Weāve got Bendy willingly leaving a man to die, Mickey burning a cigar on Felixās neck and the Cupbros being literal assassins while all of these people remaining well loved characters
but god forbid Shelly is annoying and invades someoneās space, no no no no, sheās a GROWN WOMAN, how could SHE do something like this?? How dare SHE??? The FEMALE????? SHE DESERVES TO DIE. /j /nsrs
Thank you. Iām so tired of people literally not even want to INTERACT with any content of her just because of this. Do whatever you want but people are such hypocrites if you are adoring Bendy or Cuphead while hating Shellyās guts for a one scene of her not respecting boundaries
Btw Bendy and Cuphead has murdered people on accident/purpose/knowingly, remember? No? Okay
People just donāt like women characters and it shows really bad
DO NOT INTERACT WITH ME IF YOU HATE SHELLY OR ANY MOTM FEMALE CHARACTER.
Weāve already seen this whole issue play out with Pomni and Jessica because they held positions of power as womenāespecially Pomni, since sheās a more recent cartoon character. The same thing is happening to Shelly now. Not only is she a Toon from a new game, but specifically a Roblox game (setting aside all the controversies surrounding it). Dandy's World has always been heavily hated. Naturally, a female character from a hated game, with a strong personality and certain attitude issues, like sedating Bendy, gets hit with the "burn her at the stake" treatment.
It would be perfectly understandable if you simply didn't like the characterāwhether because you dislike her specific role in Dandy's World (which is a bit odd, to be honest) or because of her actions in MOTM IF you also dislike the other morally grey characters. But if thatās not the case? My friend, let me tell you: you are being chauvinistic and sexist.
Once again: if you hate Shelly, do not interact with me. Block me, or Iāll block youāI don't careābut I will not tolerate that kind of attitude.
A little something inspired by this of @low-artist.
This isn't great, but ah well. I've never tried writing something about the swapped-au so āā (ā āā ļ½ā `ā ;ā )ā ā
I feel like this cuts off weird but if I don't stop it now it will become another mini fic and I have too many of those I'm STILL working on.
Blueink, Bendy in drag. Implied at least one-sided pupcup
Bendy, or Bella as he was currently going as, played with the feathers of his boa nervously. It wasn't that he was in a dress, a stunning number in gold with beadwork anyone would be jealous of, but the fact of why he was in the dress. Due to... unfortunate circumstances he had to go and perform a violin act. Normally he would be caught dead before going out on stage, but the situation was as such:
Bendy was the only one here who could play an instrument at any level even touching professional. Which lead to him having to go on stage with near crippling stage fright and with no way to back out. It also did not help in any sense that this would be the first time most of his new... Group would be seeing him in his drag outfit. He hated to admit he was nervous about Mugman's reaction the most. Sure they had their weird flirting going on, and sometimes the mug got more handsy than a situation called for, but he didn't know what to expect. Would he heckle him? Would this weird him out too much? Would he start acting differently? Not- not that he didn't want that! He didn't like how Mugman invaded his space or wrapped an arm around his waist when he stumbled or how he would notice when Bendy was in pain and loudly announced they needed a break and made it seem like he was doing it for himself. Not at all, but he didn't want the other to avoid him either. It would make everything harder to deal with, so that was why he was standing on the other side of a closed door.
"Come on Bendy," Boris called, "You and I both know you're done. " Bendy winced a little bit. That was the problem with having a little brother. Sometimes they know you and your routine too well.
"Just a moment!" Taking a deep breath and reminding himself this was not a stage he walked out. Boris was waiting with Tisha. Bendy couldn't help the small laugh or the fond smile as he watched Boris' tail begin to wag.
"Oh Bendy!" Tisha cooed, "You look so pretty!"
"Thank you, and it's Bella when I'm in a dress, Bella Virelai." Tisha smiled happily.
"Alright Miss Virelai, right this way." Bella followed the two at a slower pace with Boris supporting her. She couldn't use her regular cane, it was too... Common for Miss Virelai to use, but she also just didn't have one that she could. Dandy had asked one of his staff to find one that would match her dress. Until then Boris was sticking closer than usual.
"It's going to be okay. I'm going to be there. Cuphead, Mugman and Shelly will be there too. Just... Look for me and play! Like when we were kids!" Bella could only give a strained smile. She knew Boris was trying to help, but....
"Here we are," Tisha threw the doors open wide, "Lady and gentlemen! Please greet Miss Bella Virelai!" Bella hesitantly stepped in. Cuphead just gave her a disinterested lookover. It didn't pass Bella's notice that his gaze did linger on Boris before he just huffed and adjusted his stance. She didn't know how to feel about that factor. It didn't seem malicious, but she also didn't know much about the shirt tempered cup. Shelly opened her mouth to speak but whatever Shelly was going to say got interrupted by the highest pitched kettle noise she had ever heard. Boris' arm tightened around her as she flinched from the noise. Quickly she looked over to see Mugman and he was absolutely steaming. A thick steam rose from his head as he started to boil over. His lips were slightly parted, where Bella assumed the whistle was coming from, but he paid no mind to any of that.
