Finally Home
Rick bounded up the steps and burst through the door. “Honey, I’m home!” he called out, and Luke slid from the living room into the kitchen, nearly taking Rick out. He barely had time to put dinner from the restaurant down before Luke was in his arms. Rick looked down and kissed Luke passionately, not able to contain the joy and excitement he felt. He literally had everything he wanted in that moment, and he couldn’t imagine anything more perfect than being greeted like this every day. “Hi,” he said, finally pulling away. “How are you?”
“Good but I missed you,” Luke said, kissing Rick’s cheeks. “Today has been so boring. I didn’t go out or do anything and I was lonely. How are you?”
“I’m good, but tired. You want dinner now, or can you wait til I’m done in the shower?” Rick asked, taking Luke’s hand and kissing across his knuckles.
“Mmm, go ahead and take a shower. The food can wait,” Luke said pulling his hand away from Rick’s. He smiled. “Welcome back home babe.”
“Hey,” Rick said, taking Luke’s hand. “Come with me?”
“I don’t know, maybe I should keep a safe distance until later,” Luke teased, pulling Rick into a tight embrace.
“Please,” Rick begged, fake pouting as he slowly guided Luke towards the bathroom. “Please?”
Luke smiled and gave in. “Alright. Can’t say no to you,” he said, kissing Rick lightly.
Rick grinned widely, loving the control that he still seemed to have over Luke, even after all this time. Rick kissed Luke back as he walked backwards to the bathroom. Once inside, he turned the water on, waiting for the heat to kick in. He pulled off his shirt, then moved to help Luke do the same.
Luke smiled shyly, unbuckling Rick’s pants. He looked up at Rick, and bumped his head with Rick’s on accident. “Ouch,” he said, letting out a small giggle.
“Babe,” Rick said, kissing where Luke’s head had bumped with his. He pulled down Luke’s pants and got in the shower, pulling Luke in with him.
Luke stepped into the shower carefully. “Be careful, I almost fell and cracked my head earlier today.”
“We should get one of those mat things. The grippy ones. That way you won’t slip anymore,” Rick said, getting out the shampoo and lathering up Luke’s hair.
“Mhm,” Luke mumbled in agreement, as he stuck his head under the shower to rinse off the shampoo. He reached for a loofah and some body wash to begin washing Rick. “Can’t say falling is one of my favourite activities to experience.”
“Yes, but you’re quite good at it,” Rick joked, smiling widely as Luke began to wash his skin clean.
"Took me years of practice you know. Can't get that good in a day," Luke said, scrunching up his nose.
Rick laughed, rinsing his body off. He stood a while longer, soaking up the hot water, his muscles relaxing under the stream.
Luke wrapped his arms and kissed Rick’s neck. “It’s so nice to be shorter than you. Gives me easier access to your neck,” Luke mumbled before leaving a small mark on his neck.”
“I like that you’re shorter than me too,” Rick said, his hands running up and down Luke’s back. He hummed in contentedness, but he loved being with Luke like this.
Luke smiled against Rick’s skin. “Maybe we should dry off and go eat. The food you brought is tempting me from the kitchen.”
“Okay,” Rick said, switching off the water and getting them both towels. He dried himself and pulled on a pair of sweats, then made his way to the kitchen.
Luke dried himself off and ran to their room to put on pyjamas. He walked into the kitchen and helped Rick with the food. “God, that shower made me tired.”
Rick served each of them and handed a plate to Luke. “Bed after this, but we need to eat.”
“Yay food,” Luke said, bringing the plate to the table. “You want something to drink?”
“Mmm, yes please. Milk, if we’ve got it.” Rick asked, setting their plates on the table and sitting down.
Luke poured Rick’s milk and poured his own glass of water. He sat at the table and smiled at Rick. “How was your day, love?”
“It was really good. I learned some better knife skills in class, and we did 200 covers at work today,” Rick said, cutting into his steak. “I’m glad to be busy again.”
Luke smiled widely. “That’s nice. Seems like tons of fun. I won’t be lazying around the house for much longer, my application got accepted at Waterstones, so I’ll be able to read and sell books all day soon.”
“That’s great babe!” Rick said, rubbing Luke’s back. “I’m so happy for you. I know you wanted that job. And I have just the thing to celebrate with,” Rick said, reaching into the bag from the restaurant. “How about lemon mousse cake, made by yours truly and leftover champagne?”
