Jay frowned, watching her continue to use his gameboy. It had to be his, there was nowhere else it could be. âYou know itâs not.â He grumbled, looking around the room again in an attempt to occupy himself, but he was struggling to do it. âYou know I need that back, right? Iâve got a class later that I need to distract myself in.â He could just skip it, but skiving wasnât quite so easy when your dad was part of the faculty. âWhy do you think dad wanted to work here? To keep an eye on us?â
Lucy groaned, leaning her head back against the wall. âUgh, fine, you can have your stupid game back,â she muttered, tossing it gently onto the duvet, close to where her desk was set up. It was almost dead anyway. At his question, she rolled her eyes. âOf course thatâs why he took the job here. Heâd be bored back home,â she added, thinking of the countless meetings their aunt and lords had been holding as of late. She also considered the fact that them both leaving would only add to his loneliness, but she decided to leave that out. She didnât want to think about that.Â

Jay tipped his head back with a long groan that turned into a sigh. âFine, god.â He kicked his feet off her bed and sat up, lethargically pushing himself up and off the bed and finding his way to the chair sheâd allowed him to use. He plopped down and sighed again, it wasnât as comfortable as the bed. âAre you gonna give me my gameboy back or what?âÂ
Lucy watched in mild amusement as he got up, proud that her threat of labor worked on him. That was something she could almost always count on. âI donât have your gameboy,â she replied, picking up the device and starting another round. âMust be in your room somewhere,â she commented, swerving to avoid a shell that had been tossed. Luce grinned up at him as she passed the finish line to start the next round.Â

Jay looked over when she tried to simmer him, then towards the chair with a jumper hanging over it. âYou stole my clothes? Shouldnât you have a boyfriend to do that to?â He questioned, not exactly happy about either option there. âOh come on, donât be so fussy! Whatâs the big deal? Itâs just a bed.â Jay rolled onto his side, flashing her a smile. âReagan wont mind. Sheâs not one to get annoyed.â
Reagan set her eyes on him, a frown taking form over her brow. âIf you are on that bed a minute longer, youâre going to be responsible for laundering her bedspread and sheets, and probably building her a new bed. Get your ass up, Jay,â she muttered, leaning back into her pillows.Â

âWas it the whole town? I didnât really notice.â He pulled a face and shrugged it off, never having been the most observant. Besides, heâd not wanted to go out anyway, nor had he opened the curtains. âBut that sandwich was important, I was gonna have such a good pre-dinner meal and he totally fucked me over.â He grumbled, shaking his head.Â
Lucy rolled her eyes at Jay. It was just the typical caveman in him; ignore the rest of the world and only pay attention to what pertains to him, and even then... Luce chuckled at Reaganâs reply, and then looked back up. âAlright, Dagwood, settle down,â she laughed, and then pointed to her desk chair which had one of his sweatshirts hanging over the back of. âOh, I borrowed that the other day; you can take it back with you; and under it is the one place youâre allowed to sit in our room,â she added, making a pointed look at Reaganâs bed.

Jay tucked his arm under his head for support, using the other to itch his chest. âWas it the same guy that robbed the deli? Stole a sandwich, legend.â He laughed and shrugged his shoulders, it was the extent of his crime knowledge in this town, he didnât really take much in when he did find himself out of his own house.
Lucy laughed and shrugged. âI donât know; the whole town frozen over with snow was nothing compared to the great sandwich heist. Donât know if he couldâve pulled off something with such finesse.â She replied, pulling her phone back up to read Reaganâs reply.

âDonât limit yourself.â He told her, it was easy for her to hold herself back to stay within otherâs levels, and he wanted more than that for her. âYou know itâs true, I have a certain charm.â He teased, knowing it had always mostly been the title, which had never swayed Reagan, and he doubted it would sway many here either, there were too many with fancy names for it to work. âI dunno, I guess the world is still getting over that snow thing, like a car, it takes a while to warm up.â
Lucy rolled her eyes at his first comment, and threw him daggers with her eyes at the second, before giving in and laughing. She wanted to throw some more playful insults, but didnât feel like bringing him down. âI guess. You heard about that guy that apparently was responsible for it?â She asked conversationally, turning the gameboy off and turning to lean against her wall to face him.

