aLSO IM ON ART FIGHT! coming strong in team steampunk! d. does kinda mean I'll be distracted this month. oh well-
Ask my character "How do you feel about ______?" Can be an idea, person(s), place, or thing, and they'll have to answer honestly.
â
The house was silent, not even the ticking of a clock to be heard. Phone screen as the only light source in the roomâ you sighed the very moment it caught your attention, although you wouldn't know whether that's a pinch of sorrow or relief.
Lynne has left.
Perhaps that phrasing was a little misleading. She wanted to stay, god, she wanted to stay. As much as you loathed that fact, you do feel bad for herâ angry for herâ for how that one wish was, once again, disregarded and ruined. If only, if only it were you instead... alas, you've learned by now that you're truly always at the whim of someone else; conversations of changing fate are meaningless in a place such as this. What a depressing thing to be right about, and yet-
She has left.
Not like you're about to go and miss her, you'd think. Hell, you were trying to push her away all this time, so if anything, this is convenient, isn't it? Even if she, or vaguely her, were to show up nowâ it wouldn't be the same, anyway. You were stubborn all this time; it paid off, didn't it? Convenience... convenience shouldn't tear you like an error.
Someone left.
Someone stubborn, butâ a good person, deserving something much better than what Spirale had to offer; freedom. You're not one to assume they're somewhere better now. You can't help but think of the lengths they went, the patience, persistence, compassion... what would have happened? What would have happened if you were a little selfish, a little more honest?
Irrelevant.
Followed by a groan, you'd toss the phone aside, closing your eyes. No, you couldn't lie to yourself about this, but at least you can find some solace knowing that this pathetic state is one no one else will have to deal with anymore. This is for the best, you'd mutter. Ultimately, it doesn't matter, you'd mutter. There's no... meaning, nothing to mourn, you'd mutter. Left alone to stew in your own thoughts, and this time you'll lock the bloody book.

GETTING USED TO SPIRALE.
 2. spiraleâs currency- dust- is wholly digital, requiring citizens to use their city-assigned devices. what does your muse think about that? is it different from how their homeworldâs currency worked? do they welcome this system, or does it trouble them?
While he's glad he doesn't have to worry about someone simply stealing all his inheritance, you won't catch Clive ever thanking the stars for their currency systemâ after all, not only is all that money in their hands, free for them to confiscate and give back as they'd likeâ but it also forces him to rely on the phone he couldn't loathe more. Admittedly, both issues would still exist even without the money being digital, but like- it only adds to it, and boy does he sure love having more reasons to hate on shit
So no, he doesn't welcome it, but he doesn't want it to be the way it is in his homeworld, either, not before a bunch of other problems inherent of spirale are addressed. Which, if you'd ask Clive, is never.
 3. how long did it take for your muse to find out about spiraleâs respawn system? did they experience it firsthand before? what is it to them?
He experienced it firsthand! First week of his stay. Isn't that lovely? As to what it is to him, uh    Clive abuses the spirale's respawn system to hell and back, despite the painful consequences you get afterwards   which are just worse for him now by the sheer amount he's done it. Its given him some lasting memory & headache issues! <3 Who knows, maybe the system will fail on him some day! Probably not, but can you blame a man for hoping a bit?
 6. is your muse biased against/for the natives of spirale(npcs)? does your muse interact with them differently than with other muses, or are they equitable in that aspect?

GETTING USED TO SPIRALE.Â
 6. is your muse biased against/for the natives of spirale(npcs)? does your muse interact with them differently than with other muses, or are they equitable in that aspect?
VERY much against. Whether that's apparent or not depends entirely on if he's trying to keep face. Its       its a big issue, actually. Also part to the whole paranoia of his, but like, for the sake of both of us I'm not going to ramble on about why. Clive already does that enough himself
 7. what was the first event your muse participated? how much time did they have to adjust to the city beforehand, if at all? how hard did it hit them and were they informed of these semi-regular phenomenons beforehand? do they handle events better than they did at the first?
oh clive arrived in the middle of empatheorem it was a disaster          goes without saying he had no time to adjust beforehand
Some did tell him what was going on, but like, *during* the event. It uh      it hit him hard. Confrontation with Layton's son while his and Clive's body were swapped, is all I'm gonna say. Sure is fun to see someone who looks & sounds like yourself to laugh at your face.
... you could say he handles it a lot better now, though I think it's more accurate to say that he doesn't really. uh. address the events anymore if not absolutely necessary and unavoidable.

