(glinda takes a fatal blow for Elphie) "No. Glinda, why? Why did you do that, you stupid girl?" Elpbaba choked back tears as she held her best friend in her arms. "It was supposed to be me. You weren't supposed to be here. Why did you do that?!"
Glinda glanced down at the red liquid that was seeping through her dress, making the sparkles reflect the light even more somehow. She shifted her gaze up to the green woman and smiled sadly.
"I couldn’t bear to watch you die, Elphie…you may not realise it but your life has much more value than mine."
The blonde choked out, weakly as she tried to ignore the searing pain in her stomach. She knew there was no chance of her getting medical attention in time and she was strangely calm about it. Her life had never been that important to begin with, Elphaba had the real purpose. Glinda was nothing but a doll for the Ozians to admire and look up to.
"It’s okay…"
Glinda whispered, blinking slowly. If she was going to die, she’d rather it be with Elphaba holding her that any other way. The woman had been there for her through a lot and she was eternally grateful.
"Don’t worry about me. Just promise me that you’ll never stop fighting for what you believe in. You’re strong, you have potential to change a lot in Oz…don’t waste it by grieving over me."
"Shut up. Okay, just…just shut up. Grieving you isn’t a waste. You’re my best friend. My only friend. Do you understand me?" Tears were slipping freely down her cheeks as she held the blonde girl close.
By this point, Glinda was having to fight hard to stay concious. She was losing a lot of blood. Grasping tightly onto Elphaba she sniffed.
"You’ll be fine without me. I promise.."
Glinda was tired. She wanted to sleep, only she knew if she succumbed to the exhaustion, she’d never wake up.
There wasn't enough time; no time to get her to a hospital, to find help. "I love you," she whispered, pressing a kiss to the top of her head. "And I promise I will never forget you." She knew that she would probably be blamed for the death of Glinda the Good. And for the most part she didn't care. Ozians were fools and they never bothered to learn the truth, always so easily persuaded by the lies and propaganda. But none of that mattered anymore to Elphaba. All that mattered was that she was loosing her best friend.

"No," she shook her head. "I’m glad you didn’t. You were….innocent." She watched him. "I just…" she shook her head. "I don’t want to talk about it. Maybe not until after I’ve had a few drinks."
"I was dumb," he countered, feeling around for his cigarettes, finding himself coming up empty. "-I thought the world was one big playground for me to jump around on. The world’s a shit-hole, and unless you watch your own back you’re fucked," there was a knock on the door, and Shell strode to open the door, pay for the food, and set it on his coffee table, pouring her another drink, and a double for himself.
Elphaba felt her heart break, hearing her little brother talking like that. She was supposed to be the jaded and bitter one. Not him. Not Shell. "It was supposed to be a playground when you were that age," she commented, picking up her glass and taking a swallow. "I shouldn't have left you. I wanted to pretend that Frex would stop hurting you...I was stupid." She took another drink.
Couldn't Be Happier
Did she? It was a good question. She wasn't sure if she wanted to leave Chuffery. It made her a horrible person. It really did. Whether or not Elphaba loved Fiyero was regardless, he was gone and only the two of them remained. Was it up to Elphaba to ask if she wanted to? Probably not. But she answered her regardless. "It's not very good of me for wanting to. I'm not exactly who worthy of everything they're giving me." No she was hardly worthy.
"Glinda..." she sighed. "You are worthy of happiness. And you are worthy of so much more, in spite of what you may think. There is nothing wrong with leaving a bad situation to make things better for yourself....and your child. It's why I left...why I let everyone think I was dead. It was the only way Liir and I would be safe."
"Not drunk enough for this."
"Oh Elphie! Lighten up, you’re so moody all the time. Have a little fun!"
"Well go and get some! It’s a party, there’s plenty of it."
"Happy now?" She quipped, coming back with a glass in hand. "I still don’t know why you dragged me here."
"You need to leave our room more. You’re extremely antisocial and it isn’t healthy."
She stated simply, taking a sip of her own drink, some blue concoction that only someone of her age would even think of ingesting.
"Caring about my grades isn't unhealthy," Elphaba said as she sipped at her drink. "You could do with more studying and less partying."
"Listen.. listen t'me... I'm so proud of you..."

Melena sighed softly giving a small smile. “R, really?”
"Yes, Melena," Elphaba said quietly from where she sat against the wall. She was so tired. "I wish…I wish I could have kept you…raised you…but you grew up so well anyway…" She smiled gently at her. "I’m very proud of you."
The relief and happiness that Elphaba’s words brought to Melena was evident by the smile on her face.
"I am, I don’t know what to say."
She smiled and gently touched the girl’s cheek. “You’re going to be alright. Just…just keep being the young woman Glinda raised you to be, and you’ll be fine.”
"But I want you to stay, I want to keep making you proud."
"I wish that I could…but it’s time for me to go. I promise…you’ll be just fine…"
"No, no I need you."
"No..." she whispered, gently cupping her cheek. "You're a strong woman. Glinda made sure of that. And you're going to do just fine. I know it." Keeping her eyes open, even breathing...they were getting more and more difficult for Elphaba, and she knew there wasn't much time left. "You should go...my sweet Melena."
"I’m just glad to know that you’re both okay." She smiled.
Elphaba returned the smile for a moment. “I should go…before someone finds me here. Could you…would you tell Glinda that I’m so grateful to her for taking you in and raising you?”
"…Glinda is, she isn’t here anymore. But I’m sure she knew."
"O…oh…I didn’t know…" She looked down sadly. "She was my best friend, you know. That’s why your father and I trusted her to look after you."
Melena nodded softly. “She gave me your letter.”
"Good. Good." She looked at the young woman for a moment, then, very hesitantly, stepped forward and pulled her into a gentle hug. "I'm sorry things happened like this. If I could do it differently, I would have taken you with us."