"Uh, Mugman?" Shelly asked from beside him. She glanced at the others when he didn't respond. Mugman's bright blue eyes were locked solely on Bella with such want, it left her a little breathless. It definitely left her blushing.
"Applesauce, you're embarrassing." Cuphead muttered with a grossed out look at his brother, "Snap outta it."
Mugman didn't even seem to hear his brother. When Bella bit her lip nervously, his gaze locked on to the movement. Carefully Bella walked closer to the stunned mug.
"Mugman?" She asked hesitantly, "Are you okay?"
"P-pretty girl." He mumbled out, the whistle sound underlying the words.
"What?" Bella asked in shock. She glanced to see the others hadn't seemed to hear that, which was a relief. It would have been very embarrassing if they had.
"Pretty good-fine. Just... Fine..." He sounded dazed as if he had been hit upside his head and little hearts were in his eyes as he just.... Stared. She almost didn't notice how he moved his hands towards her waist but stopped before actually touching her. Like he wanted to but didn't know if he was allowed to. It was kinda weird. He had never hesitated to touch Bendy, but he was hesitating with Bella. She wasn't sure how to feel about that.
"Mugs?" Bella tried one more time. Almost reverently Mugman spoke,
"Please step on me."
"MUGMAN!" Screeched Cuphead with all the scandalized tones of a mother. Bella darkened, words failing her as Cuphead grabbed his brother by the handle and physically pulled him from the room, the entire time cussing him out. Well... She supposed that answered that concern. Very pointedly she did not think about that interaction and she would not until she was alone.
"...I'm going to kill him." Boris' gruff voice broke her from her stupor.
"Please don't fight him." She requested. She had no idea what that would do considering her brother and Mugman had a deal of all things. Plus, as much as she loves her brother, he wasn't a fighter. Not a good one at least, but that was how Boris was.
"If he acts like that again I will." Boris huffed, indignant on her behalf.
"Boris, that was practically tame for him." She waved it off, starting to straighten out her outfit out of nervousness.
"WHAT?"
"Wait, Bella, are you two-?" Shelly hedged. It took Bella a moment to understand the unfinished question. She burned in embarrassment over the question. No way! She would never date him, even though he was easy on the eyes.
"Wha- No! I- I didn't mean it like that! Mugman is just a touchy guy! And he flirts with everyone! It's just how he is!"
"Okay, yeah, he is pretty tactile for how much he avoids anyone touching him, but he does not flirt with everyone." Tisha joined in. Bella had almost forgotten she was there too.
"He was literally flirting with Dandy yesterday."
"He was flirting with Dandy to make Astro mad because he was mad at him." Shelly stated.
"Why... Why was Mugman mad at Astro?" Shelly and Tisha both shrugged.
"Who knows, honestly. Point stands, he doesn't get that way with anyone else." Tisha reiterated. Before they could continue the discussion Boris interpreted with a scowl.
"Mugman and Bella ain't dating. Now we have a job to do, so let's go." Bella was relieved to have the attention off of her and Mugman's non existent relationship. Still, she could help but wonder what it would be like if they did. It would probably end up horribly, but it was nice to imagine something that wouldn't. A happy fantasy. Besides even if they did like each other, even if they did want to give anything a try regardless of how terrible she knew it would burn, it didn't change the fact that she was dying and it would be too cruel to do that to him. Not that anything would happen. Like she had told them, Mugman was just like that. He didn't like her.
MUGMAN BEING SUCH A DISASTER WHEN HE SEES HER AHH
The "Please step on me" part LMAO
Now whit Bendy/Bella“s tougths AAGHHH I love whenever in swap he is more hopeless and INTERFERES whit his relationship whit others WE NEED MORE SWAP ONE SHOTS THIS IS GOLD
Out of curiousity in the swap motm, would Bendy x Dandy still exist or would Dandy or Bendy be replaced by another person in this situtionship?
Personally I see that roles between Bendy and Dandy would be reversed and Dandy could be the one who messed up the "whatever was going on between them".
Orr I see that swap Bendy who already came to terms with his illness, thought that I was better for Dandy to NOT be with someone who could die at any moment.
Bendy maybe thought that Dandy deserved someone who would life longer or that he should waist time on him.
But how would it go in your swap au?? I'm very curious!!!
Believe it or not, this is one of the first times anyone has used the ask box thanks!
Well, to be honest, Iāve thought about the whole Bendy and Dandy situation quite a bit. I won't lie: Iām waiting to see if more of their story gets told in MOTM, or if Fly or Nort answer another question about the swap, though thatāll probably take a year (just to be clear, no hate intended toward Fly or Nort). So, until something is confirmed, this is all based on theories and the few clues we have.
At this point, Iāve come up with two versions for Dandy and Bendy in the swap:
The first is a "proper" swap, where Boris and Dyle would actually take the roles of Bendy and Dandy: In this scenario, they were both genius inventors working together, sharing a friendship that constantly skirted the line between platonic and romantic, a line neither ever dared to cross because they wanted to maintain professionalism.
