She needed a night to herself - and even though Elena wasn’t someone who loved the atmosphere of bars, it was a place that a great many social events happened here in Las Vegas, and it was somewhere where she could escape into herself, if need be. She sat down at the proper bar tonight, drinking a Negroni - taking small and careful sips - she was more in the mood to people watch. She’d just turned in an important article, and at least had the night to relax before she had to go about thinking about a new one.
Which of course meant that she wasn’t entirely paying attention to the figure who came and sat next to her, until she looked up and startled. “Luke?” She said, looking up. “Hi - didn’t quite expect to see you here tonight. I mean, not opposed, but - never mind. Hi.” She said, smiling at him. “How are you?” She wanted to move her arm over to touch his, but she didn’t want to seem to eager, too ‘thank goodness to see you again, and by the way, your skin is so soft, especially given your profession’. Instead she gave another nod towards him, “What are you drinking?”
“Elena,” Luke grinned, though it was one of his usual crooked ones, accompanied by whatever shot of alcohol he’d taken just before Elena had grabbed his attention. Her words registered with him after a few moments, and he only leaned closer, grinning as she kept talking, “You always just say whatever you’re thinkin’ huh?” He picked up another shot, downing it before he waved the bartender over for another, pushing one towards Elena, “Honestly, babe? Anything that’s pushed in my direction. It’s one of those days, though. I’m fine. How are you doin’? Ya know, in the past few days that I haven’t seen ya.”
