While this is a day to appreciate the history and cultural significance of beloved mythical creatures, it's also a great time to consider their real-life counterparts that actively exist in nature!
Here are a few animal fun facts based on these real life dragons!
Bearded Dragon: Their namesake comes from the "beard" of spikes under their chin!
Komodo Dragon: Apex predators, the biggest of Earth's dragons! They are the largest lizard on earth, reaching up to 10 feet and weighing more than 300 pounds. They can reproduce asexually -- no partner needed! But once babies hatch, they're thrown into chaos. Juvenile komodos fight for survival against cannibalism by adults. It's a dragon eat dragon world out there!
Leafy Seadragon: Despite being seadragons, these creatures are very poor swimmers! They rely on their very elaborate leafy camouflage to avoid predators. They are closely related to seahorses and pipefish, and just like them, the males are the ones who care for the fertilized eggs. However, they don't have a pouch to carry the eggs, so they carry them carefully under their tail.
Blue Dragon Sea Slug: Tiny, beautiful and fierce! They're only an inch in size but have a sting that, in some instances, can be life-threatening to humans! They can eat creatures like the Portuguese man-of-war and then store it's stinging cells to use against potential predators later!
Chinese Water Dragon: These impressive reptiles can run very quickly; and sometimes, they will run bipedally (on two legs) like a human! They are excellent swimmers and can stay submerged for up to 90 minutes!
Draco Lizard: Also known as flying dragons, flying lizards and gliding lizards, they have an enlarged set of ribs that allows membranes to extend to create wings! They can't do powered flight like a bird might, but they can glide pretty far -- glides as long as 200 feet have been recorded!

I made a LEGO fish tank and filled it with Axolotls!
I just made a LEGO fish tank and filled it with a few fish and bunch of axolotls! 😁 I’ve been meaning to build this for a while and I’m really happy with how it came out!
Did you know? You wouldn't be able to have a fish tank like this with actual axolotls! This masterpiece is an impossibility! It blends habitats and behaviors that just would not be feasible in reality...
❌ Axolotls live exclusively in freshwater, this tank features a Yellow Tang (Zebrasoma flavescens) and a Banggai Cardinalfish (Pterapogon kauderni) which are both saltwater fish. Rather than living among the coral reefs of the ocean, axolotls in the wild live near the rocky and muddy lake bottoms in their freshwater habitat.
❌ Axolotls tend to be mildly solitary; they don't do well with multiple tankmates, at least not without enough space and food to share! Although they've got a cute, goofy grin, don't let that trick you. It's them against the world. In their natural habitat, food is scarce and they won't hesitate to nibble on (or fully eat!) fish... or even another axolotl if they're big enough to!
What are axolotls?
Axolotls are aquatic salamanders from Mexico with a unique look about them... they have gills on the outside of their body! They are critically endangered and can only be found in two lakes in Mexico, Lake Xochimilco and Lake Chalco, near Mexico City. You might be used to seeing them from Minecraft, or as cute merchandise.
Axolotls come in a variety of colors (known as morphs!), but in the wild, they look much different. To better blend in with their surrounding, they have a dark, speckled appearance to blend into the dark water, rocks and mud.
The uniquely colored axolotl morphs that aquarium enthusiasts keep would be easy pickings for predators if they were out in the wild!
Unfortunately, axolotls are critically endangered. They are both everywhere and nowhere. With an extremely small habitat range, urbanization, invasive species, and pollution, axolotls are nearly wiped out entirely from their native habitat. It is estimated that only between 50 and 1000 individuals remain in the wild (IUCN Red List of Threatened Species).
However, they will never truly go extinct due to being abundantly present in the exotic pet and scientific community. Hobbyists adore their quirky, derpy appearance, their hardiness, and the unique variations that can be bred. Scientists marvel at them and study them with high hopes for the future of medicine, due to their remarkable ability to regenerate limbs and organs, even in extreme conditions.

No spoilers here, but damn, the series finale for G-Witch was something else! We had gotten spoiled a little, only enough to know that something intense happened, but honestly, with it being the season finale, it makes sense for it to go big or go home! With all that said, Vyxenna has been excited to have and build the Witch from Mercury kits since they were announced. She finally built the Gundam Lfrith last night on stream! She'll be building the Gundam Aerial soon, too!
Here's a silly clip from last night's stream. Just imagine if this were how Gundam resolved all conflict with their crazy super powered mechas! Make love, not war! 😂
Be sure to follow us on Youtube for more silly stream shenanigans, model builds & more!

