it makes perfect sense that Wifies would be a thoughtful, generally kind apparition for Wato to hallucinate. he represents someone who has been directly hurt by Wato who still loves them and supports them in everything. they wanted comfort, and who better to comfort them than someone who will always forgive them if they fail? but that's not quite what Wifies is to Ken. to Ken, despite getting the same love and forgiveness from him, Wifies is a grave mark of her failures. if she hadn't let her hubris get to her head, if she hadn't fallen into obsession, the domino effect that lead to Evilfies acquiring the mask and causing all the suffering he did wouldn't have happened (maybe. probably. it's easier to blame herself than admit that there is unfiltered evil in people. because if he was always evil, she too could've always been evil. easier to blame herself and in turn blame the mask. he who is afraid of admitting the human capacity for evil and all that). so perhaps, after somewhat selfishly abandoning Wato, if Ken hallucinated Wifies, she would want absolution for what she has doneâ to Wato, to Wifies, to everyoneâ and her version of Wifies would stand there and say, "you know you cannot be forgiven, Ken." and she would know in that moment that he is not real because that's something only Ken would ever say to herself.
the thing is Wifies isn't cruel. not really. outside of UU, when he plays an antagonistic role, he does so in a very precise way; he is a sharpened knife cutting just so to get what he wants. he doesn't seem to derive pleasure from extended sufferingâ he wants what he wants, he wants it done soon, and he wants it done well. if cruelty is necessary for that result, so be it. it really is what connects 24 to his creator. so Ken would know immediately that that isn't Wifies, not really. Wifies wouldn't say that. if he wanted to shame her, he would've done it from the start. only her own mind would conjure up a figment of Wifies that plays both sides. plays friendly, plays cruel. it's a disservice to 24 on purpose because Ken has done a bad thing again, because Ken is cruel and has left a friend behind to do whatever she wants to their detriment. and she won't undo it because she's as stubborn as bull. so it's better to be punished than to admit she's sorry and she'll use the image of someone who would never punish her to do it because it's not enough to just desecrate one friendship
