The name's Ma Dai. Hey, are you new around here? You look like you might need some assistance. If so, I'm just the kind of guy to help you out! I'm always looking to make a new friend. It's basic stuff perhaps, but don't forget to read the rules before attempting to interact! I do like to meet new people, but there can be quite the crowd when people aren't following rules!"

It was just this morning when Sun Quan had been informed that someone was coming. The only thing he had been told was that it was someone from Shu and that they wanted to see him. Although it wasn’t meant in a bad way, the young lord figured it was about them wanting to maintain their otherwise fragile alliance.
Still, he saw no reason to refuse this one visit. He was prepared to receive news of either Liu Bei wanting to maintain the alliance longer or the contrary. But that was merely an assumption of his. After a few hours elapse, he’s told by some guards that the visit has arrived. He goes out and begins to walk towards the entrance of the palace.
But surprisingly, he’s not even done walking when he’s approached by an otherwise peculiar individual. Who at the same time seems awfully familiar to him. Upon hearing the man call out to him with such a bright smile and friendly disposition he widens his eyes. He’s received with a gift and what he recognizes as a cup of wine.
After he introduced himself, Sun Quan allowed him to finish his sentence before replying himself. “Ah, so you’re the visit from Shu I was expecting…” he said whilst holding a more relaxed expression. “Yes, I remember you quite clearly. You’re Ma Dai. If I’m not mistaken, you once came and gave me gifts Liu Bei offered me,” he said.
He reached out and took the goblet of wine he was being offered. To tell the truth, this was indeed a pleasant surprise. Not something he would expect from a formal visit that he was used to. Quan gives himself the right to smile and receive the other man in kind. Normally he would remain serious but this was different, he felt the friendly aura.
“I’d be delighted. So it was Zhuge Liang who sent you…? I can definitely see why. From the time I met you, I remember you were always tactful, polite and… gleeful in the way you approached me. Don’t get me wrong though, I know you mean well,” he expressed. “Let’s go to the courtyard. We can talk more there.”
His head would fall toward one side, the vibrant tail upon his hat swaying with the movement. A gentle nod serving as his response, taking hint from the more neutral greeting of the Lord. As one of the goblets had been taken, he shifted the other to the crook of his arm, taking a moment to release the top of the gift and pour into both of their cups. Quite the odd way to enjoy a drink with one another, wandering freely - but something about being carefree seemed to sit right with him. Willingly, he placed himself at the side of the other and followed his lead - permitting the other to set their pace and direction, he would walk beside him as an equal. Perhaps bold, likely to be remarked upon should anyone see his lack of decorum toward the man.
“You know, we are friends now, aren’t we?” Those words, spoken so playfully yet holding deeper meaning beneath them, seemed to fall between a question and statement, without a sense of certainty. As if testing the waters, to see if he had overstepped himself. “We shouldn’t be distant. After all, you never know when you’re going to need your friends.. it’s important to show your sincerity.” He chuckled, nodding as he thought back to what had been said earlier. “Ahh.. Yes. It’s in the best interest for all, to keep close together- .. but keeping our relations amicable..” He shook his head, smiling instead. Words would not be needed, and stepping into that territory- .. it would do neither of them good. “When I saw that my friends weren’t full of energy, and smiles were short on hand.. I had the idea. Ah, normally our wines are taken by Lord Zhang Fei. He might not be too happy when he learns I’ve taken some of the best, for you! Let’s enjoy it together, my Lord."
Goblets clank together, haphazardly held between the gloved fingers of a single hand as the other supported slightly more than a healthy amount of wine. Perhaps, it had been intended to share with several men - but it would be used to toast just one other. Ma Dai swept through guards, dismissing their attempts to announce his presence - ignoring their pleas for propriety and upholding standards. It seemed, from what he could see, that what the Prime Minister suggested had been correct, not that his word was to be doubted. It appeared that despite the alliances alleged between their homelands, that little remained in the way of strong foundation between them. Empty promises, ill-reigned tempers, fabricated kindness to veil insults as a result of many of the wrong-doings of both factions. Should another see through the facade- .. well, at this point, at least, Shu would be decimated. Wu- ... would certainly fall not long after. Hours were poured into suggestions, months into attempts to truly mend their bonds - all resulting in his exhaustion with the matter and a proposition of his own. Years of fighting between forefathers would not be overlooked without taking the first step to friendship - and not seeking anything of it. With leave from Zhuge Liang, he made the request to his Lord, and on his way he went.