As you might have noticed in my swap AU, both brothers are cursed, though Bendy has been dealing with it for far longer. Seeing his brotherās condition worsen, Boris became obsessed with the myth; he started investigating it and neglected his work. Dyle didn't like this at all, not just because Boris was being neglectful, but because Dyle never believed in the myth. He believed they could cure the curse with their inventions and make life less painful for the afflicted. He tried to reason with Boris and help him, but Boris was already desperate, which ultimately led to their fall out. In this version, Swap!Bendy; much like OG!Boris; never had a partner.
The other option, where Bendy and Dandy were a couple, goes like this: In this universe, they weren't actors or dancers, but musicians; Bendy played the violin, though Iām not quite sure which instrument to give Dandy. Their relationship was calmer than that of the originals; but unlike the OGs, who never dared to cross the line between friendship and romance, these two idiots played with that boundary as if it were a jump rope.
To explain why they split up, I have to mention a theory of mine (I don't think it will become canon at this point, but it strikes me as a dramatic scenario lol): during a performance, due to poor coordination, Bendy accidentally dropped something heavy on Dandy, leaving him badly injured (which explains why he uses a cane). Bendy, being the coward he is, fled the scene.
A very similar situation unfolds in the swap scenario, with Dandy appearing to be the one responsible for the accident. This stems largely from their recent arguments; Bendy wanted to quit music in favor of a quiet life, whereas Dandy, intent on the limelight, refused to let him leave, as they were known as a duo.
A heated argument broke out before their show, and, as fate would have it, it appeared Dandy tried to hurt Bendy, though the incident remained a private matter between them.
Dandy was offered a chance to join the big leagues without his injured partner and accepted immediately; Bendy perceived this as a betrayal, an act of abandonment. This is the root of Bendyās stage fright: he panics whenever he steps onto a stage or catches someone staring at him while he plays the violin.
I also want to explain how the "blot" works: it prevents the afflicted from dying of anything other than the curse itselfāat least when the condition is severe. In the early stages, it doesn't heal injuries completely; while regeneration is rapid, scars or lasting effects remain. Bendyās condition at the time of that show wasn't critical enough for his leg to heal as if nothing had happened, which is why he needs a cane.
Well this doesn't have Blueink (sorry guys š)but it's another re-write of a MOTM scene whit the swap au. This time when Cuphead was shot
Ofc as we don't know a lot of the swap au this could have a lot of things ooc. Maybe I will try to continue this later
BLANK!?
A furious shout rang out through the forest, startling a flock of birds into flight.
ā: THIS DAMN MAP IS BLANK!?
ā¤: Are you sure you grabbed the rightā OOOWAAAAAHH! Hey!
ā: SHUT UP!
A red laser shot out toward the blue mug, who immediately bolted and managed to dodge the blastāwhich, unfortunately, ended up hitting a poor, harmless tree instead.
ā: OF COURSE IT WAS THE RIGHT ONE! THAT DAMN WOLF WASN'T CARRYING ANYTHING ELSE!
Shouting to vent his frustration, he grabbed the piece of the log that had fallen to the ground and hoisted it over his head.
ā: IT MUST'VE BEEN THAT DAMN DEMON! AND JUST BECAUSE YOU WANTED ONE OF YOUR STUPID LITTLE GAMES, YOU RUINED IT!
He hurled the log straight at his brother, who dodged it instantlyāas if it were an everyday occurrence.
ā: You had to kill him, you had to search him, and now we're stuck on another mission we can't finish, and we're going to have to work twice as hard, andāandā
He suddenly fell silent, sitting on the ground and burying his face in his hands, trying to keep from having a nervous breakdown right then and there. His brother, weary now, crouched down beside him and took his hands.
ā¤: Okay, Cuphead, you need to calm down; we already talked about this.
ā: Easy for you to say.
ā¤: You're angry, so I won't take it personally.
ā: It is very personal.
ā¤: Look, they were just two simple, foolish civilians. Nothing compared to me.
Thanks to the silence, he could feel Cupheadās judgmental stare. He stood up dramatically, placing his hands on the sides of his head, acting innocent.
ā¤: That punch at the bar doesn't count. He cheated, he used a cane
ā: Uh-huh...
ā¤: Ha! C'mon now! Give me your hand.
Cuphead extended his hand so the one in blue could help him up.
ā¤: Now let's go; we have to take the real map from those idiotā
That didn't last long, though, as a blow landed on each brother's head, leaving them sprawled on the ground.
The two figures who had struck them stepped out from behind the trees: a small wolf wielding an axe and a tall demon holding a brand-new cane. The wolf was overjoyed just because they knocked them outāperhaps a little too overjoyed, considering one of those two cups had helped him during a seizure. Bendy took charge of grabbing both straws and hiding them; unfortunately, his poor eyesight made him think it was the perfect hiding spot, even though it was completely visible to anyone else. Boris, by the other hand, tied them both to a tree to prevent them from attacking them when they wake up.
