Hunter finally found it in himself to look away from Luna long enough to focus on what Natalia was saying, as soon as he learned their names. He took a long moment after she finished simply to regard her. Observe and nothing more. Finally he straightened up, seeming to have composed himself a little more than the initial moments of their meeting. “You may call me Hunter,” he said. Even speaking with an Alpha it was almost like he was giving her permission to do something. Purely habitual of course for him to have put it that way. He inclined his head once at Luna. “Luna,” he said, in offer of a deft greeting. Though, inwardly he was dying of curiosity.
“If you’re referring to the acres just north of here, then perhaps they went on that land because I had originally claimed it as my own. You first ignored that claim because you believed your pack to be more substantial in size, somehow warranting you right to the area. I suppose for a while I had to concede that, but an Alpha’s claim to a land is to be respected, and I believe we both know that I lay claim to it first.” How easy it was to speak of respecting claims to land but…Hunter’s eyes slipped to Luna. It was obvious the male was entangled in the female Alpha but…Hunter found himself having a problem with that claim too.
“As for bothering your beta, perhaps they simply see that he resembles myself, and had previously mistaken him for me. Or investigated the matter for themselves. As you’re aware, having trusted pack members report to their Alpha any potential problems in the region is invaluable. Knowing when someone resembles your Alpha would fall under that category. Why…this one could do any number of things and be mistaken for me, bringing…fracture to my reputation. An important thing for an Alpha, no?” Hunter peered at her.
“First we must ensure the lands you refer to actually belong to your pack and then we will agree on an arrangement of…mutual distance for prosperity.”
The female alpha felt her blood boil at the mere suggestion that her mate would do anything to tarnish the other alpha's reputation. Up until that point, she'd been respectful and listened to his complaints. It was true she'd led her pack to previously claimed land because they needed more room considering their size. Her pack was large and she would soon be adding an omega to her partnership and there was no way she was going to have her pups raised in a small space. She was sure her mate agreed with her. As she felt Luna tense up against her, her anger only grew. Her precious beta would never do anything to harm anyone even if they were from an enemy pack and she knew full well that he had no idea that this alpha resembled him so much.
"How could he possibly do anything with your reputation when he's only just met you and found out that you look so similar? My Luna would never do anything to harm another person in any way. He's a good boy and I won't have you slander him that way. Your pack should know full well that he's not you considering your scents are most definitely different. He smells of me. If they weren't so busy harassing him, then they would be able to get their heads out of their asses." Natalia was growing angrier the more she spoke. This was not going at all how she'd originally planned and she knew that her anger was making the boy next to her uncomfortable.
At the accusation, Luna felt himself tense further as his mouth opened to protest before closing again as his alpha spoke. While he was sure that Natalia knew he had no idea, he still couldn't help but feel guilty that he looked like this enemy alpha. He wondered if she would still want to be with him now. Would she be able to continue being with him even if he looked exactly like her sworn enemy? Peace treaty or not, he knew she was still going to hate him even if they were civil towards each other. How was he going to be able to stay with her if the mere sight of him made her angry? This meeting was nothing but a mistake...
"Up to the pine treeline is my land. It's required for my future pups who will need a large open space to grow. I would also like for you to make sure that your pack doesn't come around and bother my pack, especially my mate. After this, I won't be tolerating it and I can, and will, bring anyone back bloodied and beaten" she growled low, baring her teeth slightly as she looked at the alpha. She was not backing down about this.