"Oh yes that'll be lovely!" Luke said. Luke reached over and squeezed Rick's hand. "I'm so happy that we can come home to each other now," Luke told him.
Rick leaned down and kissed Luke deeply. “I love coming home to you. To my fiance, to our home. God, I love you so much.”
“I’m so happy to come home to the love of my life. I love you to the moon and back.”
“That’s 768,784 kilometers. That’s a lot of love,” Rick replied, smiling back down at Luke. “You’re so perfect.”
“A lot of love for an amazing person.” Luke blushed slightly. “And I don’t think perfect is something I can own up to.”
“I think you’re just as amazing,” Rick said, taking a bite of his mashed potatoes. He looked up at Luke. “I think perfect is definitely something you should own up to.”
Luke’s cheeks became even more red and he looked down at his food. “I’ll try but I can’t guarantee anything.” He looked back up at Rick. “So, how have your classes been? Have you met anyone new yet?”
“I’ve met a couple new people, but no one truly interesting. Dimitri, Sarah and Ash are the only people I’ve really become friends with. What about you? Meet anyone cool?” Rick asked, clearing his plate.
“I met this kid Adam. He reminds me a lot of myself. Really quiet and all.” Luke cleared his plate as well before putting it in the sink. “But that’s really it. I’ve been too shy to talk to anyone.”
Rick moved to cut the cake as Luke talked about his new friend. “Babe, we’ve got to get you out of your shell. I love you, but your shyness is holding you back. You’re such a great person, and anyone would be lucky to be your friend.”
“Yeah, I guess. I’m really just afraid I’ll make a fool out of myself.” Luke shook his head. “I dunno, maybe being at Uni will help me break out of my shell.”
“Babe, you can’t make a fool of yourself. You just have to put yourself out there. If you put yourself out there, then people either like you for you, and if they don’t then fuck them. They aren’t worth your time anyways.”
Luke shrugged. “Yeah I guess. There are some cool people in my classes, I guess I’ll talk to them.” Luke stretched and yawned.
“I think that’s a great idea,” Rick said, smiling at Luke as he served them each a piece of cake and poured two glasses of champagne. “To our new home and new friends.”
Luke raised his glass. “To our new home and new friends,” he repeated. He took a sip of the champagne. “We’re tasting the stars.”
Rick smiled at the memory of their trip to Paris. “Such a good time. Such a good trip,” he said, looking at Luke. “Maybe we can take another trip during our school break.”
Luke grinned and nodded. “That would be great. A well deserved break after working so hard here.”
Rick grabbed Luke’s hand. “Hey, I never bought you your present!”
“My present? For what?” Luke asked. “I haven’t done anything big lately.”
“Remember, I promised you a car if you could carry me while I was hurt.”
“Right. But wouldn’t you like to test my ability to carry you again?” Luke said, raising an eyebrow and smirking.
“Are you insinuating that I’ve gained weight? Damnit, I knew these pants made my ass look big,” Rick said, turning around to look at his backside.
“I don’t know about big, but it does make it look really attractive. More than usual, I might say.”
Rick laughed, gawking at Luke’s sassiness. “You’re quite cheeky today,” he said, smiling proudly. “I think I’ve created a monster.”
“You say you’ve created a monster while smiling like an idiot.” Luke poked Rick. “I think monster is the opposite of what you’re really thinking.”
“That’s true. I’m quite proud of the Luke you’ve become. I fall more in love with him every day. But I’ll never forget my quiet, shy Lukey.”
“Little Lukey who stands in corners and plays Tetris?”
“Yeah. That’s the one. The one I fell in love with.”
“How could big party boy Rick ever fall in love with me?” Luke asked, cocking his head to the side.
“Hmmm,” Rick said, thinking. “Maybe it was this beautiful blonde hair,” Rick said, running his fingers through Luke’s silky strands. “Or those big, blue eyes. Or the most adorable smile I’ve ever seen. Or the way that you make me laugh, when no one else can. Or the way you get goosebumps any time I touch you,” Rick whispered, running a finger lightly up Luke’s arm. “Or maybe it’s how handsome you look when you’re making love to me,” Rick said, kissing Luke’s knuckles. “It could be any of those things,” Rick said, “but the real reason is because I realized that I can’t live without you. That when you’re around, I become a better person. That every time you look at me with those wonderful blue eyes, I think how amazing my life really is. You’re the reason that I’m here right now. You’re the reason that I’m human. You’ve made me the man am I today. I don’t know where I’d be if I’d never met you. And the thought of losing you scares me senseless.”
