Finally started watching AYS. I put it off for awhile because I was afraid it wouldn't live up to the hype. Boy was I wrong.
S1E1 synopsis: The boys go shopping at DICK's sporting goods 🍆. JK moans like a cat in heat multiple times, picks out a "cute" outfit, and has a fruity drink. JM dies and is resurrected by two bottles of soju. JK is seen snuggling just right of center in the only bed that him and JM are sharing before the lights go out. No heterosexual explanation is given for this.
It's been a tough and disappointing couple of weeks. Recent events in the broader fandom are a good reminder that we don't really know these guys. This is a double-edged sword for JKKs. A lot of our analysis and theories rely on identifying patterns that indicate the members have something to hide. On the flip side, we can also be susceptible to red herrings, misinformation, and deep fakes (thanks Gemini 🙄). I often remind myself that what they allow us to see is 1% of the full story. I try not to set my expectations too high or put any of the members on a pedestal (including JM and JK). I'll keep having fun speculating about Jikook, but I'll also endeavor to avoid emotional investment. If I knew the members in real life, there's a possibility I wouldn't like them as people. That's OK, the world is full of people that do not share my personal values.
We've seen JK wearing a Hublot timepiece with a rainbow band at a few recent soundchecks and also on stage. I may have missed the conversation but I have thoughts about this.
For a man who wears solid blocks of subdued colour, mostly black, charcoal, and white - and occasionally warm grey if he's feeling cheeky - that rainbow watch strap is a bold choice. And if my suppositions are right, it's even bolder than it first appears.
Fair warning, this might be too long and boring for people who aren't interested in the minute details. Feel free to skip :)
For anyone who revels in the chasing down of useless information, let's go!
I saw a couple of accounts reporting that he was wearing the gemstone studded Hublot Big Bang Unico Rainbow**.
I can see why that would have been the obvious deduction - it is the only watch that has the rainbow strap as standard.
But I don't think it's correct.
It's a little difficult to tell because most of the photos of it are blurred but his watch doesn't have the sparkle you would expect of a watch with nearly 220 gemstones on the case and bezel.
If you look closely at the photos of JK's watch you can see 3 buttons and two subdials. It has a silver bezel and black watchface.
Another factor is that the Unico Rainbow models are a few years old. As JK is the Hublot ambassador it makes sense that he'd be wearing their newest offerings rather than a watch released 3 or 4 years ago.
I think his watch is the Big Bang Original Titanium.
One of these watches is not like the others...
And that would make sense because the other watches we've seen him wear look to be the Reloaded All Black and the Original Black Magic. They're all from the latest range.
So let's assume that's the case - it's a new model Big Bang Original Titanium. But it's not standard issue. It doesn't have the black rubber strap that model comes with.
And this is where it gets interesting
Jungkook's watch is custom fitted with the rainbow alligator strap.
That's easy to organise, according to the Hublot website, because all the newer models can be fitted with any of the straps that match the size. All you have to do is visit a Hublot store, order the strap of your choice, and have them fit it to your watch in the store.
But you have to request this separately from purchasing the watch. There's no option to customise during the order process.
So whether Hublot presented JK with a range of watches, or they asked him to select what he wanted from the latest range, he would have had to request the watch strap be changed.
If he had merely wanted a colourful watch, he could have chosen from the 97 models in the Big Bang collection.
There are many colourful options ranging from pastels to metallics to primary colours. But I suspect those might not have suited his purpose.
And the Unico Rainbow watch with its 220 sparkly gemstones wouldn't have suited his aesthetic. It's way too obtrusive.
The rainbow strap attached to an understated watch, however... that isn't so noticeable. It's a far safer option for a boy who is shy.
Make of this what you will, but we know that watch strap was a very conscious choice, and required some effort since it had to be fitted by request. (And I do wonder whether customisation would mean that it doesn't actually count as promotional. I don't know enough about these things - maybe someone can tell me if he would have had to buy that one.)
