Xander is a keyblade wielder and a real one at that. He accidentally inherited his when coming in contact with the keyblade of an old master who saved him from the Heartless. The master, old and tired of fighting, entrusted the key with him and had him sent to Yen Sid to have proper training. 

Despite being a Keyblade wielder, Xander isn’t very skilled with it. His training with Yen Sid paid off on the magical aspect though, so as a fighter he mostly relies on magic powers.

Tidal is instead a physical attacker despite his small size and frame: he’s unbelievably fast and his tactic relies on hitting quickly and retreating; basically a hit and flee type of attacker. 

Tidal is, opposed to Mars, a Light elemental, which allows him to fully use healing magic. His weapon, which is not a keyblade (currently deciding) can still hit the Heartless thanks to being infused with Tidal’s own light powers.

Mars sees Xander as sort of a hindrance to her, even though she’s supposed to be sort of a protector to him.

Mars, despite being OP as hell and most likely the strongest, is NOT the main character of the trio / the story line. The main character is Xander, and she’s a supporting one. 

For Tidal it was a surprise to find out that there were others of his species in the world, and that alone was a good enough reason for him to stick as close to Mars as possible.

Mars was the last of the group to join, as Xander met with Tidal first and protected him. Mars fell out of the sky on Xander and she decided to tag along after he asked her, as she had a keyblade of her own.

Xander has three Drive forms as his clothes were infused with the same magic Sora’s clothes were. The forms are Weightless (with Tidal, fast attacks, basic magic), Aggression (with Mars, heavy hits but sacrifices magic for it) and Aether (with Tidal and Mars, fast and strong hits, high chance of criticals, highest magic power, includes Gravitaga)

Some info about Kingdom!Mars. A few things apply to her at all times though.

She’s 15 by the time of KH1, 16 by KH2 and almost 17 by KH3D

She’s somewhat flat chested, so she doesn’t need to bind before fighting (as opposed to her previous ref, where she needed to bind)

She’s 5′4′’ counting the ears. She’s short.

She wields the power of Darkness (as opposed to her ref, which states that she’s a Fire elemental).

Because of her control over Darkness, she’s been subject to whispers of Maleficent, Pete and others. She can somewhat control it though and very rarely it takes over.

Due to her Darkness element, she can sense when the Heartless are nearby or where there’s a large cluster of dark energy. While this ability is useful, she’s also very creeped out by it, as she can’t turn it on and off and she always feels the presence of the darkness until Sora locks a world’s Heart.

When under extreme emotional distress, or during desperate times, she sometimes turns into Anti!Mars. She’s not a heartless, but she moves and attacks like one. This is not a consequence of her clothes - like for Sora - but of her LemurDragon genes, which force her body to adapt to the universe she lives in, taking on different forms and powers depending on where she is at the moment.

She travels the worlds with two other characters: Lyxander (Xander, a true Keyblade Wielder) and Tidal (another LemurDragon, wielder of the Light element). 

She has an unrequited crush on Riku, although he doesn’t know because she would sooner die than tell him. Tidal and Xander both know though.

Her keyblade changes forms and has four special Keychains: Outsider’s Key (basic keyblade), Burning Sun (medium strength, middle length), Sunset’s Call (medium strength) and Arma Ultima (Mars’ final weapon)

Mars’ keyblades are FAKE. They’re an extension of herself created by her magic upon entering the universe, as a means of self protection and defense against the Heartless. They can hurt the Heartless and kill them, but they can’t unlock keys, hearts or anything of the sorts. They’re just good to club Heartless with.

She DOES NOT have Drive forms.

On the subject of “shitty self inserts / mary sue characters” I’ve come to the conclusion that I don’t really give a shit about other people’s opinion. Self inserts are nice. They’re what one does to start drawing most of the time, they allow escape from reality, they make for great interaction with canon characters - albeit impossible, of course.

Self inserts are nice. Shitty mary sues are nice. I love them, even the disgustingly overpowered ones.

Which brings me to the tranquility of mind to say that I don’t care how sue-ish Mars will become in the future. I don’t care. She’s my little shitty OP self insert character and I will make her as OP as she wants to be.

