Sparkle of Night

Sunlight is both a blessing and a curse - spotted some stray paint on a couple of faces while photographing these sets that I honestly couldn't see with my eyes at first. Still, here's a few shots of this set while I go and get the IPA out and clean them off a bit...

Icebox

It's been a while! I've been very busy with non-resin things this past month or two, but I've finally sanded and photographed all my pending sets. This one was done for a "Sending Stone" challenge on a dicemakers' discord - I was given a choice of taking colour, technique, or theme from a previous maker's set, and making my own set with the one thing I took. I carried forward "Technique - foil & mica" to make this cool-toned blue and silver set, and I'm pretty pleased with them overall.

Works in Progress

I have been... so ridiculously busy lately. Snatching time every couple of days to work on dice - pouring, sanding, inking. Here's some in progress sets. varying from fresh out of the pot to almost done, showcasing my new "chonk" d20!

My compressor broke this week, so I've sort of been in a haze of fixing it (which was not cheap) and also refitting my pot to take the hose on the new compressor. Just a little stressful ^^;

For those who've been asking - my shop is now open, with a few of my older sets on it and more to come! I've not felt comfortable calling anything but my most recent work "A" grade, but it will show up soon enough.

And yes, this was perhaps hurried along by the compressor disaster.

Marsh Water

Nothing gets that grungy swap water look like yellow/green colourshift powder.

This set didn't actually come out looking like I wanted - which happens pretty often. Still looks interesting, though - like the shallow marshy waters, with mud at the bottom and dubiously coloured water at the top.

I need to stop looking at the pictures, though, because I keep spotting teeny tiny issues like missing paint that I then have to go back and fix >>

Space Dust

I love colourshift powder, I do. It looks absolutely gorgeous on dice in your hands. It is also an enormous pain in the ass to photo accurately.

We're on a journey to Real Galaxy Dice with this set! Purple and sparkly and I love them, but not quite where I want to be, so I'm going to be pouring a few sets on this theme until I can nail down how I want them to look.

Crackle

Another of the "not quite right" pour attempts for my partner's rogue. This one incorporates backstory elements instead of class-themed ones, but was deemed too fancy for the character.

They look nice, though! This set is a silver mica powder mixed with brown dye and copper foil. The brown segments are translucent, which makes a really cool effect when you turn it over in your hand.

This was another set where inking colour made me stop and think for a while. Really like the copper, though.

Frozen Ocean

I'm hoping to transition away from alcohol inks in the future, due to concerns about colour fading over a longer time period, but they look really good when you use them right. I also have a minor obsession with colourshift mica powders, which are a pain to photograph but look really good in person.

Thought about inking these in white, but decided against it. Glad I didn't, the dark blue looks really good.

Down In The Deep

An older set, designed for a contest on the theme of sea slugs! The "petri" effect is notoriously difficult to pull off, and this was definitely not the first set I made with this idea in mind, but I got there eventually!

Don't ask me to replicate it. Pretty sure this was just luck.

Fireheart

Gold paint feels like a gimme for inking sets like this, but it's a pain to clean up afterwards. The sunlight makes these dice look gorgeous, though.

I'm in the process of building a DIY lightbox to take individual shots of some of my dice sets. Gotta make my phone's camera work for its keep, after all!

Swamp Ranger

I made this set as part of a series of tests for my partner's rogue in a weekend game. They didn't really work for the character, but they're a nice set overall!

I've seen enough green to last me two lifetimes at this point, though.

A set I made a while back, for a "Nebula" theme challenge. This set is based on the "Pillars of Creation", a nebula with really nice big golden columns. I was pretty pleased with how they came out, to be honest.

Winter Sky Dice Set

The hardest part of dice making is photographing the dice accurately, change my mind.

This set is missing its d12 due to an unfortunate accident. Maybe one day it will turn up again.
