She smiled, “Nice to meet you Luca, I’m Blix.” Her brow raised and she held up her hand, “whoa you’re a dad? Sorry that’s kind of rude. I just… didn’t take you for a dad.” She shrugged, “I don’t think I’m cut out for kids myself, too much of one to have one.”

Luca looked over towards the other and laughed. “It’s all good. We had her young so it makes sense to be surprised. She’s 5. I’ve been her dad longer then I could legally drink for.” He said with a laugh. “They aren’t for everybody, that’s for sure. There are plenty of times where I struggled to be a good parent...”

Blix smiled and gave a nod, “I understand I get like that too. Hopefully the battery didn’t completely shit out on me.” She chuckled before patting the table across from her. “I guess I could be nice though and offer you a seat.” She smiled, “since my cords are spread out everywhere.”

Luca moved to sit next to the other after leaning down and replugging her cord in. He offered his hand out with a smile. “I’m Luca.” He said and set the now half empty popcorn bucket on the table. “At least these things are refillable. I think my little girl would be sad if I didn’t come home with a full one.”

Blix was in the middle of a blog post when the plug was pulled and she was left with a black screen… and hours of unsaved work. Her brows popped up though at the sight in front of her and she got up to help him up. “sorry, sorry about that. I ugh… I couldn’t find a plug close enough. You need help? Are you okay?” She looked around at the split popcorn and couldn’t help but feel terrible. “I know that wasn’t cheap either. Movie Theater Popcorn never is.”

Luca looked over towards the person who owned the cable and waved her off. “It’s all good, my fault really. I should watch where I’m walking. I just get too caught up in my thoughts and then things like this happen.” He said and frowned slightly. “I’m sorry if I cost you any work or something.”

lizzie--taylor​

“I’m not supposed to say this…” Lizzie looked around them playfully,  as if checking to see if anyone was listening. “…but she my favorite student.” The blonde chuckled, fixing her hair. Internally, she cringed at her little act, hating how weird Luca made her. She blamed it on the way he made her heart glow and her stomach flip. His words caused a blush to cover her cheeks, though she tried to hide it. 

“It’s a bonus for me too.” She grinned, reaching over and placing her hand on his forearm and giving it a squeeze. “Well, now I’m just going to have to do it. I need to see that shade of red. You know there is a parent/child dance for the recital, right?”

“You’re secret is safe with me.” Luca whispered with a grin. “O-oh...I uh..don’t think anybody wants to see me dance.” He said, feelings his cheeks doing exactly what he said they would do and started to turn a very bright red. He looked over towards Lizzie as he composed himself. “I don’t think this is very professional or anything but I was wondering if you wanted to maybe go get some dinner or something?”

Luca didn’t get a lot of time away from Hannah, but he liked to try and do something when he did have some time. He loved his daughter but everybody needed some adult time, which included going to see a movie with more than a g rating and that is where he was at that moment. He had just gotten out of a movie and had his tub of popcorn with him as he left the theater. He loved taking the popcorn home with him as there was something special about movie theater popcorn plus Hannah would throw a fit if he didn’t bring at least a handful with him when he got home. He wasn’t looking where he was going and he felt himself tripping over a cord that was laying across the floor and he ended up on the floor, popcorn everywhere. “Oh come on....” He said as he pulled himself up from the floor.

lizzie--taylor​

Lizzie stepped into the dance studio, dropping her bad by the front of the door as one of her students ran up to her. “Hey muchkin! Ready to have some fun?” She asked, giggling as the little girl nodding excitedly. “Okay, have your mama help you put on her shoes and we can get started.” She watched as Lizzie, or her mini-me as she liked to call her, ran over to where Jessie was standing. The class slowly began to file in and Lizzie sat down on the floor, tying up her own shoes and though she technically didn’t need them because this was her youngest class, she still wore them. It made her look like a real ballerina as one of her students said to her once. 

Her attention perked up when she saw Luca come in. She knew him from dance class but she also was his daughter’s daycare teacher so they saw each other more often than not. She often wondered his story. Lizzie never saw him with Hannah’s mom and though she heard rumors, she tried to put little mind to those. Standing up, Lizzie went to approach Luca to say hi and say hi to the rest of the moms but as she got close, he bumped into her, trying to get his daughter. “Oh don’t worry! That was my fault.” She laughed, moving a stray hair from her face. “Hi Hannah,” The little girl waved at her and Lizzie smiled, giving her a high five before rising to her full height again. “She has so much fun here, doesn’t she?” Lizzie asked Luca, her eyes watching as his daughter ran around the studio with a couple of the other girls. 

Luca would be lying if he said he didn’t look forward to ballet classes and day care drop offs and pick ups. Ever since his wife had passed he hadn’t dated anybody or even so much as looked at another woman. That was, until he met Lizzie. He thought she was one of the world’s most beautiful women but he knew he probably could never ask her out, fearing it would be inappropriate and he also wasn’t sure if he was fully ready or not. Ever since losing Hannah’s mom, he had struggled to move on and now Hannah was old enough to ask questions and understand everything and anyone who came into their lives.

“She does. I think this may be her favorite place to come. Doesn’t hurt that she really likes you too.” Luca said with a smile on his face as Hannah ran off to see her friends. He shoved his hands in his pockets, feeling the butterflies start fluttering in his stomach. He was never really super smooth when it came to ladies, but he was extra awkward around Lizzie. “Plus it gives me another excuse to come and hang out with you so, it’s a bonus for all involved. Though if you ask me to put on ballet shoes and perform with all the other moms here, you might see a pretty shade of red.”

Luca looked down at his two year old daughter Hannah and he couldn’t help but smile. It had been just the two of them ever since she was born. Her mom, Sarah, had passed from cancer right after their daughter was born and Luca had no idea what he was supposed to do. The first three months consisted of Luca crying over Sarah, over Hannah not sleeping, about how he was supposed to do this on his own. It was never supposed to be just him. He was supposed to have help with raising a child. Eventually, he had figured it out and he thought he was doing an okay job, even without knowing that much about girls.

Running around the house, Luca was trying to get all of Hannah’s things for her dance class. They were only a bunch of two years olds who mainly ran around the room following their teacher but she loved it and she got to see her friends so Luca went along with it. He finally found her ballet shoes and then got Hannah from her room who was already in her little onesie and tutu and he couldn’t help but smile as she jumped off her bed and ran out to their car, Luca following behind her as he locked the house and put her stuff in the car before getting her into her carseat. 

Once they got to the dance studio, Luca got Hannah out and took her inside, watching as she ran up and hugged her friends. He went to the other parents and waited with them, making small talk, not caring that he was the only father of the bunch, even if it meant being the only dad on the dance floor when it was time for the parent/kid dance session that ended the lesson. He went to take Hannah’s hand when she pulled away to run to her friend. Luca had turned to go after her when he ran into her teacher. “I’m so sorry!”