"My Lord!" He called in a carefree manner as he wandered the length of the hall. "Lord Sun Quan!" He now shouted, a joyful smile plastered upon his lips as he raised the items he held. "Ma Dai, subordinate of Zhuge Liang is here! .. I bring a gift for you!" Though, he seemed to think better of this proclamation. "Ah... But if Lord Zhang Fei is to ask anything about it.. I wasn't involved. Alright?" He saluted, awkwardly managing the goblets he held. "We don't need formalities.. come! Have a drink with me."
With aid from the allied forces, the troops quelled the bandits who had been pillaging the local village. Though an officer had suggested they isolate the enemy with fire, nature intervened (to the strategist’s relief). By nightfall, the once-fluttering snowfall escalated into bitter winds, prompting the bandits’ retreat. The winds also halted the army’s return, yet at the villagers’ urging, spare lodgings were reserved for the wounded. Scattered across the village’s fields, the remaining troops withdrew into their tents to endure the night.
“The winds should settle by the morning - I hope you do not mind the accommodations.” Despite Xun’s meager attempts to warm himself, the shivers persisted. “The villagers were generous enough to share their space with the troops - I wonder how we may return their kindness.”
"Haaah!" The drawn-out exclamation would escape his lips in a moment of relief as his larger form collapsed in fatigue, atop the prepared bedding.. though meager, it was. But, the simple act of laying down in what felt to be the first time in -days- was more than enough reason for Ma Dai to take a moment to bask in it. Such a simple pleasure must be thoroughly enjoyed. Even though he soon came to regret the decision, as he felt his armor chafe and cut into his skin. This resulted in an awkward wriggle, before lazily drawing himself upward. His movements heavily restricted, he would carefully maneuver his body to attempt to stand and remove it.
"Hey! Isn't this more than someone could ask for, in our position? We have shelter for the night." He would offer with a broad smile attempting to ease Lu Xun's concerns. He hadn't known much of the other. It seemed this would be the appropriate chance to get to know him. After all, aren't we used to even less?" He would jest, before seeming to realize it was not a man of Shu he spoke to. Perhaps the other had been used to more luxurious accommodations? Awkwardly, he would raise a hand to the back of his head, fingers entangling within his own hair. He truly didn't know much about the other. But, it seemed this would be the appropriate chance to get to know him. "Hmm.. if it's repaying kindness, you can just leave it to me. I don't leave debts unsettled, you know? But what to do to thank them.."
Do you ship zhuge liang an ma dai? Just curious is all!! :) i love your covor photo.
{{ Hello! I apologize, I never recieved a notification that you sent this??? D: I just happened to check my inbox, and this was here .. I don’t know how old this is and I’m so sorry for not responding sooner. I hope you weren’t waiting very long! To answer your question, I do ship them, yes! preciousOTP. They’re my favourite pairing in the series, even though their interactions appear quite minimal. One of my favourite things, is that in each installment since Dai became playable, they have hidden lines to one another! Thank you so much for the compliment! }}
{{ SHHH DON’T TELL ME THIS STUFF. I WON’T LEAVE YOU ALONE, I WILL SEND YOU ALL THE DRABBLES I HAVE STORED IN THE DEPTHS OF MY COMPUTER & the art i’ve commissioned
i will convert any and all willing into dailiang trash- i have nobody who ships them & my heart dies inside
HE WOULD. He would paint him beautiful things, which would tell stories with each stroke - which Liang would then discover. Little, hidden meanings between each portrait. There’s minimal hints as well that Ma Dai, at least in DW-verse, was a strategist beneath Liang.. and I love just imagining the two of them practically slaving over various maps for days and days on end. The candlelight flickering, the light catching the subtle flutter of Liang’s lashes and Dai just freezing and forgetting to breath. And there’s just this moment of silence, and they just share a glance.. and maybe a subtle brush of hands. OHOH. And, if he did paint things for Liang, I imagine that would be how he presented his ideas. Which, if you think about it, is exceptionally smart - especially if they’re in different areas. Dai could portray entire layouts, strategies, plans - and Liang would decipher them and there would always be cute things hidden in between that might try and get Liang to blush and nobody else would be able to figure out the plans and and ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ }}

Hello! Sharr here returning for the god knows how many time with a mutli muse blog! I have some muses I used to write, as well as some new muses! For those who don’t know me, I was once the mun of tigerxclaw and goldxwyvern.
