I thought I wouldn't be able to make it to celebrate the end of finals, but here it is!

Some favorite lines with no context:

Sunken hopes in a cup of merry accompanied by the type of loneliness that’s only accomplishable in a crowd.

Silence is too violent a thing to bear, so the clutter of thought bolstered itself into a barrier.

This church lurches in his heart like a ship at sea, but it erects itself like a mountain for his parents. He doubts a single thing has changed for all 11 years since then.

Maybe that’s why Mother and Father only take him to falling churches and this poor graveyard. He wouldn’t know, for while he bears a burdened name, it affords him no insight.

The statue looks so lonely cast in smoke and dirt. Its form remains unchipped and wondrous, but it lords over nothing. He feels like it deserves someone at least to lend an ear and keep it company.

“No, tragedies only seem appealing from afar, writ on paper and bound between leather.” Sky agrees. “But reality often surprises us with tales born anew. Very few know the true impact of such tales.”

ah...hi not my proudest chapter by far, but the writing process was so fragmented I hardly feel bad about it. Honestly, it was just a hard write, so I'm happy with it. Anyway, Wild scene!

I've decided I'm posting a chapter Friday. Actually, I think I may be able to post for the next 2 weeks afterwards. I decided to edit through, and I surprisingly do have a complete chapter. We'll have to see how the other 2 decide to handle themselves tho.

I'm also in such a rut right now. I'm just stuck with bridging my ideas, and I'm such a sequential writer that skipping scenes isn't much of an option. I'm trying though. I'm thinking about getting a chapter or two finalized to post soon. No promises though since I haven't edited a single sentence

Couple random thoughts from random points

New parts:

I love new parts! There’s something relieving about having a reset. Lot of the world building resets, so I can just spit out whatever. Figuring worldbuilding out is my happy place too. I write much better when I’m still figuring things out (though it’s harder to decide the plot.) Somehow it just makes things so much less stressful.

Unfortunately, it inevitably provides the conflict of not knowing where the story is going anymore. I find worldbuilding, themes, and mechanics are nearly impossible to put into a story. It’s so easy and fun to figure it all out, but words? Ha! Nope! It’s so hard finding a starting place or even a coherent plot to thread everything together.

Doubts:

I made a few...questionable choices. Maybe for storytelling in general and for my capability to tell it. Unfortunately, keeping has never been in doubt. I'll share more in 3 chaps.

Challenges:

I set out to emphasis a bit more of the loop's worldbuilding in a meaningfil way. Tried adding a 'mystery.' Tried adding religous tones to Sky's pov. Of which I have no experience. Struggled coming up with scenes to come before ___, and I sadly need those scenes.

This week:

Oh, this week...Well, to start my laptop charger broke Friday, and I'm a CIS major...managable because the charger was meant to arrive Sunday-Monday-Wednesday? Oh, dad ordered the wrong one...That's fine. I'd borrow a charger if it wasn't fairly exclusive. Can't rent a campus laptop since they don't come with required apps, and won't let you download it. I just need to use lab machines with 8 hours of hwk left due Fri. Of which I am available 3 hrs. If I refuse to live a life maybe I can get 6 hrs. Because, I'm forced into the wardrobe crew for a class. (Not really a problem except I have NO time.) 5-12pm! For an entire week. Every other moment I'm literally in class. Maybe managable if I could do my coding at home. I'd just pull an all-nighter. Nope, lab machines. 7am-10pm. So...Yeah. Still figuring that out.

2 weeks.

I think I've reached the point where the beginning has stabilized enough that I'm willing to let it see the light of day. So I think I'll post a few chapters starting in 2 weeks.

other general rambles below:

Anyway I took a break for a few days this week. I felt really guilty about it, but I think it did me some good. I feel a lot less pressured about what I'm writing. Plus, it's let me detach just enough that I'm spitballing (which is my more creative state). It's probably not the most coherent or well written, but it's coming out again, and I like to think it's at least interesting.