**To me the Unico Rainbow is such a flashy, outrageous piece that it has a very niche market. The statement it's making is more about dollars than identity. Unless you're Liberace, then it would suit perfectly.
This girl just articulated perfectly what i was saying in this post unless you're a beard or in it for the money, Jikook being close should bother you to no fucking end.
The fact that June happens to be both the FESTA and the Pride month has never sounded like a coincidence to me, and in honor of both I thought of specifically sharing just a few special thoughts regarding BTS.
What I wanna focus on is something that matters quite heavily too, when it comes to a potential queer and closeted couple like Jikook, and more largely when it comes to being an idol who represents a group, and a status. Someone like Namjoon.
The discourse on Jungkook being a “minimoni hater”, or on Namjoon’s worst nightmare being Jikook sitting close, is funny and, to me, not harmful to an extent. But just in case someone happens to misunderstand such irony, missing the true essence of these three’s relationship, I wanna share some thoughts and facts.
All members have been, in different ways and modalities, supportive of the LGBTQIA+ community. They have been inclusive, honest, they have spread a message that nowdays is missing in so many contexts and so many artists’ moral code. The message of humanity. Seeing us all, as a whole.
Namjoon specifically, as a leader, has always had some kind of deep responsibility on his shoulders, and I can’t help but feel that too when I put myself in that position, as a young, dreaming rapper, who chooses to handle the representation of 7 different individuals with all that comes with it. Especially when you’re tied to them emotionally, you’ve grown with them, and you’re empathetic and wise like he is.
Even when there are moments of tension, between him and Jikook, or instances where his resting face is interpreted as annoyed by their public proximity, I personally and firmly believe that it all comes from a place of knowledge, support, and care for the queer community that Namjoon has always - and I repeat always, loud and clear - embraced. Since he was a trainee. A debutant. When no one else dared to do so.
We don’t know what sexuality Namjoon identifies with, but for the sake of inclusivity I like keeping every door open for the members unless they’re vocal and open about it. Which means that with RM, we not only have a potential queer man himself - who could personally understand the struggle and the reality of it all - but that we could have a potential queer man who’s also incredibly educated, opened to learn and become the most respectful and mindful person AND leader ever.
The conversations he must have had with Jikook are endless, and the fact that together with Jimin he’s the only one Jungkook opens up with about his struggles proves everything I’ve been preaching and claiming for years. Namjoon’s behavior is always moving in a protective direction, meaning that not only most of the time he gets depicted as this annoying guy who wants to keep Jikook apart, to keep them small, and silent, and to make them look distant; but that when he’s actually trying to keep things professional between them, he’s only doing it for them, knowing how they feel about it, without malice, or personal interest.
Jikook have definitely opened up with the members individually and together, about this or that, but I’m sure they’ve been very honest with RM about their closeted situation. And that makes Namjoon someone who’s the exact opposite of what these jokes - that I enjoy! but tha happen to go too far sometimes… - try to say.
Someone who actually knows, and cares, and wants to keep things calm, as long as they have to be kept that way, and someone who has the responsibility of keeping the pieces together and guide them towards better directions. Jikook love Namjoon to the bone, and that tells me everything I need to know about their relationship and behavior with each other. They wouldn’t look up to him, admire him, open up with him, love him and care for him that much if they didn’t know and didn’t have PROOF of Namjoon feeling love, support and the uttermost respect for them back.
At the end of the day two things can be true at once. Jungkook doesn’t like Jimin being flirty with Namjoon, but was attracted to his thighs himself. And at the end of the day, Namjoon tries to smooth the tension when Jikook get too obvious on camera, but also knows that Jimin is himself thanks to Jungkook, and has the biggest, proudest smile when he sees them free, happy, and true.
