I was rewatching this movie the other day and got up to the point where she and Miss Honey meet for the first time in the classroom, and she mentions that her favorite author is Charles Dickens.

And, like, I always thought they namedropped him in order to make her sound intellectual, but it occurred to me really suddenly and violently that the reason she loves Dickens is because he writes about children who live in abusive systems and who’ve been orphaned or abandoned and she finds comfort and solidarity in it. Miss Honey’s reacts the way she does because Dickens is special to her, likely for the same exact reason. WOW DUH.

Updated theories about season 4 dates - To keep us sane.

Okay, so shall we do the math (again), count some days and weeks, in order to have something to hold on to, countdown to and basically keep us sane?

I’ve done this before (on other premises), but after Even’s birthday *painful flashbacks* everything has changed!… We desperately try to make up theories in order to stay out of a limbo and accept that we know nothing, and the lightning might as well strike on a very random day.

BUT…

Let’s take a look at season 4. What do we know? nothing! … But we know that the school year at Nissen ends on the 22nd of June. That means the season must end on Friday the 23rd at the very latest. 

I actually hope that is the case, and part of the reason everything is so late. If the season ends when the summer holiday begins, then we get to witness Even’s graduation AND Isak’s birthday on the 21st. Even deserves that, and we deserve that!!

We don’t know how long the season will be, but my guess is 10 episodes, so let’s stick to that (keep it worst case scenario so we won’t get disappointed)

We also know that there will be a break in the middle of the season. season 1 & 3 had a one-week break, and season 2 had a two-week break. We don’t know if the length of the break has anything to do with the time of year, or the length of the season. But let’s stick to a 1 week break (again, we are working with the latest the season will start)

So, that means we have to count 11 weeks back from Friday the 23rd of June, which is Friday April 7. So, the first update will (most likely) be a day between Saturday April 1st and Monday April 3rd.

We can’t compare trailer calculation with the previous seasons anymore, because they came out about 3 month before the season started, so we are way overdue.

My take is, that we will get it about one month before the season begins. It doesn’t make much sense to release it later that that. A month before is VERY close to the premiere date.

My conclusion: The trailer will premiere in week 9

A reason everything is so late compared to the other seasons could be that season 4 wasn’t planed out for Julie as the other 3 seasons were. Maybe she didn’t make her final decisions about the main before season 3 was over or close to end, because she wanted the fans reactions - And from there she had to figure out the story line.

Does this sound plausible to you? please tell me… am I way off?

oooooo boy i think there was a whole lotta kissing and shennanigans. I can tell you that much.

 I bet there was that first perusal of the room like “whoa fucking ace I’ve never been in anything this nice. it even has a mini bar!’ from Isak and a ‘yeah boy, I delivered’ from Even. 

(This of course being after 10 minutes of going up and down the hallways trying to figure out what room they were in because neither were paying much attention to the front desk lady’s parting words and Isak was too fucking distracted by Even kissing up and and down his neck to check the key card)

and then maybe a dirty look from a wealthy foreign family who had to cover their children’s eyes because of the unapologetic way Even was gripping Isak’s thigh.

And then when the exploration of the room was done- Even probably flopped on the bed and spread out and claimed he and Isak were kings for the night or whatever.

The Isak totally climbed on top of him and Even, couldn’t bare to let that happen, so they wrestled on the bed for a few minutes.

This of course led to… other types of wrestling with much less clothes

And then The Weekend starts and we are all high for this

Even: It’s 1:30am

Isak: …. and yet you are still awake :D :D 

Even: sleep is the cousin to death. didn’t i tell you this?

Isak: I’m about to be the cousin to death if I don’t get some sleep

Isak: I can’t fall asleep. That’s why I need you here.

Even: insomnia again?

He really shouldn’t be surprised. Even is kind of fucking extra like this. But still, at the first sign of knocking at the front door, Isak sits up in bed, cocks his head, and curses; making his way down the hall.

And opens the door.

Even stands there half asleep, half leaning against the doorway, before moving to gesture to himself in some kind of a ‘ta da!!’ motion.

“Halla.” Isak says, stupidly gaping at Even (the shirtless fuck. Did he really go outside and walk to Isak’s in nothing but sleep pants?)

Even yawns and leans down to peck Isak’s forehead, “Halla.” 

“I was kidding about you coming here.”

Even rolls his eyes and brushes past Isak, heading to his room, “Liar.”

(Okay, yeah, so Isak was 100% serious when he begged him to come over. But like- he didn’t think Even actually would. It’s a school night for fuck’s sake.)

Even collapses on Isak’s bed as he reached it, automatically crawling to his side and sliding under the covers. When Isak stares dumbly from the doorway, he opens his arms, “Come on. Let’s get some sleep.”

And this was- this was a lot. 

Even got out of bed at in the morning for him. Because Isak couldn’t sleep. Who does that?

“Are you going to stand there all night?”

Isak blinks and shuffles to his side of the bed, climbing in and immediately burrowing into the arms that slid around his waist. Even looks half-gone already, eyes drooping and breaths coming slower but he smiles softly, brushing an errant curl from Isak’s face.

“I thought sleep was the cousin to death?”

Even makes some hybrid noise between a chuckle and a yawn and God Isak loves him. He hasn’t told Even yet, but the feeling is strong in his chest.

“Death seems much more appealing with you in my arms.”