When both cups finally woke upāor rather, when Cuphead got upāhe managed to rouse his brother, who was lying beside him, with a threatening shout directed at the pair who had tied them up.
ā: LET US GO RIGHT NOW.
ā§: I don't think you're in a position to make demands. Now... give us the map.
ā¤: What map?
ā§: The one your brother took from me.
ā¤: Mmmmmmmmm, I don't remember that. I've only got an old sheet of paper.
ā§: THAT'S THE ONE, YOU DAMN CUP-HEAD
ā¤: That's my brother's name; I'm Mugman.
ā§: OH, FOR THE LOVE OFā
ā”: Here it is...
Bendy had the map wrapped around his tail. Upon seeing it, Cuphead nearly lost his mind; he thrashed about and checked his coat, realizing it really was the map, as it was no longer in his pocket. He hadn't even noticed when it had been taken, which only made him distrust the taller one even more.
ā: WHAT THEā YOU DAMN DEMON, GIVE THAT BACK!
Bendy took a step back, trying to avoid a confrontation, but Borisās fur instantly bristled in anger.
ā§: He has a name! You know!?
ā”: Ugh...Boris, there's no need...
ā: I DON'T CAREāGIVE THAT BACK NOW!
ā§: We got it first.
ā¤: If it weren't for me, you wouldn't have gotten it.
The wolf and the mug began to argueāor rather, the mug was deliberately provoking the wolf. Bendy had to hold his brother back, as he looked ready to bite that blue cup's ball-shaped nose off at any moment.
ā”: Boris, please... can we go? We have the map now.
ā¤: Keep it; it's just a blank piece of paper anyway.
ā§: HA! This!? This is the map, and I can see it!
ā¤+ā: . . . .Huh?
ā”: Boris. . . .
ā§: I still don't understand how I'm the only one who can see it, but it's real.
Boris looked at his older brother out of habit; he noticed his own tail wrapping around his bad legāa habit heād developed after ending up in that condition.
ā§: . . . . . .You still don't believe me.
Bendy was a bit startled; he noticed his bad habit and instantly unwrapped his tail.
ā”: I-I... You have to admit, it's hard to believe.
ā§: SHEBA ALREADY EXPLAINED IT TO US.
ā”: She's an author, Boris. I'm sure she makes up half her adventures. She made the map's existence public; we stole it and then lost it. If people found out we actually held itāand that, for some strange reason, you can see itāquestions would start coming up. And if we gave an answer that contradicted her version of events, it would hurt her reputation.
ā§: Bendy, I've been looking for information on this cure for years; she's one of the people who's come closest to finding the machine.
ā”: BUT THAT DOESN'T EXPLAIN WHY YOU'RE THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN SEE IT.
As the brothers arguedāthough the situation quickly escalated from a mere dispute into a fightāCuphead listened intently. "Machine." Only one machine was important enough for the stars themselves to be after it, and that... dogāhe could see the map; that dog was leading a demon to the Ink Machine.
ā: Wait... that map leads to the Ink Machine...?
Mugman looked at his brother in bewilderment, and the two stopped arguing. Bendy was silently judging Boris for running his mouthāall because of his damn pride. Boris had already realized heād said too much, but it didn't matter, right? Those two were tied up, after all.
ā§: Ummm...
ā: And you can see the map?
The two cups exchanged a glance, silently agreeing on their next move in an instant. They both sprang up quickly, snapping the ropes that held them hostage as if they were nothing, and lunged forward, ready to attack.
Mugman made a beeline for their weaponsāwhich the half-blind guard had done a terrible job of hidingāwhile Cuphead grabbed Bendy by the throat, choking him as he hoisted him a few centimeters off the ground. Mugman tossed his straw over; the one in red caught it in mid-air with his free hand, instantly transforming it into a weapon and jamming it under Bendyās chin, threatening to fire. Yet Bendy wasn't struggling out of fear of the shotānot at all; he was struggling because he saw a rifle aimed right at his little brother's head.
ā¤: As much as I adore listening to you and your brother argue, I have a job to do, and you're getting in the way. Hand over the map.
ā§: Alright, alright... just take it.
ā¤: Aww, for lil ol' me? How kind.
Just as Mugman stepped in to snatch the map, Boris punched him right in the nose and bolted toward where his brother was.
ā¤: Oh~ haha! You lying bastard.
ā§: BENDY! HOLD ON!
ā”: BORIS, WATCH OUT!
Bendy strained his voice against Cuphead's grip to warn his brother, but it was too late. A blue shot pierced Boris's side, leaving him sprawled on the ground.
ā”: BORIS!!
ā: HEY! STOP WASTING SHOTS AND ACTUALLY HIT SOMETHING!
ā¤: SAVE ITāyou said that too late.
ā: What?! MUGMAN!
ā¤: I heard you.
Mugman got up from the ground and approached Boris, who was bleeding profusely from the gunshot. The blue mug leaned in, about to grab the map, and spoke in a low, calm voice.
ā¤: I'm sorry, pup...
