the dull ache in your chest at 2 pm, when youre hanging out with your friends and you see something that reminds you of them. The dried up tears on your pillow, spending endless nights wondering if they’ll ever come back. Your heart was their home, and now people can’t tell the difference between it and an abandoned house. It’s the crack in your voice when you say their name. The regret of letting them go sitting on your chest. The regret of letting them let you go tearing you apart. Thinking of who holds their hand now. Fuck that, thinking of who holds their heart now. The ache in your heart when you think of them with someone else. You want them to be happy, but you want them to be happy with you. Knowing that no amount of words will bring them back. Crying to your best friend at 4.am. Getting drunk and slurring their name into someone else’s mouth. Missing them at 1.am. Thinking about if you’d both held on a bit longer. Just a bit longer. You would have made it. Missing them at 5.pm. Trying to fill the void they left in your chest with temporary intimacy with strangers you’ll never see again. Drowning the thought of them, along with yourself.
