if you’re white and you act like race issues are just “unnecessary drama” or “discourse” then sorry to tell you but you’re just…. racist
yes white people CAN and probably SHOULD reblog this just dont add on anything.
Detroit teachers stage “sickout” over horrible conditions, force schools to close
Eighty-eight of Detroit’s 97 public schools were closed Wednesday when teachers participated in a districtwide “sickout” to push for demands related to school conditions and their rights as employees. The protests align with a very high profile visitor in Detroit.
PLEASE continue to share images like this. White people refuse to acknowledge the reality of others until it’s shoved in their faces.
What’s crazy is it’s been like this since I was a child and prolly even before that.. My mother is a DPS school teacher and ain’t much changed, if anything things have gotten worse. She’s been buying school supplies for her students for as long as I can remember.
this is why i think it’s really funny when people condemn “third world countries” and act like amerikkka is the greatest country in the world. because this country lets shit like this happen all over the place and lets people starve to death
We need to invest in our own institutions. We can raise the funds to create our own spaces. This is just ridiculous, insanity even.
Hi Tumblr
Just wanted to say that the president of Poland Andrzej Duda just signed smthg called “Karta Rodziny”, which basically states that the only true family and marriage is that of heterosexual people, further doubling down on refusing marriage equality and adoption. It will “save children from alien and harmful LGBT ideology” by baning public institutions of mentioning the “LGBT ideology”.
The things happening over in america are horrendous, but also making way for changes for the better. They’re making the whole world have a discussion about racism still woven into our societies.
But please. It’s pride month. My country, my people need this to be on the lips of the world.
Spread the news
the current government of Poland is very fond of the expression “LGBT ideology”, which sets up queer people as a bogeyman to scare up support for far-right parties. Duda is up for reelection this year and he’s clearly following the playbook to the letter. the insidious thing about Karta Rodziny is that it contains some positive ideas, like state protections for single parents and higher penalties for domestic violence… as well as “a ban on promoting LGBT ideology by public institutions”[1]. so if you protest Karta Rodziny, the gov’t and state-controlled media will absolutely claim you ~just want single parents to die~ and ~love domestic abusers~.
[1]: no queer-inclusive sex education at schools, for one. there’s been a push for better sex ed and a counter-push by far-right, anti-choice groups for NO sex ed.
it was signed June 10, 2020. this isn’t news from the 1990s.

Hi loves,
I want to take a minute today to put some resources out for the blm movement. I may not directly experience the injustice going on right now but I have a platform and I can't stand not to use it to do what I can for the people I care about both in my life and on this site. I hear you, I stand with you, you matter. ✊🏿✊🏾✊🏽✊🏼✊🏻
Here is a website with petitions, donation funds, and recourses for protesters:
Ways To Help
I'll also give the links to two YouTube videos who's proceeds are going to racial justice funds, so you can donate even if you don't personally have the money to spare.
My Instagram, @melthewriterchick, also has a highlight story with many posts giving more recourses, information, and ways to educate yourself on the matter at hand.
Stay safe guys.
I love you all and I hope you have a great day, night, or sleep.

Today Breonna Taylor would have been 27 years old. Her life mattered. Breonna was an award-winning EMT and first responder in Lousiville, KY, who loved helping her patients and her community.
We post these action items on her birthday:
Use #SayHerName & #BirthdayForBreonna across social media.
Donate to the Louisville Community Bail Fund.
Make a call or email to demand justice for Breonna.
Credit to Ariel Sinha and Imosemen Omiunu for the art and graphics. More action items, including a script for emailing.
FILIPINOS URGENTLY NEED YOUR HELP: A CALL TO ACTION