Meanwhile, Bendy kept struggling; ink dripped increasingly from his face, staining the Collector's hand and loosening his grip. Seizing the moment, the demon grabbed the hand holding the gun, shoved it away from his body, and lunged at him. The move caught Cuphead off guard; in his shock, in his fear for the demon, he pulled the trigger without realizing the gun was pointed at his brother. The sound of the shot startled both the wolf and the mug, causing them to look toward the weapon, but Mugman didn't even have time to react before his head exploded into a thousand pieces, drenching the wounded wolf on the ground in someone else's blood.
Cuphead struck the demon in the face with all the rage and force he could muster, shook him off, and ran toward his brother's lifeless body, which was slumping to the ground.
A deathly silence fell over the forest; it seemed as though no creature inhabited it.
Cuphead hugged his brother's corpse
ā: Mugman... Mugman, please. Where is your soul? Brother, pleaseāyou were never the one who was supposed to die. Stop hiding; just showā
ā¤: It seems you didn't miss this time~
Cuphead spun around the instant he heard that voice, looking at his brotherāpoised to strike his soul and force it back into his body. But instead, he saw Mugmanāfully corporealāstanding with his back turned, watching the prey that was trying to flee.
ā¤: I hope your aim is as good when shooting at them as it was when you shot at me..........or do you simply hate me that much?
As he spoke, Mugman turned to look at him, and terror seized Cuphead when he noticed the lack of mouth from his brother.
I like to play a lot whit Bendy's personality mixed Boris's
But i need to know how to do it the other way around cause i think Boris is one of the hardest to write cause i din't want him to be just a copy pastel from bendy
Well this doesn't have Blueink (sorry guys š)but it's another re-write of a MOTM scene whit the swap au. This time when Cuphead was shot

Bendy can walk on walls IF it“s not 100% straigh. Like when goats climb on mountain walls and all that
Boris smt tends to eat any weird shit he fins on the ground. Rocks, bottle caps, sometimes bugs, etc. And Bendy has to chase him arround trying to yank whatever Boris is chewing
Boris more than one time just "eats" Bendy“s face to shut him up or cause he is bored. This is weird to explain so eh example
And in the Swap AU instead of Bendy catching a lot of dog-like tendencies, Boris ends up catching some demonic traits
Now more than a hc is a little thing i like to do when it comes to Blueink and it“s their alteregos
I really feel like those 2 would start to get closer using their alteregos since they are trying to put on an act. But it ends up giving them some moments where they fall in love whit the character the other is playing and ofc they hate it CAUSE IT“S JUST AN ACT
Right?
Another Blueink scenario I have is related to the first hc.
Everyone needs to go down a clift cause idk smt whit the map. And as everyone is trying to figure out how to go down, Bendy just walks towards the edge and he is just trying to walk down cause he can, but for the rest of the crew (exept for Boris) it seems like he is jumping off. So Mugman runs towards him trying to catch him but it just made things worse and they both fall down the clift, or well it was more like a slid down. Thanks to Bendy“s balance, he managed to grab Mugman and stand on the wall again but for this to happen he had to carry Mugman nupcial style(? (idk how it is called in english) so Bendy ends up stugling cause he lit can“t handle all that
I 100% believe that Bendy can do this, idk he just seems itād be instinctual for him? Or weāre all just shoving him with too many goat hcs/silly
Iām crying why is Boris doing this, grown ass man over hereššš he causes unnecessary chocking hazards
Boris does that when Bendy is reallyyyyy spilling something he shouldnāt be or there is no other way to shut Bendy up cause we all know Bendy is a yapper
Theyāre alter egos fall in love and then even when they try to switch it up, they do it againšš theyāre a mess Iām telling you
YES THIS WILL HAPPEN though bendy is no where NEAR as strong to carry Mugmanš holding him by the scarf thoā¦..šš like that one deltarune scene where Kris saves Susie from an attackā¦.
I blame @rainbowintheclouds for getting me obsessed with the AU swap. Anyways this is just a rewritting of the first fight the twins and the B-Bros had but in the swap au ofc. Again, I am not a writter and english is not my first language so this is completly translated by google. I“m just doing this cause I haven“t found anything about the swap au
"You can't expect me to believe that! Do you even hear yourself?! Do you realize how ridiculous you sound?" An exhausted voice echoed through the forest.
ā§: Bendy! Please! You have to believe me. I can read this map.
ā”: Boris, that thing is blank! Why do you keep insisting on this myth!?
ā§: WHY DO YOU KEEP INSISTING ON DYING!?
ā”: BECAUSE THAT'S HOW LIFE IS!
An awkward silence settled between them; the tall, slender demon raised his free hand to the ink-drenched half of his faceāhe had to stay calm, or he might start falling apart right then and there. The small wolf hunched his shoulders and lowered his ears, looking even smaller than he already was.
ā§: Bendy, I just⦠I'm sorry, but please, you have to believe in me. You have to understand that I can't let you give up like this; you're the only thing I have.
