I am from Eastern Ky, USA, the Bible Belt, raised in the Baptist Belief of God the Father, Jesus Christ His Son, & the Holy Spirit who guides me. An area where education is a must to equip people for whatever job they want. A place where you will find farmers, manufacturers, retail stores, & fast food restaurants in abundance. Everyone has electricity, water, telephone, Television, & social media. Everyone has access to medical care. There are many programs available through our communities to provide food, housing & medical care when a person has a need. The people are becoming more acceptance of the diversity of religions & nationalities that are settling in our area. We have been raised to love our neighbors as ourselves.! We may not always see things the same way but we will agree to disagree! If you love friendly people, good country cooking, & outstanding views of nature, Eastern Ky is a must to make your home! So ya’ll come !!

Type 2 diabetes

More than 30 million Americans have diabetes (about 1 in 10), and 90% to 95% of them have type 2 diabetes. Type 2 diabetes most often develops in people over age 45, but more and more children, teens, and young adults are also developing it.

CAUSES

Insulin is a hormone made by your pancreas that acts like a key to let blood sugar into the cells in your body for use as energy. If you have type 2 diabetes, cells don’t respond normally to insulin; Your pancreas makes more insulin to try to get cells to respond. Eventually your pancreas can’t keep up, and your blood sugar rises. High blood sugar is damaging to the body and can cause other serious health problems, such as heart disease, vision loss, and kidney disease.

SYMPTOMS

Type 2 diabetes symptoms often develop over several years and can go on for a long time without being noticed (sometimes there aren’t any noticeable symptoms at all).

MANAGEMENT

Unlike many health conditions, diabetes is managed mostly by you, with support from your health care team (including your primary care doctor, foot doctor, dentist, eye doctor, registered dietitian nutritionist, diabetes educator, and pharmacist), family, and other important people in your life. Managing diabetes can be challenging, but everything you do to improve your health is worth it!

What is HIV

HIV is a chronic condition, HIV stands for human immunodeficiency virus. It is the virus that can lead to acquired immunodeficiency syndrome or AIDS if not treated. Unlike some other viruses, the human body can’t get rid of HIV completely, even with treatment. So once you get HIV, you have it for life. Since the beginning of the HIV epidemic in 1982, the majority (83%) of HIV cases diagnosed among Kentuckians have been reported among males (8,739 cases). In terms of age at time of diagnosis, more male HIV cases were diagnosed at ages 30-39 (2,940 or 34%) than any other age grouping. Among white males, the highest percentage of cumulative cases was aged 30-39 years at the time of diagnosis (36%). Among black males, 35% of cases were aged 20-29 years and 29% were aged 30-39 years at time of diagnosis. The percentage of Hispanic males aged 20-29 at time of diagnosis (40%) was higher when compared to blacks (35%) and whites (28%). Conversely, Hispanic males had the lowest percentage of cases diagnosed at ages 40-49 years (14%) as compared to black males and white males (20% and 23% respectively). Six percent of black males were teenagers at time of diagnosis compared to 2% of white males and 2% of Hispanic males.

A healthy lifestyle is a lifelong commitment, adult 65 years and older make up the fastest growing age group in the United States, and around the world. Whereas 5.2 percent of the population was over 65 in the year 1950 in the US, this percentage is projected to grow to 15.9 percent in 2050.Modern medicine has made it possible for people to live longer, most individuals who live a long life must combat sensory, motor, cognitive, and social challenges such as vision loss, poor hearing, mobility difficulties, memory loss, social isolation, and loneliness. Belonging is a fundamental human need. Technologies can provide mechanisms for social connection to augment the usual methods. They can connect family and friends with shared experiences that accommodate different roles and kinds of communication. As the world's population continues to age, technology designers will benefit from viewing seniors not simply as users with singular impairments to human-computer interaction, but rather as human beings with rich and diverse sources of motivation, pride, and fulfillment. Creating technologies that allow seniors to remain active members of their family and community while pursuing their interests is just as important as improving interface-level mechanics.

I am originally for West Africa (Cameroon) and I have live in Powell County (KY, US) for approximately 13 years. Powell County is my home, West Africa is also my home, if I moved back to Africa I will be home sick, staying in Powell County I am always home sick LOL. culture is everchanging, with time culture change. Since I moved to the Us a lot of things in that definitions have changed for me, some remains the same.
