The hierarchy in the orphanage was akin to the one in prison. After being poorly cared for by the staff as a baby and a toddler, little Miguel was often beaten and raped by the older children. When he ran away for the last time, he already knew how to earn food, money, and drugs and stay alive on the street. He used his body the only way he knew and pickpocketed people when he could. At 13, after he killed a man, a member of a street gang took him in. He was too young to get a tattoo, so he was branded like livestock. The letter B, standing for Bloods, was burned into the skin of his right shoulder. The scar is still visible today. By that time, he had already learned how to get through pain, so he barely shed one tear. Later, in the juvenile prison, his belonging to the gang provided him with a higher status among the young criminals. And when he turned 18 and was transferred to the regular jail, his 2 years in general population were relatively safe also because he was acknowledged as a member of the Bloods. Technically, he still is, although after enlisting in the Foreign Legion, he cut all ties with them.
I love characters that appear arrogant or self-centered but you don’t have to dig deep to find it's a poorly built façade to hide the fact that they actually despise themselves with every ounce of their being.

I'm a fan of this photoshoot. I really want him to grow his hair to this length again and look a rockero.
Miguel's tattoo of Virgen Calavera is not a classical image with Sun around her, crescent Moon and a dead man at her feet, but like this - Santa Muerte praying for his soul, black and white.
// In 2020 Bunbury and other Hispanic artists marched in LA protesting against the mandatory vaccination. There were many who called them delusional and even a sect (including Joaquín Sabina). I wonder what these people can say now when the Fauci hearings disclose the truth about COVID and vaccination (among the other things)?
// David, looking at three giant thugs that replaced him in the trailer of Onslaught: "Uh... What the fuck, guys?"
I'm not sure if I'm going to watch it only because of Dan Stevens, who's not playing any main character. And IMHO, David, Soldier X, Soldier Neural, whatever you want to call him, would kill those three with a paper knife with one hand tied behind his back. It's sad that the perfect soldier in cinema is once again reduced to a brainless gorilla. The idea in The Guest was original and therefore appealing, and this one isn't.
❝ — S'that so?? ❞ He sent a quick text to Rachel, letting her know he would need her to make sure that Adelaide and Tobias got to their therapy sessions because he was going out for coffee with a colleague instead of coming straight home. He texted Kayleigh, too, letting her know that she could go spend the night with her friends and had full access to the credit card he'd given her.. within reason.
❝ Sorry 'bout that, ❞ he murmured as he slid his phone back into his pocket. ❝ Have to check up on my babies whenever I get a chance. ❞ He certainly didn't want Mr. Vardanian to think him rude or disinterested, as neither one was true.
❝ — As far as Prosecutors go, ❞ he began as the made their way over to the other man's car, ❝ I can honestly say that you are the best I've ever been up against. ❞ He meant that. It wasn't merely an echo of the other's praise. ❝ It's almost impossible to find a Prosecutor that is actually interested in true justice, as opposed to paydays and the notoriety that comes with winnin' streaks these days. ❞ A soft chuckle thrummed in his throat at that, and all he offered was a knowing, crooked grin.
❝ — I reckon we'll get on well 'nough. ❞ He hummed as he stepped up to the passenger side door and reached out to open it carefully - lingering there a second or two before stepping in.
"We, Prosecutors," he spoke while driving the car out of its parking spot and into the traffic, "See the goal and run to it like bloodhounds. Many of us forget that a guilty verdict and maximum sentence aren't all. That, - and I'm grateful that my boss can't hear me right now, - Law isn't all. Our job is to disarm the bad guys and give good citizens their peaceful sleep with as little collateral damage as possible. And if it means accepting defeat once in a while, so be it. But enough about work."
"You have kids, how amazing," he took a left turn and looked at Jameson when they stopped at another traffic light, "So many worries, so much happiness. Sometimes I envy this, a true big family that always waits for you no matter what. I'm sure you're a great father." He turned away and started the car. Silence hung inside for a few moments. "Not far now, you better prepare for the Armenian color. Can be shocking sometimes."
❝ He didn't hurt me anywhere near as bad as you did.. but I guess you've given yourself a pass. ❞ With that, he reached back to pull his wallet out of his pocket. There was no point in ordering another drink.. it wouldn't do him any good. And the bar, no matter how nice and uncrowded it was, was definitely NOT the right venue for the long, painful conversation they needed to have - assuming Miguel wouldn't bolt on him again.
❝ — Right, ❞ Jamie hissed, pulling a hundred dollar bill out of his wallet then laying it down beside his empty glass, ❝ 'cause it was so unnatural, so CRUEL of me to give a damn. 'Cause lovin' you, and wantin' to have a life with you that wasn't gonna constantly be threatened by your... ❞ he paused there, shaking his head as he closed his wallet and tucked it away in his pocket once more.
❝ You're a coward, Miguel. You didn't abandon me 'cause I begged you to stop.. you abandoned me 'cause you couldn't handle the prospect of havin' to think 'bout someone other than yourself. You're selfish. Nothin' has ever really mattered to you 'cept your freedom and your reputation. ❞ He turned away from the bar, turned his back on Miguel, and made his way toward the door. IF Miguel were to follow him, fine. If not, well.. there would never be another opportunity for him. ❛ Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice.. shame on me. ❜
He listened silently, and though every word flying at him out of Jamie's mouth felt like a punch in the guts, he didn't flinch once. Maybe he wanted to show pain, but he didn't know how anymore. He unlearned it long ago. He knew how to transform pain directly into anger, but he couldn't and didn't want to get angry at Jamie. He could turn his anger directly at himself, though, but not here and not now. So, he followed the other outside like a docile dog.
"You're right about everything," he said when they were under the open sky, "I am a coward, I am selfish, and my freedom is important to me. My reputation means shit, though. I did hurt you; I did what I did because I'm a selfish coward. Killing myself for that would be a long process, but I'm willing to do that if you ask. But I'm also willing to make my amends if you want me." He paused, looking at Jamie and gathering his bearings to say what he needed to say next. "When I heard that you were attacked... When I realized that I could really lose you..." His lower lip trembled for the first time as he spoke. "I know he couldn't kill you, but what if he could? ... Let's sit and talk. I promise, no secrets and no lies this time. And if you give me a chance, maybe we'll find a way to do it better?"
Amo a estos chicos. (Pero dime que Antonio va a volverse.)