GETTING USED TO SPIRALE.
8. all sorts of lifeforms reside in spirale; how accustomed is your muse to that? do they still try to stick with citizens similar to them, or does your muse care little about what species the citizens they interact with are?
you'll be pleased to know that Clive hates all lifeforms equally <3
Jokes aside, yeah, no, he doesn't care, assuming communication works one way or another despite the differences. I should probably note though that this is solely his indifference, rather than a more noble reason one might have.
The majority of his   uh  associates? tend to be humanoids, though, mostly because usually it isn't him who seeks to keep contact with somebodyâ therefore, other people's stands on the matter influence the circle of people he's more frequently around, indirectly.
errantkatanaâ:
âIt was a jokeâŚâ he trailed off. Heâs not sure why heâs giving him a gift in the first place. A âget betterâ kind of thing? Whatever.Â
Only reasonable, although, predominantly, outright exasperating.Â
Yes, that sounded right. Even as heâs making more âfriendsâ, he still feels lonely. Like he doesnât belong. Their lives are different. Their pasts, different. There is no-one that has come from his Hell that has life in their eyes.Â
He just had to be born.Â
It just had to be him.Â
âI wonder if the Stars put those people in front of us just to mock us.âÂ
You were the one that picked the mask of death. Would anything really be that different if you had chosen the mask of life? No, youâd be dead, and thereâd be no telling what would actually happen with you gone.Â
Youâre in it for the long haul, now.Â
Everyone else be damned for fucking you over. The prolonged silence comes another curious question.Â
âDo you still think about, when we met? Watching that guyâs face turn into paste?â Â
The faintest smile only lasts as long as words come out of his mouth. Before his lips seal again, downturned in thought.Â
... that was a joke?
"I wouldn't put it past them," a nonchalant wave of a hand, "they're fond of mocking us, after all. Even the people who support them can agree with that fact."
Exasperating, exasperating, of bloody course it's exasperating. The thought process some of these delighted foreigners must have, concluding that their arrival in this city is a giftâ that's not even blind optimism, no. It's outright willful ignorance. Ignorance is bliss, they may say, but he can only wish for them to choke on that blessing. Â Â
Despite the quiet demeanour as he'd sit there in silence, his stance on matters was rather... apparent. No need to vocalize his resentment here for it to be obvious that he's opinionated. God knows he goes off on others too often, anyway.
"... the train?" he'd ask at first. "I'm certainly aware that it happened, if that's why you're asking. My memory isn't good enough to recall all too many details, however." good enough for him, really.
Though, if that's because he's ruined his memory skills to the point where his head's a haze as a consequence of his own actions, or if he just forgot because it's... uneventful in comparison, at this rate, not worthy of being rememberedâ It didn't matter. Both possibilities are miserable to consider. So, he didn't voice that thought, instead,
"â do you?"
      ah. thatâs concerning.
hi do u ever take ur new. weird friend(????????) who is also like, 13-14 to a bodega at like, 3am? no? why not. do it now actually
in other news THIS WAS VERY FUN TO PAINT i love bodegas. i want to visit new york again
hi also if you tag this as ship im taking your kneecaps. this is a threat <3
haha oops
You come home, make some tea, sit down in your armchair and all around thereâs silence. Everyone decides for themselves whether thatâs loneliness or freedom.

diedagainâ:
This is not normal. It is not normal to look upon someone you call a friend and flare up with something so intense â Lynne has always had a difficult time keeping her temper in check whenever this topic has arised, which has happened more times than necessary. Where he manages to keep most of his emotions in check, she tries, but itâs â
Itâs hard. She knows what situations a temper has gotten her into. Lynne makes a comparison in her head â feels the terror, and the disgust that comes with it â but proceeds anyway, because the lid is open and she has long lost the ability to hold back on certain things.
âFor someone apparently so nice to not poke into my background, or whatever, you make a lot of assumptions about me! Does it â I donât know â help you sleep at night to think that I am so far away from your world that I wouldnât understand ââ A pause. ââIâm repeating myself, arenât I? For all you talk, you donât listen, do you?! You just put me in a box youâre comfortable with and decide I couldnât possibly get on your level! Thatâs what you do, isnât it? Let me tell you, if weâre talking about personal judgement â yours sucks! You wouldnât know how to judge things right if your life depended on it!â
âYou wouldnât know irreparable if it hit you in the face!!!â Something stings. Itâs the whole conversation, and something he mentions â on her thoughts of the stars and the city. A gift. Itâs not wrong, but itâs such a simplification it feels like disrespect, a direct insult. âAnd donât start on me. Donât go about turning this around and telling me I donât listen, I â Iâve been trying to! Iâm trying to understand â but itâs like you donât want to be understood! Is this the way you want to spend the rest of your life!?â
"â what if I were to say yes?" he'd add immediately. It was a vague response, but at this point, it was to be expected for him not to offer anything in return. "What if I've made the choice to live like this? Do you feel compelled to do something about it? Play the hero and change my sentiment? That's awfully haughty of you."
"When I say you don't listen, you know that's not what I'm referring to. You sure try to understand, but you do that despite me telling you to shut it."
Cold. Emotions urging to flare up were locked away with the key thrown out the window, only seeping through when he spoke as undertones filled with malice. "I wouldn't respect you this much if you were someone who could stoop down to my level, Lynne. It's admirable that you're so eager to prove me wrong, but you're not helping anyone."
Admiration. It was dirty to bring it up in an argument such as this, but it sure didn't stop him. "You're entitled to your scepticism of my sense of judgement, but it's not my job to correct you."
Insulting. For someone who spent the majority of his life to make things turn out right at last, resorting to all options before ultimately caving in to the state he's in nowâ to claim that he can't recognize what's irreparable and what isn't, was simply insulting. "You're mistaken, which is for me to know, and for you to come to terms with."
He wasn't about to admit that she was getting under his skin.
