Hey there! I figured I should probably clarify as I've been asked about it in the past, but feel free to send me asks about Kid Icarus!

They can be asking to explain things, thoughts on characters, etc.

Although, I should note that I haven't actually played the game itself. 😓 I just have a vast knowledge because of how much I look for stuff about this franchise. So, asking about gameplay mechanics won't be getting much from me.

I only remembered this again back in like December because this boy who develops feelings easily was asking me about my lack of crushes, but then I forgot again until maybe last month because he's been pissing me off, and that reminded me of it

til gaol is just an older (mainly british) spelling of of the word jail. gaols name is literally just jail lmao. cause she’s imprisoned in the cursed armor. funny

Makes me wonder if she had a different name when she was a mercenary or if it was just some coincidence or fate sort of thing. Magnus calls her Gaol I think or at least never corrects anyone so that’s kinda funny

Maybe it's like military nicknames. Everybody has one tied to some humiliating or stupid little event or description of them. Gaol is called that because she once got herself thrown in jail overnight when SUPER drunk out in public. If Magnus wasn't his real name, I think a funny backstory for the name could be that he was trying to say something was a "magnum opus" but forgot the word and said "magnus opus" instead.

I absolutely love the 2020's KI community because back then someone would said "yo this ship sucks" and ppl were like "NOOO HOW CAN YOU SAY THAT!!! #FandomInDecadence" "B-B-But the NES American ending!!" and would got downvoted on Reddit or whatever.

You tell a 2020's Kid Icarus fan on Twitter and Tumblr that a ship sucks and they are like "Yeah. We Know" 🗿🗿 🔥

It's because so many of them are straight up bad 😭 people wanna involve Pit or Dark Pit in a ship in a franchise where there's no good pairing for them based on age confusion alone

And then the actual adults we see don't get nearly as much screen time than they could. Let alone with a variety of different characters. We don't get to know their full potential, so ships with them are much more rare

Magnus only ever directly talks to Pit (child), Gaol, and Lord Dyntos (off acreen). He knows OF Palutena and the underworld gods, but not like that. So there's not much you can work off of in terms of established dynamics. And that's just one character as an example 💔

To me, of the Kid Icarus cast, Phosphora feels like one of the easiest characters to place in a modern AU

I should say, the main inspiration I got for this post was listening to this song at school (I tried to upload my own audio file of the song but couldn't figure it out, so Spotify will have to do)

I proceeded to write this post on the bus

Around 17, she's one of those super pretty snd popular girls at high school on the track team. Fastest one there, of course. To the point people say she should do this professionally, but to her it's nothing more than a hobby. She just enjoys being competitive and showing off a little. Honestly, she doesn't take school super seriously, but she's still very respectful toward her teachers and passes.

Her entire closet consists of cute baby tees and booty shorts, super lucky that it never gets too cold in the area. She enjoys some cute earrings here and there, but necklaces and bracelets are more her style.

She's super charismatic and a little sassy, but doesn't let hate get under her skin. Phosphora knows she's got it good. Naturally pretty, fairly intelligent, a reliable circle of friends who would basically do anything for her. It might seem like she should be a bully at the very least, being so high on the social ladder, but that isn't really her style. Sure, she's got beef with some of the dudes at school and likes to poke fun, but never goes too far. 100% chance there's at least one "weird" kid (really just alt or neurodivergent) she knows and defends from hate. She's been raised to hold too much value in her heart for the different kinds of people all out there.

She's got a bit of an awkward home life, though, so she often crashes with whatever friend is willing to let her stay for a couple of nights. Doesn't like staying for too long, of course, but long enough that whatever it is she's getting away from can at least blow over.

Outside of school and home, though, Phosphora has a bit of an obsession with being out and about. Stays out WAY past curfew multiple times, but doesn't really care. Being out there driving super fast, partying until she's covered in sweat and ready to crash for the night. Maybe she's tried a few things here and there she shouldn't, but she knows not to get too carried away with it all. Her life is too good to crash and burn like that.

Music can be pretty subjective, but given the electric guitar in her battle with Thanatos, if we were to further modernize that and add a bit more flare, I can see her listening to songs like the one I provided. Maybe I'm projecting though so who knows.

She is like... REALLY teetering on the edge of Mary Sue territory but it's okay

Was thinking about how much oc info I wanna give for ArtFight and realizing I might accidentally make a giant wall of text for some characters

Then I realized I could probably use my dead ao3 account to post them, linking it for people to read a fic that's really just giving info on each character I decide to add

Then I realized I can just post them here and don't need to try and figure out ao3 for that

With the Starfox remake coming out, my fear that they will horrendously fuck up a Kid Icarus sequel has been amplified. And now they might actually do that sequel??? WHY ARE WE COOKED

I think with how dedicated Sakurai is to his projects, a potential sequel will be fine. After all, Uprising wasn't Nintendo alone, but also Sakurai's company. Like Kirby Air Riders. Between that and smash bros, it's evident to me that Sakurai would pour too much dedication into making sure his baby got the absolute best. He just needs Nintendo to give him a greenlight. Unless they were to hand off the franchise to some other completely new team for zero reason, which given the fact Sakurai was the one who chose to bring back Kid Icarus and Nintendo has barely acknowledged the franchise, I highly doubt that
