"Well, it better be pretty. I just want her to look perfect…not that she doesn’t always look perfect but you know. I…just…..special? I’m never gonna see her all made up like that again in a dress. I’m excited for it."
"So am I, darlin'," Lucy nods, chuckling lightly. "Last time she was all dolled up like that was at prom and she was five months pregnant."
"Maybe we’ll just all go at the same time, yeah? Then me and Nell just have to be careful so we don’t see each other….I wonder what kind of dress she wants, though. I think I want some big poofy dress. Look like a cupcake."
"I can't see Nelly in nothin' fancy. She ain't never been much of a fan of dresses ever since she was li'l. Formal shit's the only time she ever wears 'em and they ain't never nothin', y'know, unique or whatever. She's pro'ly got some idea what she's gon' wanna look for though."
"But then one of us doesn’t get to see the other one walk in. I dunno…..we still have to go wedding dress shopping sometime. Haven’t figured that out. I don’t wanna see her in it until the wedding, and I don’t think she wants to see me either. But I wanted to go together to make sure our dresses at least kind of go together."
"Take somebody with ya. I mean, I'll come if y'want, and I'm pretty sure Cady'd love to. And you got a sister, right? Plenty of people to choose from. Y'both gonna look beautiful-- I mean, y'already are, both of ya, stunnin', but y'know what I mean."
“Another kid? I’ve missed so much… — Wow,” Alek just about scoffs. “You’re not… angry at me? I mean, for just about disappearing?”
"No, no, I'm just glad y'doin' okay," Lucy says, shaking her head. "And, hey, I didn't try gettin' in touch just a little as you didn't, so we're both part of the guilty party-- it's totally fine. You've been gettin' better, I've been... bein' a ma-- it's cool. Y'should come by, meet the new addition. She's a Goddamn sweetheart, Alek, oh my God."
Amelia gives a laugh along with her. “I think I can wait a little longer if it means doing it right. We’re gonna have the perfect wedding. But we haven’t talked about the details like whose walking her down…..you both could probably do it….I dunno how we’re both gonna walk down the aisle though. We’ll have to figure it out.
"Guess y'could just go one after the other? But I'mma leave all of that up to the two of ya-- ain't my place to butt in. But y'want any help with anythin', y'say the word, yeah?"
"No, not yet. We, uhm, were thinking six to nine months after we move…..I was thinking the winter or spring…..I dunno. Too far away though, that’s for sure. Can’t wait to be married to her."
"Could always just book it to Vegas for a night," Lucy suggests, laughing a moment later. "Don't do that, I'd never forgive ya. Then I don't get to argue with Lon over who gets to walk Nelly down the aisle, and then I don't win and get to do it."
It feels like he hasn’t spoken to her in in decades. “Wow— yeah, I bet. How’re the kids doing? Haven’t seen them since… —” they were babies. Christ. “Man, I feel so out of it.”
"They're almost four, yeah," she laughs. "Doin' real great though. They also got a little sister now as well. She's two in November."
"So. You guys decided when this weddin's gon' be yet?"
The embrace he finds himself pulled into calls for a firm reciprocation of the gesture. “I'm so sorry— Luce, I didn’t mean to just drop off the radar. Things just got really… bad and— never mind it. I’m a bit better now,” so he gives with a minimal laugh before pulling away, hands still resting upon either shoulder. “How are you doing?”
"I'm good! I'm... really good, actually," Lucy replies, nodding her head. "Been busy, y'know, with ma stuff, but it's the great kinda busy. Wouldn't change a thing. But, hey, I'm sorry to hear y'weren't doin' so good-- glad to hear y'doin' better though!"

It’s been… a while since he’s last seen Lucy. “——— Luce?”
"Holy shit!" is really the only thing that Lucy manages for a little while, and while it's passing, she pulls him into a probably-too-tight hug. "How're y'doin', oh my God!"
My mom’s in there. What’s happening?

Sky looks back at the photo, then to Nell, and finally to Lucy - sharing the redheads expression. There’s more of them? More importantly, the one the women had found had a family?
“Can you show your mama n me, Nelliphant?"
Nell nods and points in the direction of the fenced-off pond from where she sits on her mother's hip and Lucy heads off toward the gate. And sure enough, there's more of... whatever the things are in the back corner.
"See!" "Yeah, I do. What did Poppa say, huh? He know what they were or not?" "No. But we gotta leave 'em, he said."
Lucy turns to Sky again.
"Guess we should move that other one? Put it back over here with the others?"
“I can see that. Hopefully you don’t got sticky fingers when you come to my house—”
"Ain't like I do it often no more, Shelly. I got kids to be an example to. And I like ya, so your stuff's safe."
