shaking his head at her squeal, he figured she’d be even more excited about this than darcy or him were, not that he weren’t. “ well it’s called timing luna. this was timed, so that you could be happy. we might just adopt you, you know. be on big happy family. “ he snorts flashing her a smile. “ i’m a lot more than wonderful but thank you, i’ll take it. “ he grins letting her lead him towards the couch as he falls down on it with a grunt. “ would you be up for it? i need to do something after all this shit, i’m overwhelmed, and dying. “

“i love you both too much sometimes. and i think fate does too. feel free to adopt me, but who would i live with? i mean, i already live with darcy so you’d have to come live with us.”  ponders the scenario, though to aid in banter. “you’re grossly wonderful. that should be more than enough.” sits over one of her legs, now somewhat surprised he was actually down. though mostly since she figured he’d want to be with darcy a lot more now. “wait, what shit? did i miss somethin’? but sure! let’s go to mcdonald’s drive thru first and then hit the road.”

but she fails to keep any signs of joy concealed, squealing with a big grin. “finally, though!!! it was about time y’all got together!!! my two best friends, i'm livin’.”  nods brunette crown, relieved sammy was no different from grey or darcy when it came to this, locking arms with his as she led him inside towards the couch. “thanks. you’re wonderful.” not wanting to relive this, she ends the conversation at that. brow hikes up at the obvious thespian in his words, giggling. “should we just go on another adventure now to make up for it? even though it’s literally 2am?”

“you’re so mean to me, i’m gonna tell darcy and she’ll dump you!” she managed to slip that in the conversation, hoping he’ll elaborate more ( though, it’s sammy. so she doubts it ). “oh. depends.... are we still ok? do you....hate me?” there’s a lump in her throat at the sudden mention, sammy being the last of the three people she was worried about finding that out. “of course, you’re the first i’ll text.” she looks up, a childlike grin in her face before pulling back.

“chill, i was obviously talkin’ to a ghost that used to live here. not changing clothes or anything.”  rolls her eyes, opening the door wider to let him in. she hadn’t seen him in a while, and was trying to fight off any extra excitement left from learning the good news about him and darcy. “oh. nowhere. just, ya know, around. you know me and adventures.” but before he can respond, she hugs him tightly, a smile emphasizing dimples. “missed you, sammy!”

      “god, no, it’s fine.” darcy pulls her back in for another quick squeeze. “i’m just glad you’re okay. i really thought something had happened to you, that’s all.” she assures the other that she’s not mad. “anything else? luna, is that about what that blog said about you?” girl would roll her eyes and huff out something that is close to a laugh. “luna, i don’t trust a damn word on that page, and even if it was true – so what? you’ve always been here for me, and i know what kind of person you are, and that’s what matters to me. that’s all, luna.” and after her big spiel, she crosses to the fridge and pulls out a beer. “oh, and i’m not pregnant, just so you know.” she shoots the other a wide grin, thrilled at this news as she twists of the cap and brings it to full lips to take a swig.

this time she wraps her arms ‘round her, feeling a small smile tugging at the corners of roseate mouth. doesn’t respond, sudden tension on every nerve of her body as she brings up the blog, which is quickly relieved ‘pon insouciance dismissal; luna had weighted two possible routes: complete skepticism for whatever she’d say, possible grown dislike and loss of a friend  &  complete disregard for what the blog said and full trust in her. she should’ve figured darcy was the latter, but her inner fears and insecurities blocked that small hope, consequently prompting her to run away from this problem all together. she sighs in relief, feeling her heart beat fast and for a moment she’s quiet. watching darcy walk over to the fridge. “thank you.” she says with a smile, that grew wider ‘pon the information. “i’m glad; i mean, i’d be there for you either way but yeah.” walks in her direction, leaning over the counter as a sudden thought pops in her head. “by the way, how’d it go with sammy?”