To conclude this little reflection, I wanna get deeper and remind us all of the many, many times Namjoon has been lovingly vocal about his support for the queer community, which I appreciate in Namjoon specifically because it’s always filld with knowledge, and sensitivity, and a deeper sense of perspective. Every support is valid and beautiful, but his is very delicate and dear to me, especially because it has been happening since he was very young.
The first example I wanna bring up is Party (XXO) by the girl group GLAM. I don’t see this being mentioned often, so I wanna bring it up in the discussion. The song is very, very explicitly about same sex love, like maybe one of the few in the last decades, and was co-written by Namjoon himself. It debuted in 2012.
It’s the same song where Jimin makes a brief appearance too.
Hope this king doesn’t mind me sharing some digital footprint content it’s all for the sake of his favorite community❤️
I find it endearing that both he and Jimin accepted to be part of this project, with the pride that characterizes them each. When I think of Jimin specifically around these years, I get pretty emotional, because no matter how many people told him he “liked men”, or that his attraction for Jungkook was “weird”, and no matter how hard he tried to look different, tougher, more masculine, he never closed up when it came to what mattered. He knew what he liked and despite all the struggles with his identity he was one of the first members, if not the first, to embrace it and not push it away. But it’s just a digression.
As for the pre-debut, some people often talk about a song made by RM in 2010 called “Where you at”, published 3 years later, where the lyrics say “baby where you at, boy where you at”. Still proving his general consideration of all people that could be listening or, maybe, his own need of expression.
Also in 2013, RM shared he watched the french movie “Blue Is The Warmest Color”, which follows the love story between two women. And a year later, on Twitter, he shared the song “Same Love” by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. A beautiful anthem that everyone knows, and that I personally listen to every once in a while when I need hope. The chorus is very touching, but the entire song is just so insightful, and cuts through. I recommend you to listen to it while you read the lyrics, because they deserve to be heard.
He has a story of recommending queer songs. Like when he shared, in more recent times, “Girls Like Girls” by Hayley Kiyoko in his IG stories. Some years after debuting, he also recommended Strawberries and Cigarettes by Troye Sivan, the soundtrack for the queer movie “Love, Simon”.
Many of you must’ve heard of this film because its emblematic quote is Simon’s “I’m Still Me”. He says it to his mom after coming out.
That iconic quote from the movie is the same that Jungkook shared in his artwork in 2019. A year after the movie came out, and after Namjoon’s tweet. JK used “I’m Still Me” to describe himself during 2019 FESTA too.
Going back to Troye Sivan, openly gay artist that Jikook specifically support, Namjoon also sang “Fools” by him with Jungkook. One of the many duets with JK he has, like “I Know”, which is an unofficial song with both girl and boy lyrics.
In a 2017 interview with Billboard, RM was asked about it regarding the Serendipity lyrics, which are also gender neutral:
“I was reading the lyrics (Serendipity) are gender neutral, which I think is really powerful. Was that a conscious decision?
“Namjoon: The lyrics were based on rare and special things in life. So, I thought, those feelings transcend genders, cultures, and barriers between people”.
In a song posted for BTS fourth festa celebration, Namjoon also seems to refer to the queer movie “Moonlight”, following the story of a gay black man growing up, in the lyrics “runnin’ around, catching up all that light, in moonlight black boys look blue”. Speaking of queer movies I just can’t help but mention Tae, who has also explicitly stated he liked Called Me By Your Name and has recently posted in his stories that he was watching “Rage”, a 2016 Japanese movie that follows 3 separate stories at the same time, one of which is the painful story of a gay couple.
All members have been proud allies in smaller or bigger ways, and I wanna mention this because I’m not praising them for doing something very human and minimal, like supporting love in every form which is basic human decency, but because of the consistency and pure heart they show that support with in a world that needs public figures like them. Like Tae, like RM, people like Jimin who embrace their identity unapologetically, people like Jungkook who push against expectations and standards, people like Jin who include pride flags in their music videos, people like Yoongi who support queer-themed brands and lyrics, people like J-Hope who constantly spread messages on equality and love among humans.