I have a funny question, I think. What if Noel and Pietro were to organize 'mama contest' where they would go to the Park, for example, without saying anything to anyone, would wait til it got late to see who'd call first, Sheila or Goldwin?

TBH I’m pretty sure it’d be Goldwin. For two reasons:

1) Noel isn’t entirely under Sheila’s care. He’s with her mainly when he has to study or when he willingly goes to her place to hang out with her or Zan. For the remaining time, he’s either home studying/playing or practicing his powers. In both occasions he’s not very strictly controlled as his parents consider him to be a pretty independent kid and want him to have his space. 

2) Goldwin is a freaking worrywart and would call / message Pietro to know where he was after an hour of not seeing him aroung.

Marashi Species Explained

A lot of things have changed due to a brainstorming session today. The Type B Marashi have changed entirely.

Type A Marashi: Also known as Alpha Marashi. They’re 50% of the Marashi population on Earth. This kind of Marashi is the “pure”, more ancient type of Marashi, a sort of “missing link” between animals and humans; they’re anthropomorphic creatures with digitigrade feet (or clearly animalistic hind legs) and distinctive, clearly animalistic pawpads on both hands and feet. These Marashi may or may not show hair growth, and chances of it appearing or not are equal.

Type B Marashi: Also known as Beta Marashi. They’re 45% of the Marashi population and are the result of an adaption of a branch of Marashi during ancient times. Type B’s always have plantigrade feet, very similar to a human’s, and a different kind of padding on hands and feet. Hair growth is often present. Their heads are the same as an Alpha Marashi, so they retain their animalistic aspect, but with more human-like posture and walking.

Type C Marashi: The remaining 5% of the Marashi population, offspring of a Marashi and a human (see below). These Marashi are also called “Omegas” sometimes, or with a more racial slur, “Fakes”. These Marashi are for the majority humans, but show animal traits - some have a tail, some have ears, some may have both and some may even show a recessive gene which gives them animal-like teeth. These Marashi are two times out of three sterile and cannot bear offsprings.

Type C Marashi’s are born only in a way: when a male Marashi has a kid with a female human. It doesn’t work when the sexes are inverted, due to the extremely aggressive dominance of the human genes on the Marashi genes. The fetus would be considered an actual threat by the female Marashi’s system and would be promptly killed off and expelled naturally. 

The semblance of the child is mostly human due to the human genes dominating over the Marashi genes, however the fetus in a human woman’s womb isn’t seen as a threat, so it can grow and develop as a normal human fetus would (and it is mostly human anyway). Because of the partial incompatibility between the species, most Type C Marashi are born sterile, preventing them from having offsprings of their own.

Type C Marashi face constant racism as they’re seen as the offsprings of a “disgusting” relationship - even when their parents are two fertile Omegas. 

As a species, Marashi are inclusive of these mammalian species:

Terrestrian carnivorans (feliformia / caniformia trees) (80%)

Gliriformes / Primatomorpha (10%)

Ruminantia -> Pecora (Horned ruminants) (5%)

Equidae (5%)

Due to animalistic remnants in their DNA, Marashi tend to fall in love / feel sexually attracted towards creatures in the same family / subspecies. Most of them tend to feel more interested in creatures belonging to the same subfamily (tigers + leopards, wolves + dogs etc), but some don’t feel that same affinity with Marashi of the same subfamily. Offsprings are most often more similar to one of the parents, but if the parents belong to the similar subfamilies (big felines) the offspring will most likely be a mix of the parents’ species.

In case the parents are different subspecies (Type A lemur + Type A cat, for example) the offspring will 90% of the time be the same species as the mother, with slight colour traits from the father.

Type A and B Marashi are very rarely sexually attracted to humans, which is also why there aren’t many Omegas around.

Interspecies Couples and hate towards them

Human/ A-B Marashi couples are very often seen as weird, wrong or an outright problem in the community. The kind of hate towards these couples has its roots in the belief that a human marrying and having sex with an “anthropomorphic beast” is comparable to bestiality. This kind of hate isn’t as strong towards Marashi / other species, or towards other interspecies, and is strongest towards:

Human / A-B Marashi couples

Human / Rukia couples

Because of this rooted hate on both parts (both human and Marashi communities have their own hateful parties) interspecies couples are hard to see and most are kept hidden or secret. 

