My personal opinion is that you probably shouldnât ask a linguist how to learn a language because a linguist is the sort of person who likes studying esoteric grammar points

I talk about them all the time. the trick is to find someone youâre comfortable with or someone whoâs also not normal about the character.
or you can just be unapologetically crazy.
my take on the "can trans men be lesbians?" thing is that i would never ever comment on a stranger's identity and i would never tell someone i don't know what they can or can't do but also like. come on. if you're explicitly choosing to be a man you can get mad when women don't want to date you.
if you're going into a space where there are women explicitly saying "I do not want men involved in my romance" and you are actively identifying as a man you cannot get upset when they don't want to date you or are uncomfortable with you being there
i also deeply empathize with every trans femme lesbian who has had to watch her existence debated and been seen as a pervert for loving women see most of the lesbian community go "oh yeah you have a vagina, you have the Unbreakable Woman Bond that means we are connected forever" and get a little frustrated about that
Also: do you think a cis man could be a lesbian without identifying as a woman? if not, and you think trans men can, i think you're just speaking from bioesstentialism and maybe don't really think trans men are fully men in the way cis men are
i'm remembering that trans man/lesbian i knew who was mad the girl he was seeing ID'd as straight its like damn maybe you don't really see yourself as a man.
In 2026, the chicest thing a gay actor can do is never explicitly come out as gay but also make it abundantly clear that he is. Coming out is too modern. Staying closeted is too old fashioned. But this method merges contemporary freedom with Old Hollywood glamour and allure, and it weeds out the dumbest people who truly donât get it. I call it the Pascal Method.
Taylor Swift does this
no she doesnât
I'm going to temporarily slow down on forcefemming linux users to instead forcelinux trans people. My girlfriend still uses windows. When I come over to her place I'm going to show up with an installation media and use my feminine charm to make her install linux
when tf did this get a thousand notes
I wanted to add a caption but then I looked at her cute tummy and awawawawawaawawa
this somehow breached containment and as you'd expect from the Reddit crowd the comments are filled with learned incompetence and reactionary takes
linux isn't harder you were just taught to use windows (windows is actually way more complicated once you know both. source I do)
linux has graphical applications for settings and installing stuff and whatever, you don't need to input commands if you don't want to
inputting commands isn't "coding" you just copy and paste 4 words that mean "run as administrator and install [program]"
and if you really do use a program that doesn't have a linux version or wine looks too complicated, that's okay!! just instead of going "NEVER!!" and playing into the Microsoft propaganda, considering saying:
I wish more developers would make their programs compatible with linux
Linux looks really cool, I'm just stuck because of [program] at the moment
fuck you Nvidia for making this harder than it needs to be
Woah that girl is really pretty
I wish that were me đ”âđ«

discussion about right wing radicalisation focuses near-exclusively on men becoming white nationalists but i wonder how it might manifest elsewhere. like, imagine a heavily online subculture of mostly women and they're dedicated to rooting out degeneracy, maintaining a rigid social order, refusing to acknowledge scientific consensus, being violently paranoid of a dehumanised other, adhering to exclusively eurocentric standards of beauty and politically dedicated to exterminating a minority group (possibly one that was already historically targeted for genocide). that'd be fuckin crazy lol
normal thing you say to complete strangers when your brain isn't cooked ^_^
It's amazing how you made a post saying radfems are just like nazis, and then someone went into the comments to call you a slur to prove it.
ive posted on this topic before but you HAVE to be objectum for the robot girl
if you love her just because she's humanshape you're a coward and i want nothing to do with you
I have a mute character in the story Iâm writing and one of my beta readers suggested I use italics when they sign so that I donât have to keep peppering âthey signedâ or âtheir hands flashedâ throughout the piece.
But likeâŠI always read italics in a different tone like theyâre thoughts. It seems quieter than using normal quotations which makes what they say look less significant on the page than other characterâs dialogue.
I really donât think my audience needs me to use completely different punctuation around a mute character. Thereâs no need to act like theyâre speaking a different language since their muteness isnât a focal point in the story.
So really this readerâs comment has done the complete opposite of what they intended. Now Iâm actively taking out as many of my âhands flashedâ notations as possible and just writing in normal body language because, clearly, the other characters understand them and my audience doesnât need to be coddled.
As an HOH reader and writer I can affirm that once the signing has been established it can just be treated like âsaidâ.
You can add little things for emphasis though, like how fast or flippant a sign is given, also a lot of our âpunctuationâ is in facial expressions, so wild looks is kind of normal. Also messing up signs and just.. pushing them aside. Like, you mess up a fingerspell and just take both hands and shove the air in front of you to your side, people who sign eventually end up doing this for other things, like a âforget itâ motion. Itâs like a âwave it offâ gesture.
Body language for someone who signs is a lot more animated than someone who speaks, as we use our upper body a lot in our conversations, so the act of âsigningâ is more than just hand signals.
YesâŠ.yes GOOD this is the good stuff right here. Iâm going to incorporate some of these ASAP ESPECIALLY the pushing the air but to clear it of your mistakes
I have never, and will never, use "ofc" to mean "of fucking course". It literally stands for OF Course...
Happy Pride Month to those two women dancing together in the foreground of the boat scene in Godzilla (1954).
Iâm sorry your romantic foibles were overshadowed by a big ass atomic lizard thing.
out of the tags with you
Um no I'm pretty sure those are both switches
I distinctly remember screencapping this panel x years ago when I first read this and I still haven't worn one yet
There's a somewhat-unstated division in social progressive circles that goes "being socially inept for autism reasons is fine, but being socially inept for regular reasons is bad and mockable." And then in practice everyone assumes it's for regular reasons when it comes up
"No! You gotta resist peacefully because the government thugs who are kidnapping and murdering innocent people in broad daylight... might use your violence as an excuse to start kidnapping and murdering innocent people in broad daylight!"
It's just The Bargain as it appears in the imperial core. Just like First They Came by Martin Niemöller. "Let it happen, and you won't be next." And most of the time, it's more or less true. Life goes on, for you. You eat today and sleep tonight and get offered The Bargain again tomorrow.
And then one day, it's such a surprise when you're next. No matter who you are, there's only so much time you can buy with the lives of your fellow peons. Sooner or later, you're next.
Yes, youâll eventually be in danger too â but that shouldnât be your only or primary reason for fighting fascism. Your primary reason should be that the people who are currently being harmed donât deserve it and need your help.
the treasure map says the ultimate cuteness should be riiight here. i think i found the right spot!
