love those condescending posts that are all ‘read real books not just fanfiction’ because as someone who reads a lot of “real books” I can confirm, quite readily, that there is no shortage of fic writers who are, hands down, outwriting the effing pants off many published authors of “real books” and while yes it is good to read fiction and non-fiction widely and indiscriminately to broaden your horizons and experience ‘something other than tropes’ (as if original novels don’t also use those lol) I will not abide a single eyeroll re: fanfiction
