I need to get this off my chest: the Joker Out weekly updates are still AI-slop.

Let me first make something very clear: the open letter reached them. They were tagged by countless people on Instagram stories, and they saw them - multiple times. They read it, and instead of making it clear to the fans whether they wanted to keep using AI or not and make it clear when they are using it or not, they chose to put a "veil" over our eyes.

If you have noticed, all the updates lately have been "Hi, it's x member here." followed by a vague description of what they are doing, followed by a random concert talk.

The first update we got from them since the letter was - allegedly - written by Kris. I can't send prints of the letters, so I'm adding the link (https://www.tumblr.com/musicalislife/787785684632158208/weekly-update-20250630?source=share). This is the worst offender of them all. Good job adding some stuff that makes it feel human, like "hahaha."; "And now? Sleep." and "A few days of “rest” (whatever that means)…" other than that? This letter is awful. Commas? Don't know her.

"We just wrapped up a show that honestly… left us completely speechless. Seriously – whatever happened out there tonight hasn’t happened anywhere else before."

Okay, "Kris", tell us more about what happened. Why are you speechless? One of the signs of AI is being really vague when it comes to descriptions and just saying generic sentences.

And not a mention of Nace? On his birthday? Seriously?

The following week, we got Jan (https://www.tumblr.com/musicalislife/788383223094870016/weekly-update-20250707?source=share). I actually believe Jan wrote this one. For the most part. This paragraph still feels a little vague, but since Jan wrote it past midnight, I can excuse vagueness:

"Let’s talk about Kranj. Because what happened there wasn’t about numbers. It wasn’t about how big the stage was. It was all about the energy. We’ve said it before and we’ll keep saying it. You don’t need thousands of people to create something that sticks with you."

And Jan thinking about Kranj feels very on Jan brand (yes, this is about Jance, shush)

Next, we got Mister Jordan himself (https://www.tumblr.com/musicalislife/789003749814370304/weekly-update-20250714?source=share). It's just so short but... that's not the problem. Again, some vagueness: "Let’s be honest. We all know what this week was about. I’m still collecting my thoughts from yesterday!" I don't know how to explain it, but it feels off.

Bojan's letter feels genuine (https://www.tumblr.com/musicalislife/789659789925990401/weekly-update-20250721?source=share) - at least the first part where he talks about what everyone is doing. (Though I wonder why they keep saying "WILD" every update. It makes them sound like an old man trying to connect with the youth.)

Granted, Jure could have seen how Bojan did it and tried to replicate it, but look me in the eyes and tell me Jure wrote a letter. I love Jure, but that man can't remember to promote concerts on Instagram most of the time, and you expect me to believe he wrote this letter? It almost feels as if... someone wrote it for him.

So, I have a theory on what's going on, but first of all, this is not meant to throw any shade at anyone. It's just the observations I've made as a fan, and a lot of people have also pointed it out. Joker Out has a new social media manager. And that, in itself, is a good thing! It gives them time to focus on their music while not neglecting the communication side of things. It was something we wanted for a while! However, this manager is pushing them towards using GenAI, even though they had openly expressed a dislike for it before. People are allowed to change their minds, of course, but the response they got wasn't a positive one, and what we asked was clarity because we don’t want to see/interact with that shit. Instead, we got clowned on, of course. Instead, we get TikToks following crappy AI trends, of course. Instead, we got emails that were probably written by the social media manager with a mix of GenAI, of course.

You may think that I'm making JO the sole responsible for the AI usage, or that I'm making the new manager the sole responsible. The truth is that I think both are equally responsible. The manager for coming up with these AI ideas we don't want and are not helping the band, and JO for letting it be published and following blindly.

One thing they did since the letter was shut up about the cartoon. I don't know if we'll see a comeback, but for now, they haven't mentioned it since the contradictory statements on its usage of AI, but, in my PERSONAL opinion, that was a good decision.

Why do I need to say all of this now? I already unsubscribed from the open letters because I WILL NOT promote this and keep being clowned on. But one of the things that has been bothering me lately is their TikTok.

What happened?

Genuinely.

Joker Out was always so funny even when they were senseless. We are still laughing at ARE YOU?? after all this time even though we don't understand it and now we get Italian ai brain rot, labubu and God knows what else (I'm not on TikTok, I'm always late to trends, sorry). It's not the type of content that makes me go "Oh, who are these people? Oh, they do music? Let me listen/go to their concerts", it just makes me want to scroll away. "It's ai again, it's capitalism again, idc".

I have a big question: who's this content for? Right now, it feels like JO doesn't know who they are aiming their content at. Is it your current fandom? Even though we have expressed we don't like this? Is it for new people who don't know you? That's the first impression you want them to have of you?

I'm just so tired.

I love JO and I want to go to their concerts, and buy merch and have fun in this fandom, but instead I have to be piecing together if they are using GenAI - a tool that promotes anti-intellectualism, capitalism, destroys the planet and steals from artists – because they can’t give it up, let alone give us clarity.

An unpleasant read but honestly every Joker Out fan should read this. Because while Joker Out don't seem value honesty anymore - we as a fandom do. I have a lot of thoughts about this but I will let everyone form their our opinion. One thing for sure - I have unsubscribed from their email and from their official accounts because the blatant LYING is making me sick. (apparently you can send an email back to their weekly updates. if you want to let them know how you feel about all this new direction).

