I guess I just wish it felt like there still existed some scrap of solidarity with those of us who HAVE to maintain firm covid safety protocols. There are people acting like wearing masks is "paranoia" and social distancing is unnecessary and people who still have to isolate are somehow "brainwashed." It's not just the reactionary covid-denial crowd, either--I have friends who were making memes a year ago about how they were never taking their mask off...who are now walking around big events with no mask on.

If I get pissed off about the way people are going "back to normal," it's because I've been dealing with the ongoing trauma of my family being told by society that WE DON'T MATTER. That whatever fun things people want to do is more important than our LIVES. I'm tired of being gaslit and told I'm being "too paranoid" and told that it's no longer reasonable for me to expect virtual events and distance accommodation.

The solidarity disappeared the second people started getting their first vaccines, and it's been fucking devastating to my sense of comfort, safety, and community support. I feel like I can't trust anyone not to throw me and my family under the bus for the sake of "normalcy."
