Update

It's been a very long time again!

Well, around the middle of January, I found myself completely unable to cope at work and was signed off by the doctor for four weeks. Following this, I was diagnosed with OCD, generalised anxiety disorder and misophonia, for which I was prescribed a course of therapy. I finished this on Wednesday and am very, very grateful for the perspective and coping mechanisms that this allowed me to develop. My therapist was great and I cannot fault the NHS for how I was treated. The anxiety in particular is far more under control. The OCD/misophonia won't ever really go away completely, but it's now much more manageable. 

On the back of this, I made some important decisions about work. I'm no longer a class teacher and have a small intervention group in the morning for children with special needs. In the afternoons, I teach year three, which is OK. I've asked to have an even more reduced role next year, possibly as a teaching assistant. I've no idea what that role is going to be just yet, but it's likely to involve a pay cut due to the shorter amount of hours I'll be working. 

The shorter amount of hours will enable me, in theory, to work on what I've decided I want to do in the long term: write for children. I've decided to stop waxing lyrical about what it would be like to write professionally and actually give it a go. I haven't written anywhere near as much as I'd like in a long time, which isn't ideal, but I'm hoping to get my pens and paper out and start ficcing again, as well as beginning to draft stories for small people.

Apart from work, which has taken far too large a role in recent years, my life is very good and I am very grateful for that. I moved out of my parents' home just over a week ago and into a lovely 1960s high-rise flat in the city with my boyfriend. That has naturally taken up a lot of my time as well, but now we're settled I'll have more time to do things, primarily of course, writing. 

I'm not saying I'll be as active as I was a couple of years ago, but the plan is to finish my WIPs, finish writing fics I owe people (I am so, so sorry) and to work on a couple of new bits to get back into the swing of things.
