I have an 8 gallon mixed reef saltwater tank that Is inhabited by a sexy shrimp and 4 snails. I have also got 2 betta fish. Soon to be in a 10 gal tank. :)

We just went 41 hours without power and the people we live upstairs from were gracious enough to let us use power from their generator. Of course we only plugged my tanks in but they literally would not have survived. My saltwater dropped 10° in 1.5 hours until I wrapped it in pillows and blankets and floated hand warmers in it. I had to circulate the water myself for hours just to keep it alive until we were able to get power back from them. I. Am. So. Grateful. I could cry right now. The bettas are great. :) Plus one of my corals actually looks better now than it did before we lost power... ö

But I need a tumblr break. I know that things like feminism and animal rights and abuse and the like are not something we pretend isn’t there… But I’m far too depressed in general to handle seeing it all day long on tumblr. I mean… I cry daily at this crap.

I can’t take it anymore and it just adds to my anxiety. I’m sorry guys. Idk when I’ll be back. Love all your blogs and every person behind them.

Now I KNOW something is wrong. Is this fin rot? He’s still very active, wouldn’t swim still for these pics. Should I get some salt? He’s in a 2.5, should I put him in a smaller tank? I’ve never dealt with this before. :(

Maybe it’s not fin rot, because he was fine yesterday and I have pics from 2 or 3 days ago. I wonder if his tail got caught in the filter? Thoughts?

Could be fin rot— males are highly prone to it because they have lots of fins. My female bettas had it every now and then, but not nearly as much as my males. It starts off looking like torn fins, just slightly frayed, then as it frays more, it starts to look a bit black at the ends

Looks like it could be biting. My betta was biting pretty bad. Super annoying and hopefully he's gonna be done soon.

Did this the second I got home today. Kitty stared at me and husky sat on my leg. I pet the dog and played with my fish for about 45 minutes before I cooked dinner today lol.