It’s also because of this hate - which is comparable to homophobia, but is stronger as in the world of Aura Shift homophobia isn’t as rooted as in ours - that Omega Marashi’s are so rare.

What Noel's friends don't like about him?

Depends on which friends we’re talking about.

School people: Noel has a few friends in school, mostly human or Marashi kids. Despite this, what they don’t like about him is that he’s a pushover when confronted by other purebred Fularoo kids. They call him any kind of names and he never stands up for himself. He’s a quiet kid and doesn’t want any trouble, so he avoids confrontation or any sort of rebuttal or  snapping back. He prefers being bullied and let his bullies not have the satisfaction of having made him mad. In the end he doesn’t care too much - being insulted at school doesn’t take a big toll on him because he has a few friends he can count on. (And I need to design EVEN MORE NPCs. Fuck)

Sheila: Sheila’s a little worried about Noel because he tends to put himself in positions of “power”. She doesn’t necessarily dislike it - she’s happy that he’s got a good logical mind - but she’s not happy that he has sometimes to take decisions that an adult should take. He’s still a kid, and she worries about his own health of mind.

Zane: He adores Noel, don’t get me wrong, he sees him as family, but he can’t stand that he needs constant confirmation of his abilities. He doesn’t believe in himself enough, and that leads him to a lot of self doubt, and Zane hates it because he sees himself in it, and he fears that he’s influenced Noel in the wrong way. So Zane does his best 24/7 to make sure that Noel believes in himself and gets some more confidence in his own skills. 

Also everyone gets mad at Noel because he also makes his school mates’ homework by lending them a massive hand when needed, but he says he doesn’t mind. Sheila’s tried a lot of times to give him a wake up call and make him see that he’s being used, but he still wants to be helpful. He’s irremovable on that.

How much of a mama Katja is? Does she apply her mommyness to other crew members?

She’s a very angry and scary mama hen, but a good mama nonetheless. Although she’s more on the strict than nice side, in the sense that she’ll teach you things, but she’ll be strict. Think Gordon Ramsay but less yells, more intimidation. She especially likes throwing stuff at Tyler. 

But exaggeration aside she’s a really nice character who applies her “mommyness” in small doses, mostly as a way to show her support towards others. Mommyness applies mostly to crew members only, and ESPECIALLY Tyler and Goldwin. Misha’s a grown man and doesn’t need to be nursed or anything, also because he doesn’t like it. Goldwin instead is often overworking himself, so Misha and Katja both take turns to take up some of his work and kick him home so that he can rest.

The relationship with Tyler is special though. Despite being stern and really aggressive towards him, she has a lot of tender moments in which she softens up and teaches him a few things about cooking. Tyler may be just the scullion, but he’s got talent and Katja sees it, so she teaches him a thing or two when they’re getting the food ready and Tyler isn’t being a jackass juggling with food. She doesn’t like that he’s such a silly guy, but he’s still a kid (he’s 18) and she’s really close to him despite it all.

With Pietro I think the mommyness doesn’t show much mostly because she doesn’t know him well enough. She would be glad to get to know him if Goldwin had them meet, but otherwise she’s mostly in the kitchen, so she doesn’t get many chances to meet and have a chat with him. She’d be a little suspicious of Pietro, if anything, and would “mom Goldwin up” to make sure he’s done a good thing in taking Pietro in.

Readjusting Delta because what I wrote yesterday doesn’t reflect my views of her character. She’ll go back to “Androgynous woman with no tits”, which fits her better.

If Pietro and Delta were ever to meet, I think he'd just refer to her as female all the time. No 'they' shit. Female all the way. And I don't believe he'd be as confusted as you make everyone to be. He'd just think that Delta was unfortunate to end up with a dude-like face while being a woman. And she's flat. Shit happens.

I think the confusion from others would come from the fact that queer is ok in the world of Aura Shift. So while everyone would be ok with her neutral preference, they’d still be very curious about her actual sex! Most wouldn’t ask because they know she can fuck them up, but they’d still be very curious.