Anyway. I've hit 'the point.' Yes that one. The one that no one other than me knows. (gasp in awe). It's one of my more...doubtable choices for the Part. I've thought it over a million times. I'm keeping it; that hasn't really been the question. It's just my implementation and the consequences of the decision. I think it'll be fine...

Finally, finally I finished the first draft of the first section. Took forever and about 17k words, but the 'prolouge' this Part is done. T-T

Now to get into the meat of it. This is also the part where I should decide whether to wait or not to post. I also now need to figure out how to write this next section...

I've decided to give up on the current chapter and return later. I'm hoping that I'm overthinking things.

The longest it ever took to find Wild was 17 minutes and 3 seconds. 

Don’t ask how Twilight knows this because he just does. He doesn’t think anything else in his life has been timed with such certainty. 

It’s not supposed to take this long. If it was, then one of the other times would’ve been the same. His cub’s supposed to be nearby. 

Why can’t Twilight find him? 

Has he already been taken?

Still haven't decided whether I'm going wait for the entire thing or start posting sections.

College has tenderized me. I'm thoroughly terrified. I think I have to many credit hours. I'm scared to see my future. I have a feeling writing during this semester is going to be a little slower than it has been historically. (Not that I've ever been fast) Also, one of my classes has a surprise 2 hr lab THAT WASN'T DISCLOSED. So...Yeah

Back to writing: Does anyone prefer a lot of chapters all at once or small chunks? I'm considering what my uploads are going to be like. I don't really have a preference when I'm writing this slow. I'll still group up sections; it's just a difference of 2 chapters or the entire part in like 2 months.

Uh...let me shut up.

Sneak peak (unedited as usual):

The four of them are scattered about a large charred building. The remains are a husk of charcoal stained stone and shattered wood. Melted glass shards line the walls and some misshapen lumps of once-melted common metal loiter around. The far side of the room is collapsed. A few stairs poke out of the rubble, implying the location was elevated slightly. In the midst of the mess, buried waist deep a pristine white statue of Hylia presides over everything. 

He notices then the dozen or so crumpled bouquets of flowers a few feet away from the statue's base. Their colors remain bright and fresh, even beneath the dust. They were clearly trampled recently, the footsteps still clear against the dirt and imprinted into the plant's soft flesh. He wonders what inconsiderate fool disrespected the offering. Alone and untrampled a single pink lotus rests against the statue.  

How odd, he thinks. It feels as if he’s dreamed of some distant gravesite. The fact that he’s only a dozen feet away doesn’t seem to register. 

-Just some vibes. I don't want to drop too much while I'm still so far behind. I really like it for some reason. I already have the next teaser picked out. (Feel free to tell me if my teasers are ever leaning too much into spoilers)

I've forgotten how to write the start of a loop. I'm not sure how much of the explaining and explicit discussion of the loops I need. I also am introducing Wild a little late this time (for reasons), but I'm not sure exactly how to write that. Explaining, new Link, dynamics, and finding Wild sure but that's theory not written. The explaining scenes are just the hardest. I fear they might be a little boring too, so I try to skip over the majority of it unless if it's new, specifically incitive, or otherwise not mindless hours of explaining. I think writing an explanation of the curse, the theories, and the history would literally take an entire 3 chapters. Boring!

Side note: I'm definitely taking more than 1 month off. I'm hardly through the 2nd chapter T-T. Darn it!

The bells rang, echoing through the halls. They resound with such power, it reverberates in Link's chest. Such power belittles the serenity of the room. It almost seems harsh, but the warmth of sunlight and holy praise dismisses that dissonance. Undisturbed murmurs of prayer and movement fill the moment, as others kneel within the holy hall. He’s not alone, but the respect of everyone provides complete privacy. The temple wouldn’t feel nearly as wonderful without the bustle. 

The bell rings a second time, marking the hour with unmistakable clarity.

Link took it as a sign for him to move on.