Luke took a deep breath and looked up at Rick. “I’ll be right back,” he squeaked, running into the room. He stayed there rummaging through all of his belonging, looking for a book to bring back to Rick. When he ran back to to the kitchen, he led Rick back to the table. “Sit please. I have story time.”
Rick watched Luke in a confused blur, watching his movement intently. “Okay…?”
“September 2nd 2011,” he began nervously. “I think I may love Rick. When I think about him, I get these butterflies in my stomach. And it isn’t the normal type. When I get close to him, i just want to touch him. With him I have a weird feeling. It’s all beautiful, so so beautiful. I want him to be mine, but in reality, I just want him to be happy. I don’t care about him being with me. Why would anyone like him, who was everything I wanted and everything I wasn’t, want me?” Luke looked up shakily before flipping the pages nervously.
“April 30th 2012. I am in love with Rick Knight. I’m in love with the way he moves, the way he acts. I’m in love with the way he smiles, and the way he has so much confidence. Rick, if you’re reading this, I want you to know I’ve liked you since I’ve met you. You’re kind, and our fights make every nice moment so much more special. Rick, you can be my summer love, my autumn love, my winter love, my year long love. Our would be an epic love story. We might not last forever, but we can make it last as long as we could. Hell, we might get married,” Luke smiled at Rick happily, “Or even just 5 hours. But I’ll never let you go again, because I love you in the purest sense.”
Rick looked up at Luke, tears flowing down his cheeks. “I love you. With everything that I am, with every fiber of my being, I love you. I love you when you’re mad at me and when you laugh at me, I love you when you’re sad and when you’re nervous. I love to hear your writing, and that you were in love with me as long as I was in love with you. Words will never be able to express, in any form or fashion, what you mean to me. The words simply don’t exist.”
Luke knelt down and kissed Rick. When he pulled away, he held his hands. "I love you Rick Knight. More than you can imagine."
Rick leaned down, kissing Luke gently, his hands winding through Luke’s hair. Gently massaging the nape of Luke’s neck, he whispered against Luke’s lips, “Can we go to bed now? Please?”
Luke nodded. “Of course babe,” he said, helping Rick up from the chair. As soon as Rick as steady, he swung down and picked his up bridal style. “Hmm, seems I still can carry you,” Luke whispered to Rick.
“Mmm, this is still really attractive,” Rick said, burying his face in Luke’s neck, laying kisses along it.
“Is it now? Mental note to do this more often then,” Luke said, smiling down at Rick. He pushed open the door to their room and walked over to the bed, laying Rick on it carefully.
Rick pulled Luke down, kissing him deeply. His hands ran over Luke’s chest and arms, gently squeezing and Luke’s muscles. “This is so hot.”
Luke rolled his eyes. “What is with you and muscles?” he laughed.
Rick laughed. “I don’t know. I just find them really attractive,” Rick said, smiling up at Luke. “You’re more attractive with them.”
Luke leaned down and kissed him. “Mmm, and so are you,” he said, poking Rick’s arm.
Rick pulled Luke’s body down against his, kissing him deeply. “I love you, I love you, I love you,” Rick repeated after every kiss.
Luke smiled and nuzzled his nose to Rick’s. “I love you so much more.”
Rick ran his hands down Luke’s sides, smiling widely as he grasped Luke’s hips. He rolled them over, so he was on top and pushed his hips into Luke’s, grinding them together. His head fell into the crook of Luke’s neck and he moaned Luke’s name.
Luke let out a moan as well, letting his hands glide down to Rick’s hips, pushing them down onto his own even more. Luke grinned up at Rick, seeing how he collapsed under his hands.
Rick look down at Luke, at his perfect face, wanting to kiss every inch of it. He cleared his throat, his eyes still locked on Luke’s. “Kiss me, beneath the milky twilight. Lead me, out on the moonlit floor. Lift your open hands, strike up the band and make the firefly’s dance, silver moon’s sparkling. So kiss me,” he sang gently, lips resting on Luke’s.
Luke smiled up at Rick and kissed him. “I love you so so much,” he murmured, before kissing Rick again.
Rick tugged at the hem of Luke’s shirt, pulling it off and over his head, trailing kisses down Luke’s torso. “Not as much as I love you.”
“Mm, are you sure you can prove that?” Luke said, running hands up and down Rick’s back.