It’s needed, the world needs it, and I admire BTS for doing their part in the collective healing process in such a fucked up society, above everything else they do that’s also inspiring, outstanding, brave and challenging.
I could go on on each one of them for hours. About their speeches, their lyrics, their behavior, their art. But I guess what I wanted to say has been said, and I hope it comes through as well as I feel it. Because these guys are intertwined with each other, and love each other, and if that queer couple we see existing among them is real, then their bond makes just more sense, as a support, as a net ready to catch them reciprocally whenever it’s needed.
Every single soul that makes up BTS has been extremely necessary so that each one of them became what he is. Namjoon, or any other member, was never an obstacle for Jikook. He is, and they all are, a fundamental part of their journey, that with love, learning, sensibility, growing up and friendship care, has helped Jikook become what and who they are today. Just felt like sharing this, today.
Happy pride month and happy BTS month to every army and queer pal. I love you and celebrate you deeply, and I send you the warmest hug ever💜💛💙🧡🩵❤️🩷💚🖤🩶🤍.
Pet theory: a certain well-known translator (and GOAT) on YT was initially a jkk skeptic. He stopped recapping AYS S2 when he realized he couldn't defend JM and JK anymore, and now he's a low-key Jikook/KM supporter.
When the first reports about Jungkook showing up during a Jikook livestream started circulating, I dusted off my old X account, the one I don't use to follow Polish politics.
The first thing that caught my attention was, unsurprisingly, how many people were trying to debunk it. Questions about whether it was AI, theories that it was just a coincidence, endless attempts to explain it away.
But more than anything else, one particular type of comment stood out because of how unbelievably common it was: people claiming they were doing it for Jungkook's safety.
I went back and forth on whether I should even write this, and whether I should say exactly what I think. As you can see, I decided to do it anyway.
Every time people try to censor what Jungkook does, or use his "safety" as an excuse to silence others, they're actually showing a lack of respect for Jungkook himself.
The same applies to constantly trying to explain away or reinterpret his actions. As fans, we're often not protecting him—we're protecting our own beliefs because we don't want to face the reality that's right in front of us. If the hate he's receiving isn't enough to make him stop doing something, then clearly he's made a conscious decision that it's worth continuing. He's an adult. He's fully aware of what he's doing.
Saying people shouldn't talk about something Jungkook himself chose to do because some fans might react badly is like saying BTS shouldn't release music because some people hate BTS. It's an absurd argument.
What frustrates me the most is that we've somehow convinced ourselves we're not allowed to openly enjoy something or even discuss something we like. Why? Because of some imaginary fandom rulebook? Did any of us sign a contract agreeing to those rules the day we became fans? No. Those rules don't exist.
What does exist is years of professional education on media communication, public image, and audience psychology. Entire university programs are built around understanding how audiences react to public figures. And (surprise~!)Jungkook studied exactly that. He graduated with honors.
The truth is, when people claim they're doing something "for Jungkook's safety" (or any celebrity's safety, for that matter), they're usually protecting their own idea of who they want him to be. They're trying to silence opinions that create cognitive dissonance for them. That's all it is.
If someone's genuine priority were his safety, they'd be applying to become his manager or personal security guard—not policing random fans online.
Jungkook is 29 years old. He's been an idol for 13 years, and for well over a decade he's been trained to navigate public life—how to communicate, how to interact with the media, what to say, when to say it, and how his words and actions will be perceived. He uses social media. He has internet access. He sees how fans react.
When you insist that he couldn't possibly have known the consequences of his own actions or words, you're not protecting him. You're taking away his agency. You're treating him as if he isn't capable of making informed decisions about his own life.
And, whether you intend to or not, you're also implying that he's either naive, irresponsible, or somehow incompetent at a job he's been doing professionally for over thirteen years. I don't think that's giving him the respect he deserves.