âOh yeah? And what courses would those be?â He couldnât really imagine Reagan taking anything seriously, other than perhaps how she did her hair in the morning. He rolled his head to look at her, grinning for the camera though she mightâve already taken the photo. âYâthink? Maybe with all the anger itâll awaken the sexual desire for me sheâs kept bottled up all these years.â
âI donât know, weâll have to sit down and plan them out,â she muttered, feeling his judgement from across the room. Lucy groaned at his comment and shook her head. âDonât be gross, Jay. If you can handle that for five minutes,â she hurled back, typing out âdonât look now, but...â as a caption and sent it to Reagan. âWhy is it still so cold? Itâs spring, isnât it supposed to be warm now?â

Christine jolted at the touch but watched in silence as the other girl walked around the room. âI doubt it.â she finally sighed, forcing herself to take a step into the destroyed room. âI spentâŠa lot of time paintingâŠthese. And those sketchesâŠover by the window. Theyâre..shredded.â With a frown, she wandered over to a torn painting and gently touched it with a finger. âI have toâŠstart over again.â
Lucy tightened her mouth, offering a sympathetic grimace, and picked up a few shredded papers and shuffled them together. An idea flickered in her head; she didnât know this girl, but seeing as she was an artist, she felt the urge to share. âYou know, itâd be really cool if you made a collage out of these. Maybe modge podge the pieces together on some wood, or another canvas?â Luce suggested; she wondered if the girl was going to save the scraps or toss them; if the latter, she might ask to recycle them for a project.

Jay frowned at her protest, certain that he was right and sheâd taken it. Sure his bedroom was a mess and you couldnât find the floor for trying, but he had a hunch, or at least he was hoping. âOi!â He whipped his head back around to her from Reaganâs side of the room, âI heard that! I knew you nicked it, cheeky sod.â He grumbled, unwilling to go and snatch it back from her and instead went and lay back on Reaganâs bed.
Lucy grinned over the device, only to cock a brow at him laying on Reaganâs bed. âIâll give it back; itâs been so boring around here. Next term Iâm setting up my schedule to match Riâs,â she commented, groaning as Mario was defeated. She dropped the gameboy onto her stomach and pulled her phone off her stand and snapped a picture of Jay laying on her roomieâs bed. âSheâs gonna kill you,â she giggled, getting ready to send it to her on snapchat.

Jay knocked lazily on his sisterâs dorm door and as soon as the door opened, walked inside. âLuc, you got my gameboy in here?â He asked, peering around the shared room. Heâd not been inside Lucy and Reaganâs room before and was interested to see how theyâd decorated it. It didnât quite look like the little girlâs room back in Scotland. âI know you like to steal it when you get bored.â He commented, something he always said when he lost things, âLucy took itâ.Â
Lucy was snuggled up in bed playing Super Mario Land on Jayâs gameboy. Sheâd lifted it the last time sheâd stopped by the apartment, and was quite content until her brother interrupted her game. âI donât have your stupid game,â she responded, only to hit the volume button up by accident instead of down. She quickly remedied this, but there was no way he couldâve missed the jump in sound. âAlways blaming me for you losing your shit,â she added, bouncing on a villain onscreen.Â

âSomeone destroyed it.â Christine replied, tears slowly beginning to slide down her cheeks. âI workedâŠso hard onâŠall of those paintings. And someone justâŠdestroyed it.â she swallowed, feeling her body begin to shake. She had no idea who had done it but was guessing that it was Oliverâs work. Perhaps this was his way of reminding her that he was always able to hurt her. As if she could forget. âI shouldâŠclean it up.âÂ
Lucyâs eyes widened slightly as the girl started to cry, and looked ahead into the room instead of at her. Crying people always made her uncomfortable. Most of her mind told her to just go and find somewhere else to sketch, but a small, nagging part of her told her to stick around. âIâll help you; maybe you can salvage something,â Lucy gently patted the girlâs shoulder before sliding around her to enter the room and flicked the lights on. Shit. The whole room was a disaster; she set her art kit on the counter and scratched the back of her neck. The redhead turned a chair over and stood it back upright and pushed it into a desk.Â

