You are the most versatile and multitalented person I know. The way in which you can translate, clarify and articulate concepts that take some people years to figure out just comes naturally to you. To be around you is enrichment. Whether this is related to business, art, psychology, or anything else. I have never been an easy or straightforward person, but you are one of the few people who was brave enough to spend days on end by my side in the middle of nowhere. You are a quiet strength of balance. That has immeasurable value. Thank you for your consistent presence. It has made me feel seen, heard and understood.
I know it's heavy sometimes, but you yourself are an anchor. Trust in yourself.
I have been a burden to you and I am sorry. You are an eagle and i have been trying selfishly to keep you caged for my own benefit. Never have I known anyone with more determination than you. Your drive is unmatched. You will have an amazing life because that is what you decided you deserve and so it will be. You go through life competent like none other, and fierce like someone who knows exactly what they are going for. All while looking like a damn Disney princess. You show up for others even when you don't have anything left to give. You are reliable and loyal even when it doesn't serve you. You are kind, gorgeous, incredibly intelligent, and everything else I wish I were. Remember to show up for yourself as you did for me. You are the gift that never stops giving. Remember the sheer luck of having loving parents and a sister who adores you. A whole support system, we are all rooting for you. You deserve the world.
My home in a person. You taught me that a real connection exists even in silence, in distance. You taught me that no matter what people have going on in their lives, they can still be there for you. You taught me that I can indeed have that feeling of family, of love, even when we are not related. Mahault is the luckiest little girl on earth. Your home is a calming place because you have your priorities straight. It's love first, support first, this current moment first. Everything else will follow. "Thank you" doesn't cut it. I have never once left you without a smile on my face. Thank you for the amazing memories & the unforgettable adventures.
What a woman. How badly I wished I could become you. You are the embodiment of confidence, kindness, resilience...
You are my sun, my light. Just knowing you are out there, living your best life, grounds me sometimes. You are such a beautiful person, who has this unbelievable ability to make anyday feel like everything is possible. To find fun in the mundane. To find adventure in the simplest of things. You shine, despite everything. You lift people up like your life depends on it, and I am so lucky to be one of those people.
I don't even know where to begin. You are my soulmate. You are the hand that holds mine when I feel I'm going under. Not a single creature on this planet knows me better and understands me like you do. You are the reason I cannot give up, you give me hope. You have taught me that it is okay to suffer sometimes. Life throws things at us that we cannot control, and it is okay to lose yourself for a minute, as long as you can come back from it. You are the definition of being humble. You know that the good things in life don't come easy, and you never give up. You take any challenge as an opportunity to grow, to learn. So many days, yours is the only voice I hear and there is no sweeter sound. You have become the best part of me. So often I feel lost and overwhelmed and I ask myself what you would do. And sometimes I think you wouldn't know either, and that would make me feel a little bit less alien, a little bit more human, and I would smile. There is so much more I could say, Jasmien, but words are lacking. I love you & im eternally grateful for the absolute pleasure of knowing you.
You are my idol. I've watched you carry yourself through life with such admiration. You taught me what it means to be openminded, and the value of being curious. To love people for who they are, even when you don't agree with their choices. You taught me the value of dressing up, meticulously taking care of yourself for it acts like putting on your armour. You taught me what it means to put faith and trust in someone. I'm sorry I haven't been there for you as much as I wanted to. I struggle watching you struggle. I don't know how to take it. You have been my motherfigure, and I don't even know how I could tell you that. I am far from perfect.
We've spoken a different language for most of my life. I needed you in ways that weren't natural for you. I thought you gave up on me, I thought I was a burden to you, for the longest time. A little bit of distance allowed me to see you were fighting your own battles when I was asking you to help me fight mine. You raised an independent daughter that way. There are scars on my heart that will stay there until it retires. But I see you now, the things you do that show you care.
Thank you, for all the good music, for all of the food you gifted, for all the work you put in to put that food on the table, for the fire in the fireplace so there would be a warm dry place to rest and for introducing me to the mountains. Thank you for putting up with me. Thank you for your time. You deserved a better daughter. A less needy one. A less turbulent and neurotic one. I was a slave to the expectations, i never meant to be ungrateful. I have always loved you & looked up to you, even when I didn't understand you.
To everyone else, thank you. I carry a piece of each and every one of you inside of me. From all of the music you introduced me to, to the way make my salads to techniques I used to fix up my house, to certain dance moves I stole, to inspiration and ambition and purpose. I have learnt through you all. I have grown through you all. The insights, the hurt, the laughter, the places we've been & the memories we made.