Vyxenna and I are excited to start a new year with you! This year has been a challenge, but good things are coming. Let's kick off the new year together 1/1/2023 at 3PM EST! 🥳🎊
Building some LEGO, singing some songs & chatting! Link below!
This is my modern/roommate au for them 💁♀️ I had a lot of fun coming up with the paragraph part :)
Please excuse any typo’s my drawing program’s spelling check isn't the best 🙃
Some additional head-canons:
Even though they have an apartment they live and pay rent in, none of them are ever home, much. Luffy’s sleeping over his friends’ houses after hanging out with them, Ace is pretending he’s homeless, and Sabo sleeps at the hospital most of the time. sometimes two of them will be home at the same time, but its almost never all at once on any given day.
Even though they are never home, one day of the week is sacred. The day that no matter what they come home and spend the day together. Thursday. Laundry day
Luffy odd odd jobs done in the past include: possum wrangling, “get my friend out of that tree please, he’s drunk and i don’t want to call the cops”, PC setup (he didnt know anything about it, but somehow he got it all right. Somehow.), performing at a party, assisting in a lab, impromptu chore-boy, and many more.
Nami takes care of Luffy’s Odd job finances and makes sure he gets paid the proper amount. He lets her take a cut, and even though she does indeed want that money, she unfortunately knows Luffy needs that money more than she, so she doesn’t take it. The amount of self restraint she exhibits astounds even she. She is truly a saint (according to her).
The only laws that Luffy knows are 1) his friend (self proclaimed) Law and 2) the Miranda rights, as he heard them while Sabo was getting arrested that one time.
Luffy thought the Law lecture he went to was supposed to be talking about his friend (self proclaimed) Law. He wanted to support his buddy (self proclaimed), not learn about federal law!
No one has kept track of how many times Sabo has went to jail. whenever he’s asked, he changes the number every time.
Sabo had the absolute worst time getting that big ol’ tattoo across his arm. He cried a couple times through it, although he would never admit it. It was an investment that he was willing to make, however, and he thinks it turned out sick as hell. So does everyone else. Because the tattoo is sick as hell.
Ace watch shenanigans:
“hey ace, what time is it”
“One sec,” he checks his watch “uhhhh 10 at night” (Its clearly the middle of the day)
“Thanks, man”
Dadan calls to check in on them every Thursday night. She pretends she doesn't care about them, but the reality is not looking good for her.
Sabo has been a childhood friend to Luffy and Ace and has slept over the house they lived in with Dadan many times, but he didnt actually come to officially live with them until he was finally kicked out of his parent’s house when he was 16. Dadan has always been more of a mother to him than his biological one ever was and he treasures her even though he says he doesn’t. Actions often speak louder than words, as the two are literal besties despite both verbally expressing their disdain for the other more than praise. Sabo is clearly her favorite of the three brothers and she's the most lenient with him (which is something they all exploit).
Luffy and Ace come to live with Dadan in the au the same way they live there in canon, their fathers are not present in their lives and Garp dropped them both off at her doorstep and expected to take them in.
That’s all I got for now. These guys are fun and I love them very much :)
The level of detail by Oda here is insane. Brag Man is, of course, the book Nami used on Little Garden to figure out there were giants, which Oda later confirms in an SBS
If Brag Men was already world famous when Robin was a child then the archeologists chucking it into the lake wasn’t the thing that ensured its survival into the future, but I’ve always interpreted this SBS as saying that it’s because of the archeologists saving the book that it was reprinted and became well known in the twenty years after Ohara’s destruction. We’re shown Government agents finding all the books in the lake after the Buster Call, and I had always head-canoned that they were rescued and restored using Vegapunk science or a Government official with a Devil Fruit that could restore paper, with he Government choosing in a controlled setting which texts to save and which to destroy.
Fifteen years later it turns out I was half right. What a time to be a One Piece fan.

Vyxenna built a LEGO Star Wars Y Wing Starfighter last night! The last parts of the build were captured on Twitch. It was cozy and fun. It's just so satisfying to see how all the little pieces of LEGO come together to create something amazing by the end of a build.
It's also really cool when the builds include playable mechanisms! Although we're primarily collectors, we also do some LEGO play with our daughter, and we'll probably do that even more as she gets older! After all, kids like to press buttons and turn knobs and make things go "Pew Pew!" (I mean, so do adults, let's be honest!) so it's always fun to discover builds that incorporate those types of things.
If you enjoyed this, follow us on Twitch & subscribe to our Youtube channel. We'd love to see you at our next livestream!
People in the comments being all bitter. As if the arts aren’t out here giving you a reprieve from all the shit y'all go through. As if the arts aren’t out here making sure you live a little bit instead of just surviving.