The animal's dark, shaggy fur hid the fact thatājust like his older brotherāink was trickling from his skin. Those puppy-dog eyes, his posture, his words, the threat of being left alone if the other were goneāit was all enough to make the demon feel guilty, even though he only wanted to spend his final days in peace with his brother. He hated that the wolf didn't socialize with others; he hated how attached he was; he hated his refusal to accept their imminent death. Everyone dies in the end; the only difference was that his body would transform into something elseāsomething he desperately wanted to avoid but couldn't. He had already accepted it; he embraced the idea of āāeverything ending and his body ceasing to suffer, but his departure would mean utter misery for his brother.
ā”: ItĀ“s okay⦠I believe you. You aren't a liar, nor are you a good enough actor to look that convincing while claiming you can see a blank map.
Bendy crouched down with some difficulty to the wolf's level, setting his cane aside and resting a hand on the wolf's shoulder.
ā”: Just tell me what you see, and we'll make our wayā
A red bullet tore straight through Bendy's arm. He winced in pain and let go of his brother's shoulder, his arm dropping to his side; a mixture of blood and ink trickled from the wound down to his glove and dripped onto the ground. Moving as quickly as he could, he wrapped his tail around his brother's torso to pull him behind him and grabbed his cane to try and stand up, all while spotting two familiar figures in the distanceāthe two cups they had seen at the bar.
ā¤: Hahaha, you missed~ you missed~
ā: Just shut up.
The blue mug was singing tauntingly at his twin, who was completely fed up with the whole situation; the mission had been compromised by two morons, and to top it off, one of them was a demon.
ā¤: Whatever you say, little bro! Now it's MY TURN.
In a swift movement, the blue mug was mere centimeters from the demon; unable to defend himself, the demon took a blow to the chest. It wasn't an ordinary hit, thoughāit looked as if a laser had seared a line across his chest, a testament to the power behind it, given the battered state of the surrounding tree trunks.
The impact forced the demon back to the ground; he was barely caught by his younger brother, who was terrified by the blow Bendy had taken and by the very fact that such a thing was even possible.
ā§: OH MY GOD! BENDY! ARE YOU OKAY!?
ā”: Runā¦
Boris looked at him as if he were crazy, refusing to let go.
ā”: I SAID RUN.
His voice, commanding, emerged with a deep growlāa sound befitting a demon. It was a threat directed at his own brother, reinforced by the collector who grabbed the older one by the horns and pinned him to the ground. Burdened by guilt, the wolf fled.
ā: MUGMAN! HE'S GETTING AWAY! GO CATCH HIM⦠I'll handle the demonā¦
Cuphead slowly approached, fixing a murderous glare on the demon; he didn't care how weak or vulnerable the creature lookedāhe would never trust a demon again as long as he lived.
ā¤: Hey, hey, hey! I can handle the beanpole.
ā: ā¦.He spun your head around with a single punch.
ā¤: All the more reason. Iāve got a score to settle.
ā: If you start playing one of your games, I swear-
ā¤: Tick-tock, little bro; the longer we talk, the further that little wolf gets away.
Cuphead shot his brother the same murderous look he had leveled at the demon, then glanced toward the forest where his prey had escaped. He looked back at Mugman, and with a huff, set off to hunt down the wolf.
ā”: No⦠don't touch him.
ā¤: Hmm?
His attention returned to the demon on the ground, pinned beneath his foot. He noticed the demon's hand already gripping his cane tightly; fueled by rage, the demon swung with all his might, trying to strike him on the head with it.
ā”: I SAID DON'T YOU DARE TOUCH IT.
Mugman was forced to let go and step back to avoid the blow. He knew exactly what would happen if that cane got near his head again.
ā¤: Don't think that little trick is going to work on me again, sweetheart. Now we're on equal footing; it's time for a fair fight.
ā”: What part of this looks like a fair fight to you?
Bendy rose with the help of his cane, leaning heavily on it with his uninjured arm. He was right; the fight was anything but fairāone combatant had wounds on his arm and chest, and his only means of defense was the cane he needed just to move, while the other was an expert killer armed with a gun.
ā¤: Mmm, you're right. This doesn't look very fair.
Mugman drew his weapon from his head-mug and fired at Bendy's cane, shattering it instantly and nearly causing the demon to fall again. Yet, Bendy remained standing tall, despite the struggle and his body's urge to give up. Then, Mugman tossed his weapon toward Bendy, who caught it with his uninjured hand.
ā”: Whaā?
ā¤: How about now? There are three shots in that gun; I'll give you the chance to shoot me. If you hit me once, you can leave. If you hit me twice, you can do whatever you want with meāquestion me, escape, or⦠well, take a third shot and, you know, I'll "die." But if you don't manage to hit me even once⦠. . . That wound in your chest will be nothing compared to what Iām going to do to you.
ā”: Youāre crazy if you think I trust your word or that Iāll take part in a game as sick as you are!
Bendy was right to be suspicious; Mugman wasn't just toying with himāhe was showing off his power. No matter what happened, Mugman would survive; even if Bendy somehow managed to kill him miraculously, he could simply rise from the dead and finish the job. He just wanted to let Bendy believe he had a chance at survival, only to snatch it away himself.