First let me congratulate you and thank you for producing such a valuable resource. It's easy to forget that fan archives essentially represent volunteer hours and effort. The quality and breadth of your account brought me back to Tumblr after many years.
I was especially impressed by your nuanced take on JK's "crush" story. Your take is very similar to my own. I consider myself an OT7 Jikook supporter. I'm actually Suga biased, even though I probably have the most in common with JK (gaming, anime, CK underwear collection). JK's crush story sounds a lot like things I used to say at that age before coming to terms with my own sexuality. Watching the boys reinvent and renegotiate their masculinity over the years also resonates with my own journey. Their moments of honesty and vulnerability are one of the reasons I love BTS so much, especially Jikook.
On to the actual question. I don't think you mention the "rainy day fight" in your timeline analysis. I was wondering when you think that may have occurred. I think there are enough details to roughly place the time period. This argument seems like a potentially important turning point in their relationship. If I were speculating, I might guess the rainy day fight is what preceded JK's softening attitude towards JM. So, perhaps sometime in 2014 or 2015 before they started engaging in more obvious courtship behavior. Definitely before 2016, by which time I believe the courtship period had ended and they became "official." All of this culminating in the GCFT honeymoon trip.
Thank you so much for cataloging all these wonderful memories, while keeping it classy and respectful to these two beautiful human beings.
Hello love. Thank you so much for your kind words. I got into this because of the pull those two had on my heart. There is something ever so special about the two of them. Beautiful human beings with a beautiful fairytale-like love story. If only people were willing to see it, to support it.
So thank you again for taking the time, reading my posts, my thoughts. I don't presume to know it all, these are my observations based on my subjective life experience, the way I see things in the context of who they are, where they come from, their surrounding and upbringings as far as we know about it. It's important for me to say this, because as per your question here, most of what I write is based on that. My perspectives of what I've seen, over the timeline (the timeline is VERY important - observing their behaviour, their dynamic over the years, see how it changes, recognizing at times a specific period of several days even where there is a clear change in the dynamic, being able to identify that that there was a moment where things changed between them - that there was a clear shift in behaviour). I'm not a young chick (kinda wish I was, lol), I have life experience, relationship experience, work experience and all those obviously influence the conclusions I come to.
As you mentioned, we also at times see ourselves in them. I, for example, saw myself in JK with his shyness, the way he had to have control over certain situations, especially in public or on camera, the need to have this protective mask. The need to be prepared to a fault and the panic when you are hit by a curveball. He's gotten better at this, although at times you still see that panic as it hits when he's dealt with a JM curveball (oh, JM loves to throw him those at times - one of his favourite pass-times, lol).
So yes, we clearly see things through our subjective eyes.
All I can say is that I feel blessed to have had a relatively good life (living through the good, surviving through the bad), a happy and healthy long term relationship, which allows me to see what said relationship would look like (do we even start talking about tkks and what that means about them?).
Ok, let's get down to business here.
You ask about The Rainy Day Fight.
My timeline. I'm so bad. I kind of stopped mid 2018 and haven't continued it. Maybe one day I'll have the time and much needed patience to follow up on it. So, my apologies there. But you are correct, I didn't talk about the rainy day fight in that. Mostly for 2 reasons. The first being that I didn't talk much about them before the shift in their dynamic. For me, when working on the timeline, it was about giving a short baseline and then, more importantly, where the change happened and where it took them. Second reason I didn't mention the rainy day fight being that other than Festa 2020 and Still with you, we really didn't know much about this fight.
First we heard about the fight was Festa 2020. We got a rough whereabouts of when it happened from JM (who, to be fair, didn't know what JK was talking about at the start) and we got that it was very impactful for JK, who carried it with him for all these years, enough to bring it up as something he felt he had to apologise for all these years later and enough for him to write a song about (we believe).
