Melancholy Mornings// Carl Grimes x Reader.
We’ve been in our new home of Alexandria for about a month now. A pretty little town. Almost too pretty for it to still be standing in a world like this. But how could I complain. I have the love of my life sleeping right next to me, alive, healthy and cute as ever. He looked so peaceful that I almost felt bad about having to wake him. His breathing slow and soft as his warm breath hit my cheeks. I bring my hand up to run my fingers through his hair, swiping it off his forehead. With his freckled face cleaned up, I could finally appreciate how undeniably gorgeous he was. He stirred in his sleep, letting out a soft groan. My legs were on the side of him as I was semi leaning my chest on his.
Carl’s bright blue eyes fluttered open causing a blush a soar across my cheeks. I couldn’t help but to smile. He hummed contently.
“How do you manage to look so beautiful in the mornings?” He asked in his morning voice that had goosebumps crawling my skin. He brought his hand up from underneath my waist and to the back of my head, running down it. This was good. Better than good. Great, actually. There was no where else in the world I’d rather be than in his arms. right now.
“What?” He chuckled. I shrugged, laying my ear to his chest.
“I’m happy” I reply. His lips pressed against my forehead,
“Me too. I wish I could lay here and hold you forever”
“I know, Carl but we have to get up” I push myself up only to be brought back down. He kissed me again, only making it longer. This was a normal thing that happened. His boyish logic is that kissing me will make me forget all about the responsibilities we have for the day.
“Can we stay?” He pouted,
“As much as I wish for that to happen, it can’t”
“[y/n]!” Carl whined like a child.
“I’m taking a shower” I roll my eyes, peeling his grabby hands off of me. Before I walked out of the bedroom I stopped at the door, and peered back at him over my shoulder,
“Coming?”
I’ve never seen someone moved so fast before. He almost fell from being tangled up with the blankets. Scooping me up from behind, caused us both to erupt in a laughing fit.
“I love you” He laughed, kissing me once again before hopping into the shower.