“Are you asking me to?” Rick shot back, his lips hovering above the waistband of Luke’s pants.
Rick teased the skin there, then pull Luke’s pants down slowly, revealing him to Rick. He let his breath fan over Luke’s skin, watching Luke’s reaction. His tongue reached up and licked a stripe up Luke’s length before slowly taking Luke into his mouth.
Luke groaned and squirmed slightly. “Oh God, I’ve missed this,” he moaned, running his fingers through Rick’s hair.
Rick hummed in agreement, causing Luke’s hips to buck upwards, but Rick just took it in stride, enjoying the feel of Luke on the back of his throat.
“Oh fuck,” Luke moaned in pleasure, his hips bucking up again, searching for any type of pleasure. His hands gripped Rick’s hair a bit tighter, and his head was thrown back in the moment.
Rick continued bobbing his head, his tongue swirling around Luke as he reached the top. His hands grasped at Luke’s thighs, feeling himself grow hard just watching Luke above him.
Luke moaned louder than ever, his breathing becoming irregular and ragged. He felt Rick’s hands on his thighs, and he groaned at the feeling. His stomach clenched as he tried to hold himself in longer.
After Luke’s last moan, Rick couldn’t take it. He kissed his way back up Luke’s body, his lips landing on Luke’s as he shoved his boxers down. “I love you so much,” Rick said, steadying Luke’s hips as he prepared Luke for him.
“I love you too,” Luke whispered back. “So much more than you can imagine.” Luke groaned as he felt Rick’s tip at his entrance, wanting more contact.
Rick pushed in gently, his lips on Luke’s, moaning as he did. “Oh, God,” he breathed. “You feel amazing.”
Luke only moaned in response, running his hands up and down Rick’s back, leaving small scratched. “I’ve missed this so much,” he murmured into Rick’s ear, before kissing his neck.
“I’ve missed you,” Rick said, his thrusts long and strong, his arms supporting Luke’s back. “Fiance.
Luke smiled at the word. “Fiance. I’m yours,” he said, smiling up at Rick before a moan tore out of his throat.
Rick moans matched Luke’s and he buried his face in the crook of Luke’s neck, kissing the skin lightly, his fingertips digging into the skin of Luke’s back.
Luke hissed at the feeling of Rick’s fingers in his back. He looked up at Rick before grinding his hips on Rick, hoping to cause him more pleasure.
Rick groaned at the contact of Luke’s hips, his breathing becoming more shallow. He reached in between them and began to pump Luke, his eyes locked on the blue ones above him.
Luke felt his stomach clench up. “Rick,” he groaned, “I’m really close.”
“Together,” Rick moaned, thrusting harder and faster.
Luke nodded. With each of Rick’s thrusts, he felt himself get closer and closer. With a loud moan, he came, his hands clutching Rick’s hips harshly.
Rick felt Luke’s muscles tighten around him and Luke’s hands stilled his hips as he release himself into Luke, calling out his name. “Oh, babe,” he said, kissing Luke’s lips, nibbling on his bottom lip gently as he slid out and laid next to Luke.
Luke smiled at Rick, and kissed his cheek softly. “I love you,” he mumbled, cuddling into Rick’s side.
“I think I just proved that I love you more, just like I said I would,” Rick laughed, kissing Luke’s temple.
Luke rolled his eyes. “Yeah you did, but that doesn’t mean I can’t stop loving you. Unless you want me to,” he said, rolling over to the other side of the bed.
“Hey, get back over here, mister,” Rick said, moving next to Luke and tugging on his chin, making him look at Rick. “I never want you to stop loving me. I never want to stop loving you. I want to spend my life loving you. Because loving you is perfect.”
Luke smiled and kissed Rick. “Loving you has been the best thing that has happened to me.
Rick smiled, kissing Luke back. ”I thought I understood it, that I could grasp it. But I didn’t, not really. Only the smudgeness of it; the pink-slippered, all-containered, semi-precious eagerness of it. I didn’t realize it would sometimes be more than whole, that the wholeness was a rather luxurious idea. Because it’s the halves that halve you in half. I didn’t know, don’t know, about the in-between bits; the gory bits of you, and the gory bits of me.”
“You have bewitched me, body and soul, and I love, I love, I love you. I never wish to be parted from you from this day on,” Luke whispered back, turning around to look at Rick comfortably.