Here's me about that Festa story we got:
💬 4 🔁 11 ❤️ 89 · Hi did the rain fight happen before they got together or durning? I’m guessing before right? And the rain fight was proba
We waited for 3 years basically (since we first heard about the fight) for them to talk to us about it. And once they did, I had observations.
Funny how JK finally decided to open up and talk about this fight on the 5th of June 2023. A fight that they have been asked about time and time again for the 3 years that followed the Festa reveal . One of those Jikook "coincidences" I guess, that happening to be the day that Still with you was released for streaming for Festa 2020.
You know and I know, by now, that there are no coincidences with those two. Only patterns.
So, let's get down to it.
First to talk about it was JK in his live June 5 2023:

Followed by JM in his live on June 15th 2023:

I go into detail in both these posts. About what each one of them says and about what my thoughts are about it all.
You specifically ask me what my take is as far as the timing of the fight. And I do mention it in both my posts, but I will talk about it again.
JK and JM's accounts as to when it happens are different. According to JK it's pre-debus, when they were trainees, which would mean mid to late 2012 to mid 2013 , while according to JM it would be probably around 2014-15 (he's a little all over the place with his recollection of the timing).
As I mentioned in my posts, I'm betting on JK's account as far as the timing. I think that this fight was way more impactful to him than it was to JM. Not that it wasn't impactful to JM, but not in the same way it was to JK, who carried it with him for years to come. JM, back in the Festa dinner clearly remembered the fight, but you can also see, from the way it takes time for it to register with him, not to mention, again, him not quite remembering when it happened, that it was something that happened that left more of a sweet memory with him rather than any kind of bitter residue or something that was a defining moment for him.
I don't think this was a turning point as far as their romantic relationship. I really don't think this was about that. We don't know what JK said to JM, clearly neither of them wanted us to know that, as they both glossed over that part of the story. What we did get is that it was dramatic, that JM said he was washing his hands of JK and the impact that had on JK, who would have been 15 years old at the time (according to his timeline).
I gotta say that I'm also not sure JK knew JM that well at that point. Maybe not that side of JM. JM can be tough, he can be angry, sharp. And perhaps that was a side that JK didn't see of him until then. Which would have resonated with him even more believing that JM meant what he said. Because clearly in that moment of anger he said what he said, but also as clearly once JK showed vulnerability and needed him, that angry side was forgotten and he was back to hyung caring for a cute crying JK. So, that too makes me think this happened earlier rather than later. It's about their budding friendship rather than their budding romantic feelings.
I know that there are a lot of army and Jikookers that genuinely think that JK either didn't like JM to start with or wasn't close to him. I mean, there are still people that won't accept that the two are the closest duo in the group (because it ruins their ridiculous ot7 dream of everyone loves each other the same way). But I digress (you will come to see that happens a lot with me). I'm not going to go into it too much, but it is important for me to establish the baseline here. JK and JM were always close (from what we got from them close to and after the debut). All within the construct of JK's early years shy and bratty and sometimes perceived as cold shoulder behaviour. JM was a breath of fresh air, joining the others later on, closer to their debut, a connection to home (Busan). Someone that was cute and funny and warm and accepting and his older brother's age. Someone that clearly was enamoured by JK (at that point I think it was also about having someone that reminded him of home, Busan, his younger brother, someone that JM found fit so well into that big heart of his with his shyness and innocence). What many fans got back then, first years after the debut, was a bratty JK who tended to shy away from JM and JM's touch when on camera. A JK who time after time ranked JM last on the members looks. On the other hand they got to see a JM who is constantly fawning over JK, supposedly wanting his attention, while the younger isn't keen on giving him said attention. We have JM stating he wants to take him traveling, wants to go to the beach and hold his hand, wants to go on a date with him, asking for kisses, chasing after him, vying for his attention while JK is giving him a cold shoulder. All this on camera 2013 to early 2015. So what were people supposed to think? Right?
