Whenever someone interacts with 'Playback' at the Phoenix, the results are shared to our Facebook page. Head over to see what people have made:

Building Playback
Most of the hard work with this commission had been done over the last few weeks / months, starting with our residency at the Phoenix in August where much of the concept was designed.
We decided quite early on to produce a series of works for this commission. We wanted to produce something that was broadly representative of the wide range of purposes that the venue serves, acknowledging the different potential audiences for the work. We were also keen to produce experiences that injected a little fun into the space, with a relatively short time frame for engagement; the video wall is immediately next to the bar and can get busy in the evenings. We've dabbled with various concepts for how each of the pieces might be achieved, but always with three themes:
Create
Consume
Share.
Today's build was mostly about the physical install in the space, mounting the cameras, installing vinyls on the floor to help the audience engage, and calibrating systems to the specific lighting and depth conditions.
Images from Multiscale
Produced for the Turing Centenary and inspired by Alan Turing's work on Morphogenesis, 'Multiscale' was commissioned for the Blinc Digital Arts Festival, Conwy, Wales.
Exploring patterns in nature, particularly phyllotactic spirals and cyclic symmetry, the audience create and grow enormous coloured shapes projected on the walls of the historic Conwy Castle.
We travelled last week to Conwy for a research and development trip ahead of our commission for the Blinc Digital Arts festival at the end of October. Great to get a feel for the town and its environs. Lots of potential, perhaps too much.

After a morning of chatting with local creatives based in and around the Phoenix we set to trying out a few Kinect controlled concepts for the video wall in the cafe bar.

A few snaps from our first day in residency at Phoenix digital arts centre in Leicester.
It is Day 1 of our week long residency at Phoenix digital arts in Leicester. Sitting in the cafe over our first coffee of the day, I have a quick chat with Chris Tyrer from Phoenix about the whats and wheres of this great venue.
PlayBack - a residency at Phoenix Square, Leicester
Ludic Rooms will be in residency at Phoenix Square week commencing August 6th exploring urban play spaces and the interaction between physical objects and the digital world.
Our residency will result in an exciting digital arts installation later in the year.

Playing #enactcov by @jondle.
Jon followed a few teams playing Enact at the weekend. If you wondering what the experience is like, hopefully this answers a few questions.
