look. spirk went canon for the first time when spock went into heat and they fucked wrestled on vulcan and spock's heat broke even though jim only faked his death. then they got divorced and spock tried to purge all emotion from his body. then spock realized that jim is his soulmate and feelings are good actually and they held hands which is vulcan for kissing and spirk went canon a second time. then spock died and they had to regrow his body and put his soul back in it and he had to relearn all his memories and finally he remembered jim and spirk went canon a third time. then they were married for a while and saved some whales, met god, had to deal with spock's terrorist cult-leader brother, space chernobyl happened and the soviet union the klingon empire fell and jim was framed for murder and spock had to find the real killer. then jim got sucked into another dimension and died (don't @ me i refuse to even watch this one) and spock got zapped into an alternate universe where he didn't know anyone and had to play spiritual guide to chris pine and zachary quinto. and NOW, thanks to executive producer bill fucking shatner, old jim got to meet even older spock on the astral plane one last time and DOUBLE HELD HANDS which we can only conclude is vulcan making out with tongue. so yes, for a fourth time, spirk has gone canon

As a European, I knew Americans have been asking for walkable cities but i had no idea it was literally this hostile

Its to the point where most Americans can’t conceive of a walkable community because everywhere is like this and several generations have now grown up in a world like this. There’s hardly anyone that can conceive of a world that isn’t like this. Most people either cave in and get a car or end up isolated. I live in a city that’s mostly walkable by North American standards and I still end up walking in the dirt on the edge of a stroad a lot of the time.

In the village I grew up in there aren't any sidewalks except the very center of the village and no bike paths at all. To get to the high school I went to from my (rural out in the corn fields) house takes 1 hour to walk and 20 minutes to bike (on the main street without bike paths mind you) and no public transportation in my village. It is a 5 minute drive. You can only get to my school from where I live with a car. That is the only feasible way. Unless you want to ride on a road full of cars on a bike with your backpack and any school stuff you need with you for 20 minutes over hills and through woodland with no area to pull your bike to the side safely or easily look for oncoming cars.

In my suburban town, I can see the entrance to the nature preserve from the entrance to my housing development. It would be a 5 minute walk- if it were walkable.

But there's no sidewalk along the road and no crosswalk at the intersection, so the only way to go to the nature preserve is to drive. Its 0.3 miles away from me but death defying to try to walk.
