Keys Strings and a Band of Kings Tour
currently in the tour van, heading to Schenectady for the 3rd stop on our Keys, Strings and a Band Of Kings Tour with Brendan James and his band. to say it's been a great run so far is putting it mildly. even after only 2 shows it's pretty clear that this is hands-down one of the most fulfilling shows I've ever been a part of. by putting our heads together, melding our bands (and ultimately our styles) together, Brendan and I, along with this amazingly talented group of musicians, have managed to create something truly special. I won't spoil things for those of you who have yet to catch a show, rather I'll treat this as an opportunity to say if it is at ALL in the cards for you to make it out to see us share the stage together, please do what you have to to make it happen. you won't be disappointed. I promise.
still can't get over the fact that I can type this and post it from a vehicle on the interstate, moving at roughly 70 miles an hour. guys. it's still amazing. probably always will be.
much love. lookin' forward to seeing you!

My wife's from MO, I'm from MI. We met in CA. Built this today to celebrate US.
Got tweeted at by my friends at Southwest after dogging on my not-so-friends at American. I feel I've arrived.

what a pleasure...
just got home from a week and a half out on the Honda Civic Tour with Maroon 5 and Kelly Clarkson. man, what a ride! it's amazing how much life you can squeeze into such a short period of time. there's something so unique about not only seeing the inner workings of a tour that size but as well, getting to know all the wonderful people that make it all possible. truth is, we only got about 22 minutes on stage each night to play music for people. not complaining, just pointing out the fact that the majority of our time was spent hanging out backstage, getting to know folks and enjoying their company. everyone from the truck drivers to the production crew, the kind and generous folks from Honda Civic to all the local stage hands that helped us get our shit on and off the stage every night, were truly some of the coolest people we've had the pleasure of meeting yet.
clearly, a very big "Thank You" goes out to Adam and the fellas from Maroon 5 for having us out with them. it was more than an honor to share the stage with both them and Kelly Clarkson. personally, I had a blast watching my band soak up the opportunity to get to know members of both Maroon 5 and Kelly's band, swapping contact info, geeking out on gear and whatnot. it was awesome. obviously, getting some time in with Adam, away from the Voice stage and out on the open road, couldn't have been any cooler. seriously, it was a great little run. only wish it could've lasted longer.
and of course, to those of you who made it out, what can I say. Thank you for coming out and showing your support. we were thrilled to play for you!
plenty more club dates to come. stay tuned and hopefully we'll see you out there somewhere.
cheers, y'all!

had to be there
tonight we're driving up to North Carolina from Florida, heading into the home stretch of the tour. a stretch that includes 8 shows in 6 days! crazy. I promised myself I was going to try to blog more this time around. obviously, that's not been the case. and it's funny, the shows themselves stand alone in my memory. the venues, the crowds, the performances, I can pretty much recall all of them very distinctly. unfortunately, it's the little moments that slip away when you're not looking. the truck stops, the random people, the hotel check-in clerks at 3am. there are so many little anecdotes that would be so worth sharing and reflecting on. sadly though, like dreams, they evaporate in the telling. unless you stay right on top of it and make the effort to jot them down (or type them up, rather?) you really stand no chance of expressing what really happened. as they say, you kind of had to be there. a poor consolation, I know. regardless, the tour has been going really well. we've been having a ton of fun. with the addition of a fourth band member and proper tour manager, I've been able to enjoy myself in a way that's extremely freeing. Steve, Mic, Nick and Erin couldn't be easier to work with and the fellas from Honor By August are a blast to share the tour with. we've been having a ball wreaking havoc on each other's camps via a flurry of pranks and inane shenanigans. but again, you kind of had to be there. ;)
thanks for tuning in. hope to see you out there soon!