“I’m not going anywhere,” Rick whispered, pulling Luke tight into his arms.
Luke smiled and hugged Rick tightly. “Good. I can’t bare to have you away from me.”
Rick kissed a line down Luke’s jaw and back to his lips. “I can’t believe how lucky I am, to have found you.”
“I can’t believe how lucky I am that you were willing to try out a relationship with me,” Luke, pulling away from he hug to poke Rick in the arm.
“If I had known two years ago that I’d be in a relationship with you, I don’t think I would’ve been able to wrap my head around it. I mean, I never liked a guy before you,” Rick said, smiling at Luke.
Luke smiled back at Rick. “I don’t I would’ve been able to grasp the idea either. Despite being in relationships with girls that ended terribly, I never thought I would be in a relationship other than one with girl.”
“It’s weird, but… you’re perfect for me. You understand me better than anyone else. And now, I can’t imagine not being with you.”
“You make me feel different. You’ve made me mad and sad and so so happy. There have been extremes, and feeling I’ve never felt before, all because of you. And that’s why I love you so much.”
“I forgot how to feel, until you told me you liked me.”
“How did me telling you I liked you teach you to feel again?” Luke asked.
“Because I’d literally shut myself off from everything and everyone around me. I refused to feel anything, because I was afraid of getting hurt. But with you… it didn’t scare me anymore,” Rick nearly whispered, looking down at Luke’s hands.
Luke kissed Rick’s forehead. “Look up at me babe,” he told Rick, a soft smile playing on his lips. “Don’t be scared of feeling. You should embrace hurt, it makes you human.”
“I was hurt when you told me you wanted a break, even though it was good for us. I would’ve been hurt if you’d said no when I asked you to marry me.”
“I was hurt when I kissed you and then you ran away. I would’ve been hurt if you decided you never wanted to see me again after I told you I liked you. It hurt when you cheated on me. Twice.” It was Luke’s turn to look down at his hands.
Rick pulled Luke’s chin up. “I’m sorry I ran away. I’m glad that I liked you back. And you’ll never know how truly awful I feel about cheating on you. I… Words can never express how sorry I am for that. For hurting you,” Rick said, a few tears streaking down his cheeks.
Tears glinted in Luke’s eyes. “I’m…I’m so so happy to have you. I’m so happy to be yours, and yours only.”
Rick kissed Luke deeply, wiping the stray tears on Luke’s face away with his thumbs. “Mine.”
“Forever yours,” Luke said, kissing Rick softly. “Always. I promise.”
“Do you want to have kids?” Rick asked randomly, the thought on his mind since earlier in the day when he’d seen a family at the park.
Luke nodded. “I like the idea of having children. Someone to raise and take care of. How about you?”
“Definitely,” Rick said, smiling. “How many?”
“Two,” Luke said automatically. “Not too many, not too little. They’ll have each other to turn to if anything. They won’t get lonely.” Luke grinned. “I have a whole explanation for two.”
“Well I’m an only child, so I never had anyone to turn to. You don’t have the same type of closeness with cousins as you do with siblings. I want my kids to be close and be able to lean on each other. I don’t want them to be lonely or feel like there was nobody there that understood them.” Luke looked at Rick. “God, it seems weird that I have this all figured out.”
“No, it’s fine,” Rick said, kissing Luke’s nose. “You have the number, I have the names.”
“You’ve got the names? Let me hear ‘em,” Luke said, smiling happily.
“First girl will be Lilyana Lyn, second will be Lucy Anne. First boy will be William Edward, second boy will be Noah Preston,” Rick said, smiling down at Luke. “What do you think?”
Luke’s smile became wider. “I think those names are beautiful.” Suddenly, Luke sat up. “Rick Knight, are you trying to tell me you want to have children with me?”
“Why do you think I asked, you silly muppet? I know it’s far into the future, I mean, we aren’t even married yet. But it’s something to think about, right?” Rick said, looking up at Luke, his hand running up and down Luke’s arm.
Luke slowly slid back down. “Yeah I guess so.” He laughed quietly. “I never thought I would have kids before.”
“Well, we don’t have to if you don’t want to. I just asked.”
Luke shushed Rick gently. “I never thought i would have kids because i never though I would find someone who would want to to have kids with me.”
“Oh. Well, of course I want kids with you. That’s half the reason for getting married isn’t it? One, to be with the one you love for the rest of your life, and two, to make a family with them?”