hi, all.. i know that a lot of our focus is on the BlackLivesMatter movement atm (which is wonderful and should’ve happened a long time ago), and i hate to distract you from that, but there’s something horrible happening in my country, the Philippines (yes, the one being lead by the so-called Filipino version of Donald Trump), right now.
our national government has passed a bill that’ll essentially take away our constitutional rights to freedom of speech and fair trial. it’s called the Anti-Terrorism Bill, but we’ve dubbed it Terror Bill. here’s a summary of what it entails:
if you want to read the actual bill in its entirety, here’s a link to the official Senate of the Philippines website, where you can download a pdf copy. i’d like you to keep in mind the political climate in our country, though, and just how rampant corruption and police brutality are here.
it has already been passed by the Senate; all it needs is the House of Representatives’ approval, and it will be enforced. if you want to help stop this from happening, here are a few ways:
sign and share this petition. we’re so close to 300,000 signatures!!!
send e-mails to the Office of the President and the Senate. there’s an e-mail protest currently going on. i have qualms about copy-pasting the message, but ultimately, this method is a lot more effective than petitions:
these posters were made and posted by @tentenyukki on twitter.
educate yourself about the bill and how it will affect us when it’s approved. here are some news articles, editorials, and thought pieces to get you started:
🗞 gov’t endorsing/defending the bill: 1, 2, 3, 4
🗞 reactions to the bill’s passing: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
spread the word. on social media, our tags are #JunkTerrorBill and #JunkTerrorBillNow, but don’t stop there; tell your friends and family. please. people need to know this is happening.
your help could save the lives of millions of Filipinos, and we’d really, really appreciate it. i don’t usually ask for much, but when it comes to urgent issues like this, i can’t stay silent. unlike with BLM, i can speak my truth about this because i know personally what it’s like to be a Filipino citizen and to live in the Philippines. i hope it’s heard, and we keep an ounce of what little dignity we have as a “sovereign” country and rights as a “sovereign” people.
some of you might unfollow or get mad because this isn’t strictly studyblr content, but it’s not about aesthetic right now. i need your help. we need to hurry.
thank you for taking time to read! let’s uphold human rights together. #JunkTerrorBillNow!

YOURE STEALING
For the bootlickers in the notes
Min. wage employees cannot be penalized for stolen goods, this is true in the U.S. as well as every westernized nation
If you are penalized for this, your boss is breaking federal worker protections and there are plenty of unions to go to w/ connections to law offices that take on cases like this pro-bono
You were not hired for loss prevention, that is not your responsibility. If your boss expects you to detain thieves and/or chase people down, they should pay accordingly, and it shouldve been in your fucking job description
If you were hired for loss prevention, you’re usually a cop, so fuck you.
Everybody in the notes saying “Im a min. wage employee you’re stealing from me, and personally hurting me” Congratulations. You are a single step away from being in the person stealing’s shoes, if you’re not already in them, because odds are, that person *HAS* a job and is also on min. wage as well and is just going thru something rough. Your *job* is hurting you, by illegally holding you accountable for loss prevention that you weren’t even taken on as a responsibility. You are a customer service worker, not a cop. There’s no need to act like it, other fuckign poor people are not your goddamned enemies, please remember that.
That being said, everybody, REFRAIN FROM STEALING FROM MOM AND POP CORNER STORES, small businesses need the money. It’s Walmart that you’re supposed to steal from, any place that uses prison labor AND sweatshop labor is already a fucking thief and stealing from a multi-billion dollar corporate entity is completely justified. Have a nice day shoplifters.
fuck loss prevention
fake wannabe cops
and any employee who thinks it affects them? guess what, youre eating up what corporate says is the reason they wont pay you a living wage. it has nothing to do with shoplifters and everything to do with the fact that the corporation wants to work you to your death

So - I just learned. When you call your creditors, mortgage lenders, utilities, etc. asking for help due to loss of income, if you say you’ve lost work, income, jobs, show cancellations, whatever, they cant’ help you.
Once you say “I have no income due to the Coronavirus”, that’s the keyword they need to hear to be able to enact their new policies, defer payments, halt late fees, etc.
And, apparently, they can’t coach you to say it. You have to do it yourself.
Just FYI for everyone I know who, I suspect, needs this info. Companies have policies in place already - if you need them, use them!
Here’s another business insider article on what payments you might be able to pause/cancel and the programs some providers have set up: https://www.businessinsider.com/personal-finance/pause-bill-payments-if-you-lost-work-due-to-coronavirus