I am OC, crossover and AU friendly, so you don’t have to write in the Dynasty Warriors fandom to write with any of my muses!
So, if you’re interested in interacting with my muses, please give this post a like or reblog! Thank you!
{{ OOC: .. they’re changing the english va’s for dynasty warriors 9. From the looks of it, not just some characters - all characters. And the replacements aren’t exactly up to par. It looks like their entire budget went into the free-roam, but not into character design and voice acting. I mean, changing some voices - sure, that’s going to happen. But this is- .. just.. i’m really fucking angry about this . }}
{{ Dai-mun is in the middle of preparing for a convention and going out of town for nearly a full month. Not even “in the middle of”, I’m leaving in under a week so I’m just- .. stressed out beyond all belief. Still working on my blog every free moment I get. I know I don’t roleplay very often and I’m very slow with messages, but I do log in almost every day and I just ;; I’m still here I promise I haven’t gone anywhere I’m just busy and anxious. I’m alive, I promise. ;; }}
☆ Something you did last year that made you happy!
I did a semi-decent amount of travelling last year like I wanted to, and finally had the courage to enter a dance class again!
☆ Something you want to improve on this year!
I really want to improve on how negative my thoughts can be, or how they can come across, a majority of the time. I really want to be better - and not for me. I want to be more reliable, more independent and a more dependable person. I want to do more things that make people lose their breath and be overwhelmed with a lot of love~
☆ Something you want your muse to improve on, or write!
I'd really like to see him make some deep connections with other muses. I've already had a few muses in mind that I think Dai would really get to have a deep connection with. I'd really like him to be present/this blog to be active, for at least the majority of the year. I'd really like to improve on getting his "voice" into the writing, too. Daibear tends to have this.. trill to his tone and I don't think my posts come across as animated as I would like them to be!
☆ Something nice about a fellow RPer!
@avianflame I've actually seen this in more than one space, and offhandedly mentioned by a few other people and perhaps in a slightly joking manner? But it's something I whole-heartedly agree with. In a way, you're sort of the Mother-figure of the fandom. I know I probably thank you too much for this, but you are one of the major reasons that I feel the Koei fandom has changed within the last couple years. You do everything you can to support those around you, even if it tires yourself out ... and then you keep going. You keep pushing. You keep moving forward. I'm not nearly half as motivated as you are - and I really admire you and look up to you. Your kindness made me feel welcome here and turned this place into a home. As far as your writing goes, your muse is an extension of you - and I'm not talking specifically about Lu Xun. When you write, you embody the character absolutely. In a matter of moments, the writer just seems to le poof and then you're interacting with the muse. You bring a sense of reality into roleplay and somehow manage to push the plot forward and keep everything fun. You're irreplaceable. I always look forward to writing with you, and I hope we can get a thread up and going!
@crimsontigerlord Efrik, I don't even know where to begin in saying what I would like to - or rather how to word what I would like to. But the best way, I suppose, is that I just generally appreciate you as a person. I was a little frightened when we first started speaking because I wasn't sure you would want to talk to me, but you've been so open and so understanding and patient with me. You're someone with a very, very caring heart - and a lot to offer people. You're someone with an extremely caring heart and have so much to offer people - both through writing and through friendship. It's never a dull moment with you and I love all the times that we've spent sharing our headcanons and works - and our little thread back on your old blog! Honestly, one of my New Years Resolutions was to buck up the courage to ask you to do a Modern-Verse RP because you inspired me with that so much. You inspire me, in general. You're always there. Always. You, too, are a major pat of this fandom to me that makes it the wonderful place that it has been. You encourage me to step out and interact a little more and to not be so shut-in and anxious, without pressuring me - and because of that, I'm able to see more and more that it's not just a small group of people making the fandom what it is. This is becoming a beautiful and loving space to be - and you protect it. You make this a safe space to be with your firmness, even though some take you to be hard to approach.. they're missing out on so much by shying away. Thank you for being you. Thank you for being here. Thank you for being in my life. Just.. thank you.
