I don't even have words for the depth of my hatred of the inescapability of xmas. If you want to avoid xmas you cannot leave your home for two months. You cannot take the subway or so much as go to the grocery store. You cannot watch youtube, you cannot watch television, you cannot listen to the radio, you cannot play online videogames, because there will be xmas ads and special events that don't call themselves xmas events but they sure as fuck aren't anything else. It makes me want to scream.

I honestly have less of a problem with actual religious christmas, where people go to midnight mass and have dinner with their families. ""Secular"" commercialized xmas that you can't escape, wall-to-wall xmas, can't-fucking-move-for-xmas is what makes me want to wear earplugs and dark glasses for a quarter of a year until it's all over.

And I live in New York fucking City, Jew capital of the United States! I don't even have to go to the mall ever! But they sure as fuck play xmas music in every grocery store while I'm doing my damnedest to celebrate Chanukkah, the holiday about resisting assimilation!!

What you need is a very loud portable Bluetooth speaker and some good hanukkah music to play on it, preferably in Hebrew or Yiddish. You might get yourself permanently banned from the Rite Aid for your public display of Jewish insubordination but that's the spirit of hanukkah baby
