora: “You *will* tell me where the Soul stone is.” Quick jaunt over to wherever the hell it was (I forget the planet’s name). Boom, 2 down, 4 to go. At this point, the Power stone is still in the orb on the planet it was on at the start of GotG, completely unguarded. Go there, get it with no problems. Halfway to a full set. At this point, the Time stone is in Earth with the Ancient One, Space stone is on Asgard in Odin’s treasure room, and the Reality stone is still as the Aether just randomly out there somewhere. There’s no Avengers formed (no Loki with scepter to fight, no Avengers forming to stop him) and Tony’s Iron Man suit is still several generations behind the nanotech suit. It’s a toss up between hitting Asgard or Earth first. If he goes to Earth first, he’s fighting the Ancient One and all the sorcerers, and the Ancient One is going to be significantly more skilled than Strange. Asgard would still have Odin actually on the throne, though Thor is nowhere near close to discovering how strong he truly is. Odin also may or may not release Hela from her banishment in order to stop Thanos, if he even thinks of it. There would be a massive fight for either stone either way. I would think Space stone first though. If Hela does get released, with the Power stone he can destroy a lot a Asgard to stop her from gaining too much power. He destroys Asgard, Odin and Thos, gets the Space stone, the transports to wherever in the universe the Aether is. He forms that actually into the Reality stone, the transports to Earth with 5 Infinity Stones. There’s no warning for the Ancient One, so there’s not even a chance to look at possible futures, if the Ancient One even thinks to do that. I don’t think she would, even of given the chance to do it. Another fight there, and Thanos gets the Time stone. And then he kills half the universe.

He could have done it if he hadn’t given the scepter with the Mind stone away.

Coworker of mine pointed out that the Tesseract and Space stone are on Earth, not with Odin. Which honestly would have made things even easier for him. It would have been much easier to get the Space stone at this point on Earth.

That’s a lot of good information @obeekris. I’ve not been well lately so I figured I’d mark it to read later. So I did that tonight. Thank you for sending the link to me. I admit I gave up on who was doing what with whatever in this particular series a long time ago. It was packed with too much information for me to want to dig in. That’s why I really appreciate you helping me along!

I like the characters very much so I focus on them and what is going on around them and tend to not grasp much of the backstory.

@losethehours I’m generally pretty good with following and remembering plots and crossovers and stuff from movies and TV shows. (It’s probably taking up space in my brain for more important things, like calling my nephews by the correct name when I speak to them. :D) This is just a massive plot hole that’s been bothering me since at least “Infinity War” came out. He had an Infinity Stone, he shouldn’t have given it away.

@obeekris He’s not a great deep thinker, is he? He’s not proven himself to be able to grasp some pretty basic concepts. Like what does “Half of all life will die” kind of concepts. He’s been threatening these different people for a while with his “I’m coming to take you away Ha Ha Hee Hee” gleeful giggles. He’s not paying attention to having one of the stones! How does that even happen?

@losethehours Yeah, they were threatening him up as the big bad for a while. I just wish they had given us a different reason for his actions when he showed up.

In the comics, he was in love with and trying to court the physical personification of Death. (Who was, in an ironic turn, herself in love with Deadpool, the one person who can never die.) And I know that for the MCU, even as they’re “comic book movies” (which as a ridiculing term I feel no longer really applies to most modern comics based movies), having a creature that is literally a skeleton in a cloak would have been going at least a bit over the top. So they needed another reason for Thanos doing what he was trying to do. Hell, even just a slight twist on his reasoning would have worked… maybe something like: people (ie thinking beings, not just humans) are wasteful, destructive, consuming creatures, not repairing any of the damage they’ve done, so let’s get rid of everybody to teach them all a lesson. Yeah, it’s not great, but it’s better than people are consuming everything, so let’s destroy half of everyone and everything.

But even changing his reasoning to something just slightly less stupid still wouldn’t excuse giving an Infinity Stone away. If they had at least attempted to address it in the movie that would be something. Okay, fuck it, I need to find contact info for someone over at Marvel and/or the Russo bros to complain to someone officially.

@losethehours according to the directors, half of all life everywhere in the universe, including plants, animals, and planets destroyed.

I meant people in the general “recognizable as sentient beings” sense, to include aliens, not just humans. I think in the past we’ve discussed cats as being fuzzy, four footed people too. 😊

And there’s even odds that your cat survived.
