This blog is currently mostly used for my complaints about Kylo Ren and Reylo. I don't like the character and I don't like the ship. Criticism is not hate and venting can be healthy.

R3ylos and tony stark stans have the exact same energy

I saw only about half of the MCU movies and don’t go into the fandom beyond some casual visits so I’m not the best person to talk about similarities between the two. I mean, I heard things about Tony stans and saw several posts but it’s not something I feel informed enough to talk about in depth. I do find Tony as a character to be overrated and some of those posts had me wtfing at the lengths to which his stans go but I don’t really know the fandom enough.

But as far as I know, even Tony stans didn’t try to campaign to bring him back to life the way r3ylos did and still do for bennyboy so they might just be a teeny tiny bit less obnoxious than r3ylos are. Again, this comes from someone who’s involved in SW but doesn’t really engage with MCU so take this with a grain of salt. I’m not agreeing or disagreeing with you, just saying I don’t know enough to accurately compare them.

r3ylos and I have a very different definition of what constitutes a “space nun”.

r3ylos: Rey is wearing white like some space nun

me: A space nun is a member of the Adepta Sororitas in WH40k franchise

Their definition: based on the fact Rey is not hooking up with Benny boy at the end of the movie

My definition: based on the intentional parallels the creators of the franchise put into the story

Yeah, I’ll keep my definition of a space nun, thank you very much.

This is from comments on this post. It’s basically a post about how the OP ships r3ylo and how people shouldn’t generalize shippers based on what they ship. There is no reason for that post to be tagged as #anti reylo but for some reason it is. And sure, tags don’t belong to anyone in the strictest sense of the word but can you imagine the uproar if I tagged something even slightly negative about the ship #reylo? Tagging etiquette is a thing.

You know what, I’m going to try it.

There, now I tagged it with both sets of tags just to try out what’s so appealing about ignoring the established tagging etiquette.

Do r3ylos not realize that when they say things like “our ship has the most fics on AO3 out of all het ships”, it’s incredibly easy for someone like me to go to fanlore, look up the ship stats and debunk r3ylos’ claims instantly? Or use the fanlore as a launching pad and look up stuff directly on site for more accuracy? And let’s not even go into their reasoning for “it’s popular therefore it’s good”. Or the logic leap that continues to baffle me ”it’s popular in fandom terms like number of fics, fanarts, tag followers etc. therefore it’s popular with general audience, too”.

They are a dedicated fanbase, sure. Still doesn’t make their ship good and the blatant lies to make it seem better are getting old super fast.

Why can’t r3ylos keep their stuff in their own tags? I’m not even talking about their asinine parallels to every fictional couple out there (but r3ylo is so original and unique and groundbreaking according to them 🙄). I’m talking about tagging their edits and art and stuff with tags that have absolutely nothing to do with the content of their posts.

r3ylos try to argue that people who dislike their ship are suppressing female fantasies, conveniently ignoring the fact that a lot of women fantasized about Kylo getting his ass kicked and/or being killed by Rey (or Finn or Poe or Chewie etc). But of course, those kinds of fantasies do not count for some reason.

You do know that KyloIsSad has been dragged from here to Timbuktu and back AND they deleted their Tumblr over that Tweet? That person is a dick and they're not representing many of the Reylo shippers I know. Every fandom has it's dicks and it's important to realize that (generally) the dicks are few and far between.

It would have been nice if it weren’t for the fact that the kylo-is-sad account is still active on both tumblr and twitter, is still getting a lot of notes and supportive asks and frames the whole situation as people being “fake woke” because it’s oBvIoUsLy A pArOdy and RPing as Kylo Ren absolves them of all responsibility for the content they put out.

Sure, some reylos are unfollowing and calling them out but the account owner doesn’t give a crap because a lot more reylos are flocking to them in support against the mean “fake wokesters”. Anon needs to check their facts.

It’s as simple as typing “most popular SW character” into a search engine to see that Kylo Ren is nowhere near as popular as r3ylos are making him out to be. Nor are his comics the best selling of all SW comics. Again, it’s something ridiculously easy to check out. But then again, r3ylos making things up or outright lying to make their ship and that pale pustule with ugly hair seem better is nothing new.

Somewhere in the multiverse, there is a timeline where SW didn’t veer wildly off-course post-TFA. Where r3ylo is just yet another dark ship languishing in its corner of the internet and never truly entered the movies’ proper. Where Kylo Ren came into his own as an unrepentant villain and was not woobified beyond all rational thought. Must be a nicer online experience for the me in that timeline.