Luke nodded. “I think that making a family would be great. It seems like we’re building something with Legos though.”
Rick laughed. “Maybe it won’t feel that way once we’re married and done with school. Plus, we have to figure out how we’re gonna go about doing it. Do we want to adopt or get a surrogate… if we want to adopt, we should apply soon. It’s a long process.”
“Having a child takes a long time too,” Luke said. “9 months is almost a year.” He remained quiet for a bit. “Do you think we should do a surrogate? I don’t know, it seems more personal to me.”
“It’s what I’d prefer, if I’m honest,” Rick said. “You can be the father of one, I can be the father of the other.”
“That was what I was thinking. It seems like an almost perfect plan.” Luke cuddled into Rick’s side. “Plus, it gives us more time to us instead of spending time on adoption papers.”
“Very true,” Rick said. He sighed. “I feel like such a grown up right now. I don’t know whether I like it or not. But I’m glad that it’s with you.” He kissed Luke’s forehead. “So, when are we going to get married?”
“You’re not a grown up until you have to stay in taking of someone instead of going out and partying,” Luke sing songed. He sighed. “I’m not sure. Maybe next year? In the Spring?”
“I was thinking maybe next summer, after we finish our first year of University. I can’t decide if I want something small, or something big?”
“Depends on how many people you want there.” Luke counted on his hands. “I definitely want Callum, and of course Flick, we can’t get married without them. And my parents, your mom, and I don’t know how many other people.”
“What about grandparents, aunts, uncles…? And any new friends we meet between now and then, that we get close too. I’ll definitely want Dimitri there,” Rick drifted off, running his hand through his hair. “Mom called me yesterday. She says dad wants to meet up with me and talk.”
Luke studied Rick carefully. “Are you ready to do that? Talk to your dad?” he asked quietly.
“I don’t know. Part of me wants to. I’d love to mend things with him. But at the same time, I hate the way he treated me and mom. I don’t know if I want that back in my life.”
“Talking doesn’t mean inviting back into your life. I think at least being in contact with him might be good.” Luke kissed Rick’s forehead. “You just have to go with what you think is best for you.”
“Luke, he forbid me to be with you. He threatened to take away my home, my mother, my trust fund, simply because I didn’t do what he said. Do you think I want that back in my life? I don’t want to be controlled by him, or anyone for that matter. Well, maybe you. You can control me sometimes. But that’s it.”
“I know, I know… You do what you want. No one knows what’s best for you like you do.”
“I’m sorry, babe,” Rick said, kissing Luke’s forehead. “I didn’t mean to be ugly. I just don’t want anyone to ruin what we have. I’ve done that enough myself already.”
“Rick Knight, are you blind? I am right here. If you had ruined anything, I would be sleeping on a separate bed, in a dorm room, completely ignoring you.”
“I know I didn’t ruin anything permanently, but I ruined things for a while, because I was selfish and stupid. I just… I love you so much. I don’t want anyone to come between us.”
“No one will ever come between us. Not now, not ever,” Luke said, kissing Rick softly. “I’m yours forever.”
“I quite like the sound of that,” Rick said, kissing him back.
“Good, because it’s the truth, and I’ll remind you of it for eternity.
“Why are you so sweet? What did I do to deserve someone like you?”
“I think that is what people call a question wrongly asked,” Luke said with a big smile.
“What do you mean?” Rick said, a quizzical look crossing his face.
“It is not ‘What did I do to deserve someone like you.’ You don’t do something to deserve love, you just receive it. Ask another question.”
“Why do you love me?” Rick whispered, his eyes dropping to his hands.
“I love you because you don’t care about what people think about you. I love you because you are nearly carefree. I love you because you’re headstrong, and you never back down without a fight. I love you because you were the one person who tried to corrupt me,” Luke said with a smile. “And I love you because no mater how many times we argued, we still could get along and play video games, and i could be the biggest idiot around you and you wouldn’t care. I love you for these reasons, and so much more.”
Rick leaned forward and kissed Luke, his arms surround Luke’s frame. “You’re the most flawless person I’ve ever met. I love you so much.”
“I love you too,” Luke mumbled into Rick’s ear. “You cannot imagine how much I do.”
“I’m already imagining the rest of my life with you, and I know it’s just going to be amazing.”
“I know. Ours will be an epic story,” Luke said. He rolled over onto his back, pretending to paint a picture in the ceiling. “Full of adventures, and happiness, and sometimes sadness, and excitement. Everything will be perfect.”