ā¤: HAHA, PEOPLE HAVE BEEN TELLING ME THAT SINCE I WAS 12, SO IT MUST BE TRUE. But while we're sharing fun facts⦠I love messing with my brother, because I know he didn't miss his shot⦠he just wanted to make this little hunt more entertaining.
The look of horror on Bendy's face said it all. They weren't after them; they were after the mapāthey were after Boris.
ā¤: So⦠what are you going to do, little devil?
A scream rang out in the distance, sounding almost like a howl. It was a voice Bendy knew perfectly: his brother's voice.
ā”: Borisā¦!
ā¤: Hehehe, looks like someone needs you. All the more reason to hurry up.
Bendy glared at him with indescribable contempt; his teeth chatteredāa sound of menace and hatred. It was a horrible noiseāone Mugman had heard from other demons beforeāthat never failed to send a shiver down his spine. Bendy glanced toward the forest, hesitating because of his bad leg. TO HELL WHIT ITāTHIS IS ABOUT HIS BROTHER. He spun around quickly; balancing as best he could with his tail and fighting through the pain of straining his leg, he sprinted into the depths of the forest, heading toward the source of the scream.
ā”: BORIS! HANG IN THERE!!
ā¤: OH NO! WHERE DO YOU THINK YOU'RE GOING?!
With the same speed as his first attack, the mug-headed figure beat him to the punch and struck him in the chest again, slamming him against a tree and knocking the air out of him. Bendy let out a silent gasp, clutching his chest as he struggled to catch his breath; when he pulled his hand away, he noticed the blood mixing with ink on his gloveācoming both from the still-open wound on his chest and the residue left by the shot to his arm. He was certain the arm wound hadn't closed yet, but at least he could move the limb now.
ā¤: Did you really think Iād let you get away that easily!? Ha! I already told you: either you kill me, or you aren't leaving this place. Iām the only thing standing in your way.
Mugman aimed his finger at Bendyās head; it glowed blue, threatening to fire.
ā¤: Your brother is going to die if you don't do something⦠Itās my life or his. SOMEONE HAS TO DIE.
Bendy struggled to his feet, leaning against the tree trunk behind him; Mugmanās hand tracked his movement, never wavering from his head.
ā¤: Are you going to try and escape agaā
His voice was cut off by three shots fired right beside his headāone after anotherāgrazing his scarf. Bendy dropped the weapon to the ground and stared straight into Mugmanās eyes.
ā”: I dare you to even try something.
Mugman recoiled instantlyānot because of the three shots near his head, but because of the sheer terror caused by that tone of voice and the dead look on Bendyās eyes, with ink seemingly overflowing from him. That figure haunted him; it wasn't the first time he had felt that kind of guilt crashing down on him like a bucket of ice-cold water. As Mugman tried to back away, Bendy took a limping step forward.
ā”: Iām not going to choose between two lives. I wonāt kill anyoneāespecially not for some sick little gameābut if someone has to die⦠if you let my brother liveā¦
With his injured hand, he grabbed Mugman by the wristāthe very hand where he had seen that murderous glintāand forced him to aim at his head once more.
ā”: Try to take my life⦠I missed all three shots; go ahead⦠Though I doubt you can.
Mugman snatched his hand away to put some distance between himself and Bendy. Staring at him in utter confusionāterrified by Bendyās appearance, that hollow gaze, the exhausted voice, and that total lack of regard for his own lifeāhe was reminded of the deal made so many years ago and the reason behind it; it was all too similar toā¦
Bendyās dead-eyed stare shifted into an expression of disappointment.
ā”: You beg me to kill you, yet you can't bring yourself to do the same to me⦠You're a coward.
The silence was broken only by the rustling of leaves and the arrival of another presence.
ā: I told you not to go playing games with the demon.
Mugman snapped out of his trance and looked at his brother, reverting to his usual attitude.
ā¤: Can you blame me? I just wanted a little entertainment. Besides, he won fair and square.
Bendy looked at him in confusion. Won? Mugman tried to adjust his scarfādamaged by bulletsāwhile Cuphead stared in astonishment.
ā: Whatā¦?
ā”: My brotherā! What did you do to him?!
The one in red looked the taller figure up and down, judging him simply for existing.
ā: ⦠He's fine. I just needed the map.
ā¤: Ooh~ Looks like someone woke up on the nice side of the bed today.
ā: Shut up. Heāll be fine; heās no worse off than you are.
Bendy instantly turned and headed into the woods, moving as fast as his condition allowed.
Cuphead pulled a gun from his head, peered through the sight, and aimed at his distant prey.
Boris felt liquid trickling down his forehead; he saw bubbles forming on his arm and clumps of fur beginning to fall away.
ā§: No-no-no-no, please, no! Not nowāAGH!?!
A shot tore through part of his snout, forcing him to drop the map and clutch the wound with his hands; yet the injury only drove him to panic, further agitating the curse.
