What Are Some Jump Higher Exercises?
Let’s get right to it and go over some jump higher exercises!
Basketball players from all over are constantly wishing they could increase their vertical jump in order to be a better player. With that in mind, lets look at some jump higher exercises that can be used to boost your vertical.
Now obviously these jump higher exercises are just a small sample of what you should do to increase your vertical leaping power. To get the most out of your jumping ability, you should be following a vertical leap training program.
These programs will cover a broad range of jump higher exercises and maximize your jumping ability. Check out this section to find the right training program for you.
Jump Higher Exercises
Deep knee bends are a useful jump higher exercise. It’s a basic exercise but a good one.
You simply stand straight and while keeping your back straight, bend your knees by crouching down. Try to go as low as you can and then rise back to a straight standing position.
Do this exercise as many times as you can for a total of three separate sets.
A great addition to this exercise is the deep knee bend jump. This is the same as above, but instead of simply standing back up after the knee bend, you explode from your bottom position and jump as high as you can. The key is to quickly jump with explosion.
Although these might seem simple, it’s amazing how tiring they can be!
Another easy set of jump higher exercises are what I refer to as “toe raises”. In fact, these are one of the exercises used in just about every vertical leap training program because of their effectiveness.
Here you simply stand all the way up on your tip-toes, then come back down so that you’re flat footed. As you do these, try to hold the position where you’re on your toes for several seconds and very slowly come back to the ground.
These will really work your calf muscles and ankle muscles as well.