Maybe it was insane to love someone so much that you didn’t care what mistakes they made. Cliches and bad ideas had never been his go to when it came to love, but Luna always made him throw everything out the window. There was something terrifying about loving someone so deeply that he didn’t care about anyone else. Then again, there was also something wonderful about it. As she wrapped her arms around his waist, he could only sigh softly and tug her that much closer. His chin resting softly in her hair, his hands rubbing gently down her back, in this moment, there was no judgment. As far as he was concerned, something horrible like that only made Luna more of a victim. “I love you too.” Even in a sad moment, the words brought a small smile to his lips. It was almost like recognition. As if someone was patting him on the back and saying hey, you didn’t fuck it up this time. “I’ll keep listening if that’s what you want.”

she breathes in the sweetness that is his scent, almost overwhelmed by how much she didn’t want to let go. to forever keep him this close, forget reality and simply run away together to a land of stardust and nothing but happy memories. she knows, however, as he mutters those words back, that her desire had reached its peak  --  she wanted nothing but him and his love. in this reality she had that already, so perhaps facing the rest wouldn’t be as terrifying as it once was. so she pulls back, leads them in to sit on the couch, and then tells him everything. how she befriended a girl named ella; how luna never realized that she was ella’s only friend. how ella suffered from deep depression and the one night luna had to cancel plans ( because the ONE DAY her parents took a few couple of hours to spend her birthday with her ) ella decided to end her life. she tells grey about the note ella left behind practically blaming luna for abandoning her; how ella’s parents never blamed her and how their kindness hurt her heart. through tears and only the sound of a weak saccharine cadence, luna finally tells someone about this. she’s glad that someone is grey. giving his hand a squeeze, she wipes the tears away with her free hand. “thanks....for listening.”

      “yeah, she’s like, five feet tall, she’s got brown eyes and -” the door opens, and darcy and the police officer both look to it. “well, that’s her.” darcy said sheepishly, and the cop narrowed his eyes at her, flipping the notebook closed before heading out the door without a word. darcy looked at her roommate and for a moment, was still and silent. then she would move to embrace her. “jesus fuckin’ christ, luna. i was so worried. i thought something had happened to you! i hadn’t seen you in days.” she withdraws, sighing at her a bit. “are you okay? you weren’t in any trouble, were you?”

caramel gaze expands ‘pon the sudden hug that spilled nothing but affection  --  darcy’s words prompting an understanding as to why there was a cop here. right. this is so like darcy; reminds her of grey, neither aware of just how  KIND  they are ( maybe why one is her best friend in the whole world and the other is the boy she’s in love with ). for a moment she stands there, unmoving even as she pulls back, eyes roaming darcy’s gentle sapphires; maybe waiting for the continuation of the questions dropped on her. but nothing followed. silence merely awaited a response on her behalf. the speech she had prepared lest she’s bombarded with questions regarding HER completely gone and instead, luna chooses a simpler approach. “i’m sorry!”  voice quivered, sighing. “i’m all right. i’m sorry...for worrying you...and anything else..”

avoiding this problem has been the easy part. FACING it, however? facing her best friend who might not want anything to do with her after this? her heart was palpitating. she’d managed to only be home when darcy was either out or asleep, dodging her calls and avoiding her texts, but now it was time to face the music. so what if she lost another friend? immediate quiet laugh through sundered mouth ‘pon thought, as if the insouciant act worked to ease her fear. regardless, she opens the door, brows hiking up at the sight  ---  a cop. what in the world---  “um.....what...?”    /  @darcywhittakers

“You’re here.” The words come out like a statement, but he’s really just questioning it. Curiosity had gotten the better of him. Would she come back? Would she call? Would she even say goodbye this time? Or was it just another spark that would fade away? She had left him once before, so maybe this was just another foolish decision to trust her. Maybe it was his fault. Maybe he should have known better. So when she showed up, Grey can’t help but sound surprised. Maybe there’s a little bit of relief in there but only because he knows what it was like to be left behind by her. So he swallowed the lump in his own throat and pushed the door open a bit more. This time, he knows to hear her out. This time, he won’t close the door… because this time? She stayed. And somehow, that’s enough for him. “It’s okay… I know who you are. No gossip, no mistake, nothing could change that.”

