In the middle of another snowstorm, we have finally arrived at the holy shrine near the peak. Dedicated to the goddess Kyne, it towers over both Markarth Side and Falkirstad at the top of Snowhawk.
Near the peak, we encounter an ancient Nordic barrow. Should we enter the sacred halls or continue our journey to the mountaintop?
The sky clears up, revealing our destination: the peak of the mountain.
We are caught in a devilish snowstorm as we attempt to climb Mount Snowhawk.
A storm is brewing as we finally head towards the winding path to the top of the mountain.
Looking back towards the Reach while approaching the path that will lead us to the peak of the mountain.
As the sun goes down, we are presented with a wonderful view over the Falkheim plains. The pass towards Dragonstar is guarded by an old ruin from the first Empire, covering the horizon.
As we roam around the nearby Falkheim plains, we can see how the entrance to the valley of Falkirstad is guarded by Snowhawk and his little brother.
We wake up the next morning to see the sun rising in a clear sky above the peak. We set out again.
We stumble through the unforgivingly cold snow, trying to find shelter. Finally, we are greeted by the chimney smoke of a lumberjack’s cabin near Falkirstad.
The storm has finally calmed down as we lay our eyes on the view over the Falkheim plains towards High Rock.
Just as we depart, we find ourselves in an emerging snowstorm.
We have arrived at the barrow ruins, and we rest here for a little bit. Among broken urns and fallen stone pillars we find a few coins, gems and even an ancient spear. It has been a successful day so far.
Along the way we encounter a shrine of sorts, where locals appear to pay tribute by laying down small offerings.
Shortly after, we spot the shape of an old Nordic barrow lurking in the distance. Will there perhaps be some loot to reward our exhausting journey around the mountain?
Enjoying our view towards the peak of the mountain, we know that’s where we’re headed next.
We decide to explore the southern foothills of the mountain, rewarded with a beautiful view of Markarth Side.
The sun rises over Markarth Side as we approach Mount Snowhawk from Dragonstar.