And Delta wouldn’t mind being called a woman from Pietro. She doesn’t really care and she just takes the androgynous thing way further mostly for fun. She’d be very happy that someone recognized her right off the bat and decided to go with female pronouns for her. Which would make it even more fun for the others because everyone else has to be neutral, but Pietro gets granted the “female” word use. And they’d be like “??????? WHAT WHY NOT WITH ME AS WELL???????”

But I probably really exaggerated about the confusion part. Some would be confused, a lot would not. I probably really just made a massive deal out of a little in-comic joke.

Also on the topic of this character

I think they’re going to end up one of my favorites, for a few very simple reasons.

They’re androgynous to the point of making people confused. They have the body structure of a female (thin, lithe and a little bit lanky) but the facial structure that borders on the masculine, with a sharp jawline. The fact that they entirely lack tiddies also creates more confusion about their character. They’re sterile and their reproductive system is basically a badly fused mix of a reptilian’s and a human’s, therefore their sterility. Hidden vagoo like that of a lizard. Try to sexualize them, if you can.

Despite their androgyny they are FEMALE. Becoming a CHIMERA was like a dream come true to them: no boobs, no more baby making, hella cool abilities. 

They’re Italian and were released into the city of Torre Vittoria as a rogue CHIMERA. Due to them not going crazy during the transformation process, they kept their intelligence and got caught on purpose by the Heroes of T.V. They were sent to Glory City as they have better equipment to control a CHIMERA there.

Due to their Italian origins, they use female pronouns when referring to themselves in Italian, but switch to neutral when they speak English. They do this to create even more confusion regarding her sex.

They very often speak in Italian, and know basic/intermediate English. Due to not being used to speaking in another language, they’ll often mix and mash Italian words in their sentences when they can’t remember the English equivalent.

They’re a massive trickster and make full use of their abilities to be an absolute troll to other people.

So basically they’re gonna be that one androgynous character no one fucking knows what they are, how to treat them, and how to act around them.

I was considering changing some of the Aura Shift characters to make them fit better in the universe. Nothing major, but there are some things that would actually work really well - mostly because they’d allow me to finally drop some adopted character designs and focus on my own way of designing more “natural” characters.

Min Yin Xiang. She’s of Chinese heritage, and I wanted to show it in a way or another. She’d work fantastically well as a snow leopard mix (as snow leopards do live in Asia) rather than a cat. It would also link well with her superpower, which allows her to use ice as her own elemental force. She’d be a Type B. Marashi, with plantigrade feet. This would still allow her to be seen by Pietro as a kitty cat, as he’d most likely register her as a kitty, due to her small build. She’d only have an extra fluffy tail.

Tyler Roswell. American guy that works in Goldwin’s Dragon Crest. He’s the scullion in the kitchen, but he helps around from time to time. He’ll remain a tiger mix, but I was considering mixing him with an Asiatic lion, to bring out some sort of mane around his neck. Super scruffy and super silly. 

Misha  Godfrey. The waiter at the Dragon Crest. He’s of English heritage and he’ll be a black fox terrier / scottish terrier mix. Basically Brit. Dog. He’s nice and welcoming although he can look a little cold and too invested in his work. He’ll probably be a good friend to Pietro, because he’s 100% willing to teach him words and spend time with him. 

Katja Romanova. SHE’S THE WORST (best?). The cook of the Dragon Crest, she’s in charge of the kitchen and makes Tyler work like a slave for the most part, but mostly because he acts like a jackass. She’s Russian, but her aspect betrays it. In fact, she’s a white/brownish ragdoll/chantilly mix. Very mad but also big mama.

You know what I love about the heroes of GC? That they have a clothing code. All heroes should wear their uniform - which is the same for everyone - so that they can be recognized by the citizen in times of need. And most of the heroes wear it proudly like “Look! I’m a hero! I look so fuckin awesome”

And then there are the dorks like Inklash and a few others who’re like “fuck that uniform, I’m going around superhero style!”, and go out in town wearing the most colourful, bullshit looking “hero outfits”, so bad that not even Marvel or DC comics would ever think of them.