if it was even possible, his words only made her fall deeper in love with him. he had yet to hear her side of the story and there was not a single hint of skepticism, of judgment or dislike in his gaze. shit....everything about this boy is just so damn perfect, luna doesn’t know why she’s even surprised anymore. so she strides forward towards him, tugging at his collar to press her lips against his, decisive and somewhat hastened but with no less love than their last one. if anything it was stronger, the rush of fervour working to emphasize her need to portray her feelings. moments pass and she’s pulling back, only meeting his gaze for a few seconds before sun-kissed visage hides in his chest, wrapping her arms around him  ( the height difference considerably larger when she hugs him like this ).  “i love you.”  there was no reason to say it and it was likely not the response he was waiting to hear; still, those words were out before she realized it.  “thank you....for waiting to listen..”

she had not been mentally prepared for this. no. she knew what would come with the decision of ignoring the blackmail, but failed to acknowledge her own personality. how she always RUNS from her problems because that’s just easier. how will darcy and sammy react? will they hate her? more importantly, how does grey feel about this? has it changed his feelings for her? it wasn’t her fault, not technically  ---  but wasn’t it? had luna been there for her that night, had she not once more chosen to oblige to her parents’ request.....maybe she would be alive today. inhales a shaky breath; it’s been twenty minutes now and she’s still right outside grey’s place, pondering on whether to knock on the door or not. god....should she? does she want to face this? she didn’t want to run again, that would make things with grey worse. but there’s a lump of anxiety stuck in her throat that keeps stopping her from knocking. either way, she doesn’t have to; the door opened and wide-eyes meet his.  “......hey..”     /  @greymarks

And just like that— there she was. His eyes had immediately fallen to look at the bare skin she was now showing off. The funny thing was, Luna hadn’t changed at all. Sure, she might have been an inch taller or something but she looked the same. It was almost like looking back in time, seeing something that he never could before. Now that they were finally here, together? He could see it. She was beautiful. It was that exact moment that made all his fears seemingly wash away. Falling in love with a girl like this was far from shocking, but having one love you back? That was like winning the lottery and a game show all in one day. The odds of something so perfect working out was slim. Maybe that’s why it took them two chances. Now that they fought their way back into one another’s arms, Greyson was sure he would do it again and again, just to keep her close. Just to feel her love. gaze glazed with the blur of a fever dream; hits her so suddenly, even as she’s underwater she doesn’t know whether she imagined it or not. sound-omission, left with the echo of his words slipping through satin mind, suddenly afraid to ponder whether something negative would follow. or of wondering if she’d heard wrong; if he had actually meant in the past that no longer fell relevant in the present. kicks sun-kissed limbs towards the surface, moonlit features hastily looking ‘round for him  /  milky complexion velcroed with an unwavering gaze that permeated small sylph with seraphic honesty; she can’t look away. doesn’t even want to. and this time she heard him lucidly clear. pound, pound, pound: well-guarded chrysalis now canting out of its cage  /  quickened heartbeat and hint of fluttering butterflies reserved only for him even years later, having deliberately deprived herself from ever falling for anyone else; nobody but him was worth it. as grey swims towards her, the crowd nearby becomes a symphony of simpers: the heavy rise and fall of dainty bosom, sooty lashes fall closed in sate procession. and oh, how she missed that velved mouth of his, so tender and gentle, as if she were some precious crystalline possession. obliges and wraps arms ‘round his torso, meeting every inch of him as possible under the circumstances. they’re like the moon and ocean, when one leans in the other rises to meet them, aching that propinquity you can’t get with anyone else. her lips only pull back for a few seconds, still hovering under his; wet palm tracing the warm suffusion of his cheek. words alone won’t do. nothing could properly convey the depth of her feelings for him. still, she whispers her response, as if she even had to say out loud for him to understand; as if that smile she carried against his lips didn’t speak for itself.  “i love you too, grey. always.” quietude seizes once again by the press of her lips ‘gainst his -- never again will she let him go.
