anything fun from the species survey this year? I love seeing people's sillyness!!

every year is a treat but this year i want to shoutout all the people i recognize from previous years! genuinely i get so happy when i see repeat responses,,, it makes me happy to see people coming back and staying with this project even after 5 years (づ> v <)づ♡

Just wanted to put this here in case it got lost in the void of google forms comment sections. No pressure to reply/post I just want to make sure I can express this to you:

"Albino" is a derogatory and deeply offensive term tied to an incredibly violent usage and history. As it is also often used for animals, it can be very dehumanizing alongside being a term that is often considered to be a slur.

Please consider using the term "has albinism" (or similar person-first lanugage) in the future.

It's clear that you care deeply for others and for cultural sensitivity (such as with "Construct" instead of Golem), and I'm sure that you weren't using this term to intentionally cause harm. I just want to express the importance of not using this terminology, as it causes harm individually and for the community at large. Some individuals view "albino" as an acceptable term for themselves, or have reclaimed it, but this is not generally reflective of the broader community. Person-first language is not appropriate for all things, but in terms of discussing albinism it typically is.

Could I perchance ask for a status update on the data processing from the species survey?

the data’s actually all processed for the survey itself! i still gotta do the slide formatting and additional comments but the reason it’s taken so long is bc i wanna do some additional data to celebrate 5 years

HOWEVER that’s taking a lot more time than i expected bc i am bad at stats so i think i’m gonna push it back and just get it done when i can. which is to say expect this year’s results by the end of the week probs 👍

we’ve been told twice now that someone will be showing up to fix our shit. they have failed to show up both times. fuck my stupid yaoi life 😭