Elphaba smiled, turning Fiyero onto his back so she could kiss his lips. “I’m sure he’ll grow out of it. For now, all we can do is keep trying. Come on.” She pushed the covers off of herself and moved to set her bare feet down on the cool wood of the floor. After taking a moment to stretch her arms, she stood, and then went to the door, scooping the toddler up and kissing his cheek.
"Can you at least try the eggs Mama makes today?" She asked the boy, carrying him through the small house to the kitchen. Liir was more than capable of walking on his own, but he had an affinity for being carried, and Elphie tended to spoil him, even going so far to indulge his aversion to any food that wasn’t buttered toast. She sat him down on the counter with a cup of water to drink while she started cooking.
He lingered in the languid, easy pleasure of the good morning kiss even as Elphaba collected the child and brought him into the kitchen, slowly coming back to himself and all that came with that. His eyes swept fondly over the cracks in the ceiling and the sunlights spilling through the window and hiding in their nooks and crannies.
When he felt satisfied with his mindless dawdling, Fiyero gave a long, rounded yawn and slipped out of bed. Only once he’d found his way to the kitchen did the morning chill begin to bother him, but not so much so inspire in him any willingness to get dressed. The old leggings he wore would suffice for now.
"Now, what is this little creature up to, waking Mama and Papa up so early?" he cried, seizing Liir up from the counter top and whirling him about. A bit of water may have been spilt but it was in worth the smile that lit up the toddler’s face. Fiyero placed a quick kiss on Liir’s little forehead and set him down again.
He then turned to Elphaba and offered, “Need any help?”
"Hungry, Papa!" Liir giggled as his father spun him about, his small hands gripping the cup tightly so as not to drop it. When Fiyero put him back down, he grinned, kicking his legs before drinking some more water.
Elphaba looked over her shoulder at him. "No, but if you could keep the little one entertained while I finish up breakfast, that would be plenty of help." She moved around the kitchen, cooking having been a skill she acquired at a young, learning from Nanny to help take care of her brother and sister.
I'm sorry, I know I'm terrible for not being around. I promise I'll try to get some replies out today, but, in the meantime have a thing I drew:
His name is Declan and he's Elphaba and Glinda's son via magic. He's from an alternate universe with blondegilikinese where Elphie and Glinda stayed in the Emerald City together

"I still remember one..he’d been particularly nasty, what with the holy water….the next day, you gave me my Lurlinemas gift early. I know you’d been saving your pocket money for two months to get me those two peppermint sticks…" She smiled slightly. "I kept the flowers."
"Mmm… he was a fucker," he said flatly, though the corners of his mouth twitched when she mentioned keeping the flowers. He had forgotten all about them. "-I was simplier back then. I should have just stolen the sticks, gotten twice as many,"
"No," she shook her head. "I'm glad you didn't. You were....innocent." She watched him. "I just..." she shook her head. "I don't want to talk about it. Maybe not until after I've had a few drinks."

She had been watching him from the moment he got up. “I haven’t had peppermint sticks in…years,” she said when he finally stopped talking to Smitty. “Remember when we’d hide candy from our father…he called it a frivolous purchase.”
"That’s because father was a son of a bitch," spat Shell who with long strides returned to his armchair and sank down. "-who hated anything that wasn’t Nessa or prayer, and I’m glad he lost his fucking mind because it wasn’t worth nothin’ to begin with,"

Her feet had hurt some and the heels were taken off finally. “What did you mean to do? Elphie, I know you didn’t mean it, but it hurt. You left and I thought, , I don’t know what I thought, no, I do know. I thought you were dead. I thought I’d never see my best friend again-.” It had been a lot. Oz knew she was tired. Hell, even Chuffery knew she was tired of all the games she had to play just to make the citizens of Oz think she was happy. That was the most exhausting of all, all of the lies.
Elphaba watched Glinda take her heels off and put her feet up on the bed. “I wanted to leave you a message…to somehow tell you that I was alright…but I didn’t know what to say.” She sat down, putting Glinda’s feet in her lap and massaging them gently. ”And I didn’t want to risk anyone else finding it and knowing. Besides…I thought you’d be alright. I was never that important.”
"You’re so full of it. You were the only thing that matterd. In all of this mess. It was you." Glinda couldn’t help but groan when the foot rub started, even despite being angry with her. Glinda sighed. Of course Elphaba thought that she’d be all right. There had been no indication that she wouldn’t be.But no.She had fallen into her parents trap of marriage with a child now on the way. Her eyes closed while she tried to figure out what to do."I keep wanting to tell myself this is your fault." there was a pause. "But o know it’s not."
"But it is my fault," she said quietly, shifting her attention to Glinda's other foot. "I left without warning. I let you think I was dead. I'm a terrible friend for that." Elphaba's hands stilled and she looked up at the blonde. "Do you want to leave him?" She was returning the conversation to her friend's obvious unhappiness. Elphaba wasn't the heartless witch that all of Oz believed her to be. She understood love--she had loved Fiyero, she loved her son...and she loved Glinda, too. And if Glinda was unhappy...if her husband was hurting her, and Elphaba did nothing to help...she knew she wouldn't be able to forgive herself for that.