@severemarquis YOU CAN IGNORE MY LITTLE SHUBIE BUTT IF THAT IS WHAT YOU DESIRE, BUT I WILL BE FOREVER THROWING MY LOVE AT YOU FROM AFAR. pleasenoticeme. I think that if I had to describe you in one word, it would probably be laughter. You spark a joy in me that just makes me laugh and have fun - all the time. We really haven't had too much of a chance to write together properly, and I know I've been a (god-awful) terrible friend in not being around all that often. I want to apologize to you for that and let you know I think highly of you and want to be closer to you. This year, I want to show that to you - if you would let me. We've had a fair few amount of giggles in the past, but you're more than capable of dropping into some extremely serious roles that most would have one heck of a time with it. There's a natural flow in your writing, and you really delve deep into the plotline.. and from reading over your roleplays, I think you bring out the best in others and inspire them. When you write, the entire world just has new life breathed into it.
☆ Tag your friends! Tag your followers! If you see this, do it too! Spread the love!
{{ Entirely inspired by this beautiful artwork, I stumbled upon on Pixiv. It stole my breath and I was trying to describe the sheer meaning behind it that I saw in the artwork, to a friend who isn’t familiar with Dynasty Warriors. Wound up writing a drabble. }}
In a moment of confidence, he outstretched his hand to pluck against the silken string of the zither. As the tone resounded through the room, he instinctively pulled back - his breath catching in his lungs. Like the wavering candle that cast a warm glow within the room, the confidence that embodied him wavered and died out. A single note, perhaps played beautifully. Yet, as it rang within his ears, he could not hear the true sound - but rather, a note that had been incorrectly played, upon a whim - in a moment he trusted himself. Yet, here he stands in the aftermath of his decision. Frozen. He acted upon a mere whim, of which he had been so carefully taught to control himself - screams, echoing through his mind as blood splays before his eyes. Catching his poised fingers, drenching himself in blood. His breath releases, shuddering and inconfident. A cold settling over himself, as he realizes the scene played had been within his mind - he was not within battle. Yet, had he chosen to act upon such a whim in the heat of the moment while on the battlefield.. many lives may have paid the price, for his one, simple mistake. An unbearing weight begins to press down upon him, crushing the breath from his lungs once more and forcing his feet within the ground. Everything within him stiffens. The entire fate of the Kingdom he served, would one day rest upon his shoulders. His Lord would look to he, and he alone, for guidance. He would be alone, with so many counting on him.
Distantly, he senses movement. A soft breeze, indicating the gentle swish of a prized fan, as it glided through the air. Followed by a gentle caress of the zither-string, he had since released. An exhale near his ear, yet not his own; all had been so far away, as he found himself drowning within the overwhelming realization of his actions. Cast into the unforgiving waters, of his thoughts. How unworthy he had been. From the corner of his panic-stricken and widened eye, the light seemed to brighten within the room. The bright light drew closer, for a moment. A chilled touch, upon the tips of his fingers. Everything released, and the darkness he had been writhing within, was cast away. A shuddered breath escaped him, as he pressed his fingers against that cold touch. "Forgive me, Master," he uttered in defeat. Voice broken. Confidence gone.
Yet, he stared down upon the hand that traced his own, so delicately. He recieved a response - not in the form of speech, but another pluck upon the zither. The warm, beautiful tone filling the room, as the piece continued - in the way it ought to. The presense at his side would chase the darkness within his mind, easing him from the brink that his terrifying thoughts had brought him to. Within the tune, he could hear the forgiveness of the Chancellor. The light-hearted tone of his playing indicated that his mood had not soured. Had he managed to please the other, simply for recognizing his own mistake? He would chance a sidewars glance, greeted with the slow, wandering gaze of the Chancellor’s eyes toward his own. In turn, the pace of his heart would race within his chest. He found that underlying confidence within, begin to build once more, alongside the flutter of his heart. Uncertainty filled him. Could he truly do anything? Yet, the tune drowned out his thoughts - playing louder within his mind, concealing what threatened to tear him apart. He was being supported. He was being urged on. Thus, he took to the opposite end. Taking care in learning from the one he cherished, playing so beautifully alongside the Chancellor.