“That’s so fucking morbid.”

Even pinches the sensitive skin of Isak’s hips, “You know what I mean.”

Isak does, because suddenly the warmth of Even is almost over shadowed by- or rather leads to- the feeling of exhaustion creeping in. Isak feels his lids shudder, so he burrows closer into the crook of Even’s arm, kissing his bicep.

“Thank you,” Isak whispers, knowing that Even is already sound asleep.

And he follows so quickly after him that the hours of tossing and turning without Even seem almost comical.

in all seasons of skam, this was one of the moments when jonas’ friendship felt the strongest. because you can see how genuinely worried he is for isak. isak, the best friend he’s known for years, the best friend he grew with. and it’s so obvious jonas has always cared for isak, it was obvious back in season 1 when he asked eva if he could join them at the cabin so he wouldn’t be alone, because he knew he and eva were pretty much his only friends, and he tried to not make isak feel left out. it was obvious when isak’s dad ran off and his mother wasn’t doing well at all, and jonas stayed with him so he wouldn’t have to be so alone, face everything alone 

jonas knows isak, knows how isak usually behaves, knows that isak doesn’t go around pushing people like that, especially not a friend who was simply teasing him. in that moment, jonas doesn’t simply feel like isak is not behaving like his usual self. it’s more than that, jonas feels, sees that he’s losing isak, the isak he knows, and that isak is also losing himself. and it’s scary when you don’t recognize the best friend you’ve learned to understand and grown to so genuinely care about, the best friend whose well-being means so much to you. and you can hear the fear in jonas’ voice, in the way he curses, you can see it in his eyes as he tries to hold isak’s gaze, tries to read his face, tries to understand what’s going on. jonas is not angry and pushing isak away, he’s worried and trying to hold on to him as best as he can at that moment. because this is not only scary for jonas, it’s confusing as hell, he’s not used to seeing isak like this, i don’t think he’s ever had to deal with isak behaving like this 

and he tells him, in the next episode. that no one’s angry at him, that they’re just worried about him. he tells him that he can come talk to him, because i think that’s what they’ve always done. jonas knows he can’t force isak to open up, knows that isak will usually reach out to him when he’s ready, at his own rhythm. and this is why when isak finally makes the first steps to talk to him, jonas sort of immediately feels some sort of relief. and this is part of the reason why jonas reacts to isak’s coming out the way he does, like it’s no big deal. because it is no big deal to jonas. it’s no big deal to him in general, but especially in that moment, because he sees that his best friend hasn’t slipped away like he feared he might, that his best friend is here and that’s honestly all that could possibly matter to him

have some isak and even being cute while waiting in line because the starbucks line was long today:

isak’s had a really bad day at school - his bio test was a lot harder than he expected, and when he’d compared answers with sana after, they seem to have gotten different answers for everything? so all he wants to do is get kebab with his boyfriend and he’ll even let even hold his hand because he’s been growing braver in public recently. and honestly, he kind of needs affection right now. even had gotten there earlier, so he’d already bought his food before the line got long. so as isak’s waiting in this ridiculous line, even’s just casually standing next to him eating his kebab. isak’s trying his best not to glare at him in jealousy, but even catches on anyway. at first, isak refuses to take even’s food because he knows even’s been going through some shit lately, and seeing even eating more makes isak happy, makes him feel like everything’s fine again. but after a while, isak’s stomach starts grumbling, and even ends up feeding him spoonfuls of kebab. isak may blush a little at the pda but honestly even looks so proud that they’re able to do this now. by the time isak gets to the front of the line, he’s not even hungry anymore.

they decide to go shopping on a day with huge sales. isak tells even he needs a new snapback because jonas wants his back (really what kind of friend is he - isak is pretty sure that this goes against some provision in the bro code) but it’s really because even had complimented his green jacket the other day, and isak’s looking for a sweater in that exact shade. even keeps shoving clothes at isak like hey! this scarf would look so cute on you. and look at these jeans your butt deserves these jeans. even vigorously nods yes to whatever isak tries on because there’s no way his boy could look bad in anything right?? in retrospect this was actually a horrible idea because they end up in a line that nearly trails out of the store, arms overflowing with clothes. isak’s so impatient that he starts tapping his foot and humming without even realizing, and it’s only when even starts laughing that he realizes that he’s been humming 5 fine frokner?? even is so excited that isak’s singing their song, but isak just keeps protesting. “of course i wasn’t humming that!! i was humming this song by a rapper that you don’t know about. goddammit even you’ve lost your touch aren’t you supposed to be cool and hip? that’s it we’re breaking up.”

justin bieber comes to oslo, and of course noora makes everyone come with her. and let’s face it - even’s pretty excited. he’s not the biggest bieber fan, but he loves music, and concerts always make him feel alive in the best kind of way. meanwhile, isak would rather watch paint dry. the line is a mess, but the guy in front of them turns out to be just a little bit taller than isak and a little shorter than even. so while all their friends are having a heated debate about whether justin bieber really has changed, isak and even hang in the back. even decides to give isak constant updates about their spot in line, like “hey babe i know you can’t see this because you’re so short but we’re about 30 people away.” isak of course complains because he’s tall goddammit. he can see perfectly fine. but even just goes, “are you sure baby?? is the weather different down there?? do you feel like people don’t respect you because of your height??”

isak thinks even is the most ridiculous human being, honestly.
