Hello, this is Hanahaki Anon back at it again! I'll just refer to myself as Q from now on. You'll probably hear from me every once in a while because I like to ask questions.
Anyways, onto my next slew of inquiries (it's quite long, sorry in advance)!
I know you said there are almost no limits to yandere powers, but I still want to ask how far they can lean into the fantastical.
We know that Craig can manifest a dragon, and it’s implied to be able to breathe fire. So would a fox that could turn into a kitsune be able to use foxfire? What about manifesting illusions? And what about fairy ring mushrooms? If arranged into a circle, can they gain the magical qualities of the fabled fairy rings—such as forced dancing, teleporting elsewhere (bc the fairy realm probably doesn’t exist in this universe), curse of misfortune, etc?
Next up: do yandere powers affect physical traits even when not manifested? Like, is it possible for yanderes to have purple as a natural hair color or pink-colored eyes from birth bc of their plant?
And some questions about shadows: Are animal shadows only black, or can they have varying colors/transparency (even if only a small, distinct part like the red symbol of a black widow)? How do people even tell between species if not?
Can people with shadow animals manifest only a part of their shadow? For instance, having a just a monkey’s tail protrude from their back. I think Rohan had shadow dog ears on his head before, so I would think so, but what about manifesting it separate from their physical body? Like— just a floating paw or something. If so, could they manifest multiple animal parts in separate locations at once?
In the first installment of the Yandere Nation series, you said that animal shadows are a result of interbreeding during the founding days of Paradisus. Does this mean shadows are a recent development and there’s no precedent of them in earlier times? How did interbreeding of plant powers even lead to shadow animals?
Also, how do non-land animals fare when summoned? It’d be pretty funny if a fish shadow just flopped around on the floor when called upon, but also wildly impractical. Would it instead float or appear to swim through the air? Can shadow animals that normally can’t swim be able to?
About Paradisus in general: How even is the yandere economy still standing? How does the country make up for the deadweight loss caused by locked up beloveds who can’t work and the large amount of spontaneous murders. This is without taking into consideration the fact that yanderes have a 3-day work week, which severely impacts work efficiency.
Lastly, there are a few inconsistencies I noticed that I want to clear up. Apologies if it seems like I'm nitpicking—I just adore your universe so much I reread it constantly, and therefore end up picking up a lot of details.
In A Day in the Life of a Yandere Story Main Character, we learn that only a shadow can sever another shadow, and that Craig’s uncle severed his. But in Imitation is the Most Obsessive Form of Flattery, it said that the uncle was deported because his hair turned into kelp, meaning he doesn't have a shadow. So did the uncle not do the severing? If so, who did? Which yandere with a shadow out there is willing to do severings when it’s considered the worst crime by yanderes?
In A Day in the Life of a Yandere Story Main Character, it says that Craig (as a bearded dragon) tracked Rich to his prison by scent. But in The Best Revenge is Living Well (and Letting Your Enemies Destroy Themselves), Craig tells Miriam that he can’t track down Dinah. Is there a specific reason for this?
Thank you for taking the time to read through my ramble-fest!
Not just any fox can turn into a kitsune. You need to find a plant with kitsune in the name. A fox shadow is just a fox. It would be rare to be able to manifest powers only very loosely connected to a fox like a kitsune.
Now, fairy ring mushrooms have the name and can manifest the powers, except as you already said, the fae realm doesn't exist.
No pink or purple haired yandere characters, sorry! Yanderes are glad not to have any outward indicators.
Yup, yanderes can manifest just parts of their shadows (like ears). But no, they can't have ears on their head and then an earless shadow running around a mile away.
Yandere powers got stronger over time and from more yanderes marrying each other, resulting in shadow powers. Yes, shadows are a recent development. (If you define recent as the last few hundred years.)
Aquatic shadows can swim between shadows.
Research has shown that countries can switch to a shorter work week with no loss in productivity. In fact, people work more efficiently with shorter work hours. Google Iceland trials, where efficiency increased. As for fewer people in the workforce, you are free to disagree with me but I would argue we have a lot of useless jobs. Paradisus has also automated a lot of jobs with robots.
Uncle had a northern kelp crab. This is definitely not a plot hole and you cannot prove otherwise.
Craig could track Rich because Rich was in his house and he followed the trail backward. It's a lot harder to track someone who could be anywhere in the city with just some clothing as scent.
