╰ ⊰ the initial questions keaton had went unanswered for the prince was otherwise occupied. a routine was being born; more books were being collected checked and compiled in his arms. when he could no longer carry what he uncovered in the mess he turned towards the shelves. it would take a considerable amount of time to replace them all in their original order. he supposed things could have been worse.
it was the rediscovery of the bat that spoiled his attempt to return to normalcy. the rush of wings narrowly missed his pointed ears and the hairs on his nape stood on end. he stood bolt upright, disheveled novels clutched tighter to his armored chest, bewildered eyes upon the chaos.
there was nothing he could do to stop the wolf from pouncing. any protests he made would be too little too late and so he stood crestfallen amid a mess renewed. valiantly he withheld a sigh of a relief when the turbulent scene came to a close. he crossed the room to close the window before the flying prize could accidentally return to the fray. upon turn back to face the clutter he noticed keaton was contributing to it in a different (but not necessarily helpful) way. despite his exasperation kamui spoke calmly, unable to be angry when faced with genuine earnestness. ⊱ ╮
❝ I’D RATHER YOU DIDN’T. Our taste in treasures is… different. It’d be better if you kept whatever you caught. ❞
❛ You humans have weird tastes in treasure. ❜ He commented, scratching the bottom tuft of fur that emerged from one of his large ears. ❛ Nothing smelly, nothing broken, nothing dead... you’re missing out on all the great things in life. ❜
Watching Kamui methodically gather books, Keaton mimicked the action, picking up one heavy looking tome and sniffing it curiously. His lips pursed, this thing didn’t smell too bad. He could smell the horse hide that was used to make the glue that bound the pages together. He flipped the book on it’s side, the pages falling open with small slips of sound. The markings within were nothing like pawprints or the drag of claws upon a tree.
❛ I guess I can see why you keep these though. I’ve seen the mages who use these things and even got zapped by them a few times... ❜ He tried to figure out who one might summon a tornado of fire or a torrent of thunder from this meager object, giving it a bit of a shake. His ears stood at attention, as if ready to jump should some sort of magical essence manifest.