“And someday, we’ll settle down, and have two beautiful children. And you’ll have a library and I’ll have a kitchen. It’s going to be amazing. But you have to promise me something,” Rick said, lying on his back next to Luke, looking up with him.
“What’s that promise?”
“In out bedroom in our house, from now on, we have to have a skylight. So we can sleep under the stars every night. Just like we did in New York.”
Luke nodded. “Deal. Skylight it is.”
Rick turned to look at Luke. “That was a great night, wasn’t it?”
“I recall you running away from me and almost forcing me to sleep on the couch,” Luke said jokingly.
“I was only joking babe,” Rick said, laughing at the memory. “But it turned out quite nice, if I remember. You didn’t sleep on the couch. In fact, I don’t recall us sleeping much at all that night.”
“Mmm me either. I remember staying up for quite a while,” Luke said, blushing a little at the memory.
“Why do you always blush at things like that?”
“I don’t know!” Luke said, blushing even harder. “It just happens.”
“Does our sex life embarrass you?” Rick asked seriously.
“What! No! It doesn’t embarrass me at all.” Luke shook his head.
“Oh. I just thought, from the blushing… Sorry,” Rick said, kissing Luke’s nose. “I quite like our sex life. Although, I wouldn’t die if we had sex more often.”
“Mmm, neither would I. If we did have more…” Luke trailed off, trailing his fingers down Rick’s chest. “I would want to make everything count.”
“What do you mean?” Rick asked.
“Well it can’t just be like ‘oh let’s have sex for the hell of it.’ We have to make count as much as we do now.”
“Well, there’s a difference between fucking like dogs because we’re both horny and making love. I think we can find an even balance.”
“Yeah, that would be good. A nice balance would be good,” Luke said. He cuddled into Rick’s side again. “We’ve been talking for ages. This is nice.”
“I know. But I have to say, I’m getting hungry again. Want a snack?” Rick asked, looking down at Luke.
Luke nodded. “A snack would be terrific, thank you.” Luke sat up, stretching and yawning. “What time is it anyway?”
“The clock says midnight, but it feels later. I’ll be right back,” Rick said. He went into the kitchen and pulled out some crackers and hummus spread. Grabbing grapes from the fridge and two water bottles, he came back and got in bed, cuddling back up next to Luke.
“Midnight snacks in bed. Aren’t we the perfect couple?” Luke said jokingly, reaching for the grapes.
“I’d like to think we’re the perfect couple, despite the fact that we have snacks in bed,” Rick said, dipping a cracker in the hummus and holding it out for Luke.
Luke took a bite out of the cracker. After swallowing, he took a grape and held it out for Rick. “Perfect couple indeed. We should serve as an example.”
Rick sucked the grape from Luke’s fingers and bit down, savoring the slight sourness of it. “Mmm, we should. We should be on a talk show or something.”
“Hello, and welcome to THE PERFECT COUPLE!” Luke said in a loud voice, grinning at Rick. “Tonight’s topic, midnight snacks!”
“Rick has demonstrated the perfect combination of sweet and savory, and has been thoughtful enough to bring his fiance a bottle of water, so he doesn’t get parched.”
“Luke has accepted these thoughtful gestures with a thank you and a kiss,” Luke said, before leaning in to kiss Rick. “Luke also says he loves Rick,” Luke mumbled an I love you, “and promises to repay Rick for his kindness.”
Rick smiled at Luke, putting all the food on their bed side table. He pulled Luke down, wrapping his arms around his neck and kissing him sweetly. “Please tell me you’re off tomorrow?”
Luke smiled. “I am off tomorrow, and I’m not just saying that to make you happy.”
“Good. Because when we wake up, we’re going to have fantastic morning sex, and then, I’m taking you car shopping.”
Luke let out a loud laugh. “I love how you’ve already planned the morning sex,” Luke said with a huge smile.
“Morning sex is the best when you’re off work,” Rick said, smiling up at Luke.
“Mm, well you’re going to have to show me just how good it can be,” Luke said with a smirk, before pulling in Rick for a kiss.
“Oh, I think I can make that happen,” Rick said, kissing Luke back. “But we should probably go to bed.”
“Sleep would be very very good,” Luke agreed, snuggling into Rick’s side.
Rick leaned over and flicked out the bedside lamps. “Good night, my love,” Rick whispered, kissing Luke’s forehead.