Joker Out and Katarina - do your job well or don't do it at all. Unless of course you want to get rid of your current fans and be a radio band for 13yo girls who think trololo ai slop is funny. Then you are on track 👎👎👎

Jan probably should've predicted that this could possibly happen. Or maybe not. It's not like Jan knew beforehand that their plans would derail like this at the last moment. And in general, Nace is perfectly capable of managing his own emotions. He knows what triggers to avoid and even if a meltdown does occur, the brunette is able to stay calm enough to at least get himself somewhere safe. Now Nace is curled up on the kitchen floor, head in his hands, tugging at his hair. Other than his heavy breathing, the other man is relatively quiet all things considered. Jan can't tell if that's a good or a bad sign. There's shattered pieces around Nace from where he presumably dropped a plate earlier. Jan hadn't seen it happen but that was probably the final trigger for Nace. "Sweetheart.....what have you done to yourself?" Jan gently pipes up, keeping his voice soft. Nace releases a pained grunt but otherwise doesn't respond. He must be going non verbal then. Jan squats a few steps away from his lover, mindful of the broken plate. Nace is still pulling restlessly at his hair. Jan notices that he tends to do that when frustrated. And today's events definitely call for frustration. They were supposed to meet up with Kris and Jure today, Nace especially looking forward to it, but the plans had abruptly been canceled due to unforeseen circumstances. While Jan doesn't care much, he knows sudden changes are very difficult for Nace to deal with.

The older man begun washing dishes to calm himself. But Jan had heard a crash not much later so safe to say Nace's day isn't going great so far.

"You're okay, Nace....." He tries to verbally reassure his lover. Nace seems to be overstimulated right now and so Jan refrains from touching him. Brown eyes soon fleet to look into his, something about the spark in them so upset that Jan's face immediately softens. "Oh, love...."

"Give me a sign if you don't want it, but I'm gonna hug you within the next 5 seconds, okay?" Jan can't bare to just stay sitting here. The urge to comfort is almost primal. Nace is thankfully coming to himself again, if slowly, offering a small nod in consent.

Jan impatiently swipes some of the plate shards aside with the back of his hand before settling properly beside Nace. He gently takes the brunette's wrists to make Nace stop his hair pulling at once. Nace easily relents, tense body gradually relaxing as Jan wraps him up in his arms. Jan holds his boyfriend like that for a long time, until the calmness is practically radiating off of Nace and the other man puffs out a sigh against his shoulder.

"I broke the fucking plate." The simplicity of the statement causes Jan to start laughing. Though Nace's chuckle is quiet, it's there and it's enough to make Jan feel relieved. Crisis averted.

"That's okay." He tells Nace with a shrug. "We can always get another one.....at IKEA."

"Oh, please...." Though Nace rolls his eyes, the smile that spreads across his face betrays him.

Nace: has a supply of your favourite kind stocked, both pads and tampons cause he knows it can change day to day. Has a bin next to the toilet too so you can dispose of them easily. Puts them on his shopping list when he sees they're running low.

Jure: being accident prone means one has an extensive first aid kit. He's never been shot before but has heard tampons are great for stopping the bleeding so he has some of them just in case. That and if he ever gets a blood nose. It's... unconventional but you appreciate the gesture none the less. He makes up for it by being very into period sex.

Jan: his preference is him being inside you or eating you out the entire time, you laying back on the bed while he services you, a towel down to catch anything and save himself a load of laundry. Shower sex is especially good during this as it all washes away.

If you must be out of his arms though he'll either have something random tucked in a draw or at the bottom of a bag from last time or he'll run to the shops to get what you need.

Bojan: would only know your cycle if he was trying to breed you, wanting to know exactly when you were most fertile so he could fuck you and know you'd be likely to have a baby with him.

Otherwise it's a surprise each time, him running out the door to the nearest open store, bringing home your favourite chocolates and ten extra packets of pads and tampons of all sizes you know you won't need just in case you bleed through it all.

Kris: has your cycle in his phone and makes sure he has everything you might need before you even ask. Keeps note of your preferences and makes sure there's also chocolate, a hot water bottle, his dick and snuggles on demand for you.

It sounds like a few of you are having a hard time, and while I don't want to derail completely from the intended theme of this blog, I thought we could take a little break from the wilder concepts tonight to think about some emotional healing.

So if you need it right now, please think about your favourite Joker(s) cancelling their plans to pop round to your place (whether you asked him to or he was just worried about you) maybe with a shiny gift to help cheer you up. Is it takeout (with a milkshake)? A nice bottle of wine to help you unwind? Some far-too-expensive soaps and bath bombs? A novel you've been looking for? Some fluffy socks for winter?

Maybe he puts some music on and helps you complete some of the stressful jobs you've been putting off, then runs you a bath and changes your bedsheets and finds a list of movies for you to choose from. Not that you're going to watch it - you'll be too busy telling him about everything that's been going on.

It's enough that he holds you while you talk, letting you feel safe and warm against his body as he listens, punctuating your therapy with kisses on the top of your head and stroking your arm and letting you listen to his heart beat through his chest.

It's getting late.

Jan earned Nace’s full trust after Jan helped him deal with a sensory overload makes me so happy. Sensory overloads are hell to live through and the way someone tries to help/deal with it is says a lot about the them as a person.

really wanted to put in a meltdown scene with Jan because Nace has come to associate being overwhelmed with pain so I wanted to show the contrast to how patient and gentle Jan is compared to Maja. And that ofc was the gateway into Nace finally feeling safe enough to take off his shirt 👀 Nace especially has suffered so much in this fic so I had to write about him realizing he's finally in a healthy happy relationship 🥲

Fun fact I was always intending to circle back to IKEA from the very first chapter 🤭 Their meeting was too iconic the fic just had to end under similar circumstances

I don't have that many JO fics in my catalog but tbh to me Nace is always autistic in them lmao Jan too actually they're autism4autism to me. But it'd be fun to maybe write some more Nace centered fics in the future with scenarios that are specifically relatable to fellow autistics hehe