Well, actually, if you look closely, if you watch all the content out there, read interviews, you see a totally different picture. And most of the time it's coming from JK himself. And I'm talking about content from those years. Not new content. Fanmeets, interviews, company content from 2013-15. There is a reason why JM was the one who used to do the video logs with JK back in 2013. There is a reason why in American Hustle Life in that god awful episode they are "kidnapped" (that was so fucked up) when they are in that room sitting and waiting, thinking they have been kidnapped for real, it's JM that ends up sitting next to JK (this was edited out, but you have YG sitting next to him at first and then suddenly it's JM - the how and why is cut out in the editing but it's clear that JM is the one to calm JK in that situation). We have JK telling us in 2014 that he likes JM too much and that's why sometimes he acts the way he does. We have him telling us in 2014 that JM is the one easiest to talk to.
Btw, him saying he ignores JM in that same interview... yeah, not buying that for one second. Not in 2014. Yes, he was bratty. Yes, he was hot and cold (especially end of 2014 into 2015 when I believe he was struggling with pinpointing what it was he was feeling for JM exactly, struggling with having feelings of a nature he "shouldn't" be having). Again me digressing. My point is that JK wasn't ignoring JM. Definitely not off camera. He was seeking him out. He was sleeping with him. He was practicing with him. He was cuddling him while asleep. He was telling us that if he was a girl he would want to date JM.
My point after all of this is that this here, JK's reliance on JM, this was post the rainy day fight.
I think that JK's timeline is the accurate one. I think that this happened at a point when they were getting close, but not as close. A point when the bond with JM was building but JK didn't understand, just yet, how important JM was to him. Didn't know what it would mean to lose that warm blanket of JM's friendship, care and love.
We don't know what it was that JK said to JM, but we do know it was enough for JM to basically tell him to piss off. That he's washing his hands of JK. We don't know just how bad what JK said was, but again, I think that whatever it was, it was said earlier on in their bond and not 2014-15 because I do think JM was too enamoured by him by that point to have had such a severe reaction to whatever it was that was said at the time on the one hand, all to basically kind of forget about the fight later on. On the one hand we have JK holding onto this fight, clearly it being formative for him, feeling the need to bring in up years later, while JM remembers it, but it's clearly not something to dramatic for him. For JM to wipe his hands of JK in 2014-15, when they were clearly closer and JM was clearly invested in that relationship, whatever JK said would have to have been really hurtful on a level that you would think that JM would carry with him (even if forgiven, not forgotten). Also, if this was the turning point in their relationship, from friends to something more, I believe it would have been more impactful for JM as well. But it's not. It clearly meant more to JK. Something he carried with him. I think this is about JK realizing that he needs JM. That he wants him by his side, he wants him close as a close friend, as someone to look up to, someone to help guide him, someone to care for him, someone to look out for him, someone who can understand him. This isn't about romance. It's about the understanding that this is a person that you need by your side, and that what you did has pushed him away. That Eureka moment of realisation how important that one thing was to you after you had just lost it.
Another reason why I think this was pre debut and not about them moving from friends to more than friends is because it felt like Hobi wasn't aware of this fight. And we know that Hobi knows it all, lol. Hobi has seen these two grow from friends to lovers to life partners. Out of the lot of them Hobi is the one that has seen it ALL. Probably seen and heard too much. Things he would rather have not, lol.
One more thing to consider, something small and maybe inconsequential, is the fact that JK got lost, not knowing where he was. Chances are higher this would happen in the earlier days rather than later days (after living in Seoul for 3 to 4 years). Not that it couldn't, you know, it being at night, raining, him upset. But it would make more sense if it was earlier on (him younger and newer to the city).
Ok, so there you have it.
My opinion.
The rainy day fight happened pre debut and was a defining moment for JK more so than for JM as to just how important JM was to him as a hyung. We will probably never know what it was that JK said for JM's reaction to be as it was. It clearly stayed with JK all these years after. But whatever it was, it's also didn't have as big of an impact on JM.
One last thing before I go.
