🦢 LAINEY CARTWRIGHT.  —  i'm so sick of running as fast as i can. active.  ✧  business woman, chatter box, chronic worrier & perfectionist. from the suburbs outside of chicago, illinois she is impulsive but definitely more level headed and a city girl trying to prove herself as a business woman. full of quirks and whimsy, sassy, sweet, stubborn. reliable but a tiny emotionally distant (aka gets the scaries when she gets too close to people) probably the product of a growing up in cookie cutter home with strict parents - a neurotic mother and a workaholic father who barely ever was home to spend quality time with her and her siblings and her mother and father’s relationship was more like a partnership than a loving relationship - who both expected a LOT out of her out of her the most out of her two other siblings. her favorite hobby always was figure skating, she had dreamed of turning that into a career but the pressure of being perfect for her overbearing parents who had OTHER plans for her turned her into a business lady despite wishing she hadn't let them force her into it, forever longing for her dream. sometimes she just needs a reminder to breathe and remember she's a person. and maybe with the right person... she could grab back hold of her dream.  ✧  original character.  ✧  fc: m.argot r.obbie.

                  he, of course, was far from dreaming. the scent of her perfume wafted through the air behind her, unmistakably real. marcus holds each heel in one hand, confusion carved between his brows. for several long seconds, he stays there, his mind struggling to catch up, still heavy from the brink of sleep. “elena,” he calls after her, finally finding his voice. he sets her shoes to the ground, quickly trailing behind her to make up for his stupor. “what the hell is going on?” this encounter felt entirely different to their others, with a quiet undercurrent of urgency. he crossed the threshold into his bathroom to find elena cradling her wrist. “what happened?”

leaving a trail of sweet coconut noted perfume and flaky energy behind, she added to it with a lie, "nothing, nothing is going on." that doesn't sound very convincing to be someone into acting. "i just wanted to come over at one in the morning, is that so weird?" eyes wandered over the only slightly familiar bathroom, annoyed she didn't know where a bandage would be. a frustrated blush colored her face once his tall frame met her in the threshold, "this bathroom is so boring... where are the scooby doo bandaids? i just accidentally gave myself a cut on the way over here, that's all. running in heels didn't exactly help." keeps her hand covered so he can't see she's lying and it's a lot bigger than a little road burn.

lips moving to say something in an argument before he's cut off with a mmph and calloused hands are moving to grab her smaller figure moving over to him unexpectedly. hands grabbing her face, trying to get her to stay in place while he looks perplexed. unsure of what even happened, is the taste of her lips really left against his as his tongue poked out to test it or was he daydreaming that happened? "i guess i forgot how to. no thanks to you," a playful scoff sounded from, acting like he didn't just relish in the half second of that. but then his expressions dropped again once she left him and went back to the passenger seat. "you ruined it though, you're supposed to sit on my lap while i drive. that was gonna be the FUN of it, jesus evie. i don't get it. i just wanted to hold you WHILE i do, not stick my dick in you." he blurts his intentions in irritation, this time arms are thrown up in defeat and hastily he throws the car in drive. over it now and just driving. even if the scowl says otherwise, he's frustrated.

"figuring out what you're looking for?" jackie appears from the other side of the selection of records as doc martens shuffle over, it was her job as her family's new record store owner to not run off the customers by scaring them but she couldn't help it. she was interested in what he was up to. and maybe... she was bored. he looked like a good victim. "or are you struggling over here? just checking if you got taste." long dark haired girl teased, gauging a reaction on purpose. clad in a black off the shoulder tank with a shiny rhinestone star, a belt that matched, looped around her black ripped jean shorts and her big shiny silver hoops while eyes fell over his form, quietly checking out what he was wearing because she was big on two things... music and style. of course she has to dissect her victim's wardrobe too.

Never before had suave and charming Ryan Harker felt this insecure about talking to a girl. Not because he lost his charm, but because this meant something to him. He still did not know her name, and yet he had seen her in every scenario he dreamed up about his future. Whether he would get discovered by scouts or not, she was there by his side and as childish as that kind of crush would sound for anyone else or maybe even borderline insane, this was the most sense anything made to him in a very long time.

"Nononono...", he reached out his hand and took hers in his, entangling his fingers with hers, fearing the moment she would disappear from his life again and maybe not return this time around.

"Please stay, spitfire", Ryan forced his wide frame past Mike, who watched the scenery unfold in front of him with a knowing smirk plastered on his face. To see Ryan, the guy who always acted like he wasn't capable of being in a relationship, be so obviously whipped for someone was a treat. He knew the other guys would tease him relentlessly for the display of open affection and downright love in his eyes for a girl whose name he didn't even know.

"I'll leave you to it. Was a pleasure to meet you", he stopped for a second, not sure how to call her, and it seemed like spitfire was too intimate a name for him to use.

Ryan turned to the goalie, knowing that he was really just trying to be nice, but if looks could kill, the goalie would drop dead.

"Thanks, man", he got out between gritted teeth before focusing back on her, and finally seeing the games she brought.

