Okay, so, confession time:

One of the things I do when I’m feeling sad and disconnected and just sort of greyish is to go on Tripadvisor or Google or one of those other review sites and read 5-star reviews of things I like.  It could be a restaurant, a tourist attraction, a cool business - whatever it is, I just go and read and enjoy other humans enjoying the same things that I enjoyed, and watch other people being happy. 

Turns out, this works with fic, too.  So yes, not only do I reread my comments when I’m having a bad day, sometimes I go to fics by other authors that I have loved and watch other people experience them for the first time, and appreciate how as humans we are drawn to sharing joy back and forth: the joy of creation and the joy of appreciation.  It’s lovely.