Cuphead stowed the gun back inside his head, searching for the animal he had just shot, like a hunter seeking his trophy.
ā: Come here, doggy, doggy~ I promise to let you go if you give me the mapā
Cuphead traced the source of the scream, looking down to find the animal in a wretched state.
Boris had begun to deform; ink had completely blinded his vision, and his bullet-wounded snout was contorting violently, tearing through the skin with his own protruding bones and jaws. The rest of his body looked relatively normalāassuming one considers skin melting off one's own frame to be normalāthough in reality, his condition wasn't as horrific as that of other victims of this curse; still, it was far from a pretty sight.
Cuphead stared for a few moments; to him, the scene didn't differ much from any other wounded, frightened animalāespecially given the shrieks it was letting out⦠Yet, he couldn't help but feel a twinge of pity. But that wasn't his job. He tried to approach silently to grab the map, but the wolf's hearing was too sharp.
ā§: WHO'S THERE!? BENDY!? IS THAT YOU!?
Cuphead stood motionless; he didn't know how to respond. Faced with the silence, Boris scrambled backward, moving away from the person he thought was his brother.
ā§: NO! BENDY! I'M SORRYāPLEASE DON'T BE MAD AT ME. I DIDN'T KNOW HOW TOāI DIDN'T MEAN TOāSTAY AWAY, PLEASE! DON'T LOOK AT ME! I DON'T WANT YOU TO SEE ME LIKE THIS! PLEASE, GO AWAY!
Cuphead's silence was filled by Boris's screams; he had been frozen in place upon hearing those words. Boris was in so much pain and suffering so deeply, yet he preferred to suffer alone rather than be a burden to his brother. Witnessing an attack caused by the curse was hard enough on its own, but those screamsāseeing him scramble away in fear, like a helpless animalābroke through Cuphead's guarded nature.
He slowly approached him, pulling a bottle from his coat pocket.
ā: Easy now⦠I'm not Bendy.
ā§: STAY AWAY!
ā: I can help you.
ā§: I SAID STAY AWAY!
Acting on pure instinct, and with his snout shattered, Boris snapped his jaws at the airāonly to be met with a firm grip that forced his mouth shut and pinned his head against the ground.
ā: Don't make me regret helping you.
His only response was a series of growls; his body was too weak to even struggle or break free from the hold.
ā: Good. I'm going to let you go⦠Don't even think about doing anything.
He slowly let go, and just as Cuphead had predicted, the wolf opened its jaws seconds later to bite him; instead, Cuphead moved quickly and grabbed the wolf by the jaw, forcing its mouth open and making it swallow the bottle's contents.
The wolf thrashed, trying to break free from the grip and stop drinking the stuffāit felt like it was burning him up inside.
ā: DonĀ“t thank me
Cuphead picked up the map from the ground and walked away, leaving the empty bottle beside the wolf, which was slowly regaining its original form.
Boris slowly regained his form; the first thing he did was touch his snout, noticing that the severe wound heād had moments earlier had closed, leaving behind a scarāhe knew that was a bad sign.
He looked at his clothes, stained with ink and blood, and tried his best to remove the traces of ink so his brother wouldn't noticeāmostly failing, of courseāuntil he saw the bottle the Collector had left on the ground.
DIP. He knew perfectly well how dangerous that liquid was, yet it was what the Red Cup had forced him to drink; his body had burned for a few moments before returning to normalāall because of that deadly acid.
With the utmost care, he used the few remaining drops in the bottle to completely get rid of the ink stains on his body, then leaned back against the nearest tree, trying to process everything that had happened.
The map, the chase, one of his first severe attacks, and the help of someone he viewed as unforgivableāa murderer. Boris realized he was missing the map, but he didn't have the energy to even stand up; now he understood why his brother was so lazy.
It didn't take long before he heard shouting in the distance. It was his brother calling him; he barely managed to sit up enough for his brother to spot him amidst the thicket, and Bendy immediately came stumbling toward him, knocking him to the ground with a hugāpartly because his own leg had finally given out.
Bendy hugged him so tightly it felt like he was going to squeeze the life out of him.
The older brother took the wolf's snout in his hands, examining him closely for wounds and noticing the new scar on his face.
ā”: WHAT DID THAT BASTARD DO TO YOU?! He didn't hurt you anywhere else, did he?!
ā§: AND YOU'RE ASKING ME THAT?! LOOK AT YOURSELF
ā”: You know how this thing works; my wounds are already closingāat least the one on my arm.
ā§: YOU CAN'T LET THEM HURT YOU LIKE THATānext time youā¦
ā”: NEXT TIME?! Boris. NO! We're going home. That thing can't be worth it. Look at us!
ā§: IT'S WORTH ENOUGH TO ME.
ā”: . . . Boris, please. During those seconds when I couldn't find you, I feared the worst.
ā§: Now you know how I always feelā¦
ā”: . . . Fine, but if things get out of hand, we're leavā!
A sharp blow to each of the siblings' heads plunged everything into darkness, leaving them knocked out on the floor.