As soon as Christine heard that it was okay to leave her dorm room, she grabbed her backpack and raced towards the small art room she favored. It was the first time she was going to be skipping class but she didnât care all that much. The sun was shinning and she was tired of being confined to one room. She wanted to grab her easel and set up outside in the gardens. A smile was on her face as she opened the door to the room, only for it to disappear as she froze.
The room was destroyed. Or, the room itself was fine but all of the paintings inside were destroyed. She felt her fists ball at her sides as tears sprung to her eyes. All of her work was ruined.Â
Lucy spent most of her art making time in her own room, but since the snow had let up and started melting, she wanted to get out. Dressed in leggings, a slouch beanie, and an oversized sweatshirt sheâd stolen from Jay, Luce made her way to the art room, her art kit tucked under her arm. She headed down the path, kicking a piece of slush out of the way, and smiled up at the sun which beamed down with such an intensity as if to make up for being away. She made her way into the building and was about to turn into the art room, but stopped behind the girl in the doorway. âJeez, what the hell happened in here?â She asked, cocking her head slightly while taking in the damage.Â

âExactly, when does spring start?!â Reagan sighed, pulled her hair round to one shoulder, and pouted like the worldâs weather ought to obey her wishes. She was a summer babe, she wanted to tan and play frisbee on the beach, not cover every inch of herself in ten layers to stay mildly warm. âYou have to, I donât know if I can stay in here all day without a little help. I mean, you can paint and that, but Iâve not got much in the way of indoor hobbies.â Reagan preferred her cheerleading and dancing and even running.
âWe should go away for spring break; what do Americans do for spring break anyway? Cancun? That seems so cliche but Iâd do anything,â she sighed, and started tapping away. âJay, can you come to my dorm? Weâre having an emergency. Text if you can make it, but please be able to, itâs a mega emergency,â she spoke out the words as she typed them, and then hit send with a laugh.

Reagan watched as she edited the photo and added a caption, reading it over her shoulder. âItâs so true.â She agreed, flicking her hair over her shoulder. âAnd everyone out there is gonna be wishing they could experience us doing bad well.â She wiggled her brows, crawled to her bedside table and picked her own phone up. Reagan quickly went onto her own instagram to like the photo and comment a few emojis that summed up her feelings for Lucy. âSo what do we do today then?â
Lucy flopped back onto Reaganâs pillows, reaching a little under her shirt to scratch an itch over her belly button. âOh, I donât know. Iâm so sick of this snow; itâs like, enough already!â Luce groaned, holding her phone up to skim through the ten notifications their photo had already garnered. A small part of her wanted to get bundled up and go outside, but she didnât want to suggest it; that part of her was an old part, and she doubted that Reagan would want to go on an outdoor adventure. The redhead opened her messages and paused. âShould I message Jay about drinks? Because Iâm already wanting one, and it looks like the weather can only get worse.â

Reagan faked a gag, sticking her tongue out before a slight smile. âSuperscum,â She mused, a smile of self indulgent satisfaction for what she considered a catchy name for his mutant dirt. âWho wouldnât?â Rey agreed, taking the phone to look closer at the picture. âWeâre so cute, this oneâs perfect.â She liked how happy they looked, they were the girls youâd look at and wish you had their lives. She clicked into instagram and started to upload it, handing it back to Luce for her to do a caption.Â
Lucy smirked; she didnât like many people, but she loved Reagan. The two girls were a little self centered, but they knew how to make the other feel good about themselves. She scrolled through the filters and put one on before captioning it bad girls do it well. âI donât know,â she laughed, and then looked at Reagan. âBut itâs true,â she winked, tagging her friend and posting it with a ton of hashtags.

Reagan pulled a face of disgust, shaking her head. âProbably not. I feel like heâd need an industrial chemical bath.â She didnât understand him, he was a handsome guy, but he seemed to aim to be the most disgusting version of himself. âYouâre awful, and I love it and you know Iâm so in whenever you mess with him.â The blonde moved back to sit against the wall when Lucy joined her, leaning in to look at the photos of herself. "Itâs stupid how good we look, even when weâre wasted. Letâs post one on instagram.â
Lucy laughed, shaking her head. âThe dirt on him alone would probably obtain super powers from a chemical bath,â she commented in monotone, swiping through some of the photos. âRight? Iâd totally have a threeway with us,â she added with a laugh. âHow about this one?â She asked, handing the phone to Reagan with another laugh; the photo was the two of them midlaugh and slightly blurred.
