Whatever Odette had been expecting, him admitting to having fantasies about her, had never been on her mind. He- had? She’d be lying if she said she’d never had such thoughts about him, but never would’ve acted on them… well, at least… when he’d been engaged to her then best friend. But now? She certainly owed Sylvia no loyalties, but couldn’t help feeling guilty all the same. She’d been staring at him in shock for far too long now, her face flushed, and trying to recover her composure. But then he was on his feet and stripping off his clothes… her eyes raked over him… slowly and lingered on a certain part longer than necessary. Okay, so, she may or may not have always wondered if those rumors were true… and it would seem they were… Focus, Odette, but fuck he was making that hard, too. His last words snapped her out of it and she looked back up at his face. He was egging her on… she should say no… but that was not what came out of her mouth. “Not here,” she said as she got to her feet. He might be able to stand there in some superhero pose for the world to see… and while she was comfortable naked… well… “Come on,” she added, grabbing her discarded shirt and bra, heading for the door. Where the fuck she was leading them, well, she didn’t know, but would figure it out as she went.
The truth of how she affected him (and always had) was literally out in the open, and in that moment it was dangling low between his legs, the desire Ethan had kept afire for Odette unmistakable. But where it really showed were in the windows onto his soul, his eyes that stared at her with an exquisite, true sense of longing. He half expected her to knee him in his exposed groin, slap his face and storm off. But as usual, the spitfire surprised him. “Somewhere else, then? Fuck, I’ll follow you anywhere tonight,” he swore, meaning every word and stalking after her, not bothering to collect his clothes or adopt the smallest semblance of modesty. What good was that now? As they stepped out into the warm, summer night he confided, giving Odette a chance to retreat if the words he spoke from behind happened to offend her. “I want you, Odette. I always have. Even when I was with Sylvia. I cared then if it was wrong ... but not now.”