"I see you have evening entertainment in mind already. We can take this to the backyard for more space, or if you want to come upstairs for a bit more privacy...", he didn't want her to feel fenced in or backed into a corner. Like he was expecting something of her, she might not be willing to give

"oh really? okaaay," letting him take her by the hand, manicured nails wrapping around his, surprised by how quick he was to slide in front of his friend and suddenly his bare chest is in her face. eye level with it from down here and wanting to blush like a fool. doe eyes quickly flicker up on his eyes then wander over his hair, his annoyingly very pretty hair. the next surprise came observing how the blond reacted to his friend, yes it stirred amusement in her but also confused by the reaction he was giving him. was it jealousy? embarrassment? what exactly was it... she thought before deicidng either way, she was relishing in it. "nice meeting you!" jackie beams over the blonds shoulder, bubbly as usual, perking up on her tiptoes once before going back still and gaze redirects on the stranger.

"i did. are you a twisters guy or a monopoly guy? something tells me you're a twisters guy..." the brunette taunts which reminds her in between her deciding of where to go between his options. "actually, yeah. let's go upstairs." planning to investigate, jealousy burning through her and she had no idea why she thought she had the right to feel such an emotion when they didn't even know each other. and still... she was already annoyed at the idea of another female hanging around him let alone in his bed. "well go on, show me." shoving the games under her arm that's holding his hand with her left so her right hand can free up to gently shove his chest.

"and please, that's all just a myth or whatever." lola banters, snorting to herself, giving a dismissive wave of her hand as if that's just some crazy talk. well, at least she's actually smart because there's truth in it. but okay, she was only trying to steal to get a way back home AND she'd only been arrested once. a girl had to survive! "and how tall are you? you could be crazy too, but i won't complain. crazy keeps life interesting." shoulders lifted in her blue babydoll dress then fell.

a huff sounds from jesse, letting her go this time before purposely giving her a big sad puppy dog look. "and why not? it's really simple, evie. you just sit and really, i'm the only one actually doing all the driving then ta da. we're at your place and you can sleep." snorting when she tells him she wants him as her personal pillow, he won't disagree. but still. why was she bucking him on this so hard? his brain almost glitched and went to mush once their eyes locked too long. god, she was hypnotic and he failing at letting those big brown eyes get to him. "what will be new there?" he questions, mischief pulling at the corners of his lips into a devious smile, "i'm always hard."

rue's car slows when she sees the girl at the side of the road. it's hard to miss her, despite how TINY she seemed, a speck of blonde against the equally yellowing edges of the desert. but maybe it's a good thing she's slowed, as the other approaches like she hadn't seen anyone passing in hours.

and shit. rue knows what it's like to be STRANDED in a place like this, and how others around her were like, the lifeblood that she needed to not fucking fall apart. shit. should she be doing this? "yeah, get in. you doing okay? i like um... i got some water, but it might be kinda hot..."

oh. it takes her a moment but she realized that the other girl was like. really pretty. her face going a little flush, blinking quickly to keep herself, like, together so that she didn't look like a TOTAL IDIOT. "where are you heading to, let me see if it's, like, on the way or whatever."

"alright! thanks, darlin'. i do appreciate it." beaming through southern drawl because trying to survive out here in the desert has not been her most fun challenge. if anything, it's had her on the verge of panicking and she's typically really good at holding herself together. she'd much rather rob a man, though. there was fun in robbing a male because they deserved it in her whole personal agenda, that was her only complaint. but maybe she can figure a better way out to get money out of her little new companion. hand reaches for the handle and the tiny blond climbs in, slamming it back shut before blues trail over on the other. placing her jean heart shaped purse next to them. "what's got ya so blushy? this hot weather or what?" lola-blue played oblivious, pearly white grin flashing on sparkly lips. "no where in particular, just wantin' a ride to clear my head. where are you heading? and yeah, some water would be nice. warm or not, i ain't choosy."

                   sleep had almost pulled marcus under. that feeling of falling through himself, weightless but heavy.  almost.  he hears the quick raps against his door as if they were underwater at first, until his eyes are snap open, and they ring out crystal clear. looking at the clock at his bedside, he already knows exactly who it is. the only person who could make him tumble out of bed with an eagerness he worked hard to conceal. he scrubbed a hand through his hair before pulling the door open. any attempt to not stare at elena dissolved. this version of her was a stark contrast from what he’s used to. clad in a black dress that hugged her perfectly, hair artfully undone, heels in hand. “hi.  …  you look ni—” he starts, sleep thick in his voice as elena slipped past him, crossing his threshold.

"hiii, don't mind me. i'm not even here. this is just a dream, you're dreaming." elena shyly shuffles in, bambi eyes flicker up on him briefly with a sheepish smile, pretending to hug herself like it's cold outside to keep her hand hidden. "you look niii-- too." she quipped, making playful fun, finding that sleep in his voice cute before feeling guilt she's woken him up. again. the petite brunette hands him her heels then scurries away to his bathroom because her hand is throbbing and immediately needs fixed or at least somewhere she can stop forcing the smile and let out that wince she's holding back. hoping he's sleepy enough she can keep it hidden from him. "i'll just be here a sec and then i'll leave you alone." she loudly promises on her way to finding his bathroom.
