so i feel like my universe, the Lushverse if you will 😌, is somewhere in between the Matt Reevse universe and the James Gunn universe in terms of realism right?? i want it to be gritty and dark and miserable, but my Ivy DOES have powers. she’s one of a handful of known metahumans in my world, clark kent’s appeared in my fic, and zatanna & wonder woman have been mentioned

but she’s also like an extremely mentally ill unmedicated psychopath who’s fanatically driven towards environmental conservation because how destructive capitalistic society is literally burrows into her mind.

so, how would i depict her in like a matt reeves style universe without powers? well i really really love paul dano’s depiction of the riddler, and i think he’s kind of a byproduct of Gotham City in that film. he was orphaned when his mother was committed to arkham, he struggled in working in the city as a forensics accountant, who was so broken and disenfranchised by the blatant corruption he witnessed that he turned to his violent form of vigilantism, inspired by the batman’s own crusade

one thing i think this hypothetical ivy should share in is that she should be another disenfranchised soul, essentially, like a jaded, already traumatized biophysicist horrified by gotham being this centralized hub for all of these corporations. one of these corporations, maybe even waynetech or whatever bruce’s company is called in that universe, guts or dissolves whatever underfunded lab she works for or turns its efforts away from conservation and it is the final straw that just sends her fully insane.

maybe she could pick up the pieces of the bliss mushrooms sofia falcone tried to turn into a drug empire in The Penguin and reverse engineer it into a full blown pandemic that leaves gotham quarantined? she could even have herself be the patient zero in this circumstance, i feel like she should be grimy and creepy and she should wear a big coat and a gas mask and stumble into gotham city’s biggest courthouse in the midst of a huge trial and be deliriously dancing to Life During Wartime while people are vomiting blood around her

she should find out Batman’s identity and see him as the personification of everything she hates. and ofc she should be gay as hell, let her kiss sofia or selina, or idk give her like a hot blonde doctor when she inevitably gets her wack ass sent to arkham and has to wear one of those big metal hoops around her neck that inmates in that version of Arkham have to wear for some reason

I hope this isn’t annoying to receive but IDK if you’re familiar with King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard but every time I hear their song “I’m in Your Mind” i think of your version of Harley Quinn. I feel like she would love them ❤️‍🔥 (And I think you would too you should check them out)

yeaaaahhhh king gizz!!! ofc she would love them, i love them too! i haven’t really listened to them in a couple years but i was sooo obsessed w them during covid times. i always liked their fun bloopy stuff like fishing for fishies and butterfly 3000 more that the heavier stuff that my gf at the time loved
