๐พ๐ 3 : โI HOPE YOU KNOW THAT I NEVER STOPPED CARINGโ
Max quietly brushed her teeth while looking at herself in the mirror. She came to the sudden realization that she was now in a timeline where the primary source of harm was gone. Max spat out her toothpaste, and swished some water in her mouth, spitting that out as well. She decided that she was going to visit Joyce and David since Chloeโs funeral was in a few days. Her and Davidโs last interaction was not long ago, but it had been โa whileโ since she last saw Joyce. That guilt of leaving Chloe behind was there. Especially since Chloe ended up dying thinking that Rachel and Max betrayed her. She shut her eyes at the thought of it. No. She couldnโt let it get to her. Whatโs done is done.
She collected herself as she exited the girlโs dorm bathrooms. Maxโs hair was still damp from her shower. She turned the corner to go to her dorm to see Dana leaning against the wall scrolling on her phone. Dana looked up at Max, a smirk plastered on her face.
โMax, Max, Maxโฆโ Dana shook her head โYou think you can get away with having a boy in your dorm late at night without me knowing?โ
Max rolled her eyes โOh cโmon Dana, you know me and Warren couldnโt do anything like. We were justโฆ catching up.โ
โYou had Warren Graham over!?โ Dana laughed โCatching up, oh man, thatโs good. I knew you guys had something for each other. โSpecially after he had a folder on his flash titled โMaxโ. Shoulda knew it was him.โ Dana scoffed as she continued to look at her phone. Max couldnโt help but grin. Dana was always supportive and active in her life even if they werenโt super close, or had different social statusโs. She slid past her to get to her dorm.
Max skimmed through her wardrobe, pulling out a black cardigan, a white t-shirt, sage green cargos, and brown boots. Her dorm hallway was awfully quiet, with only the sound of her boots clicking against the carpet breaking the silence. Max walked herself down to the bus stop, waiting for a couple of minutes until she, yet again, heard that familiar voice call her name.
โMAX! Whatโre doing by the bus stop?โ He lowered his volume as he got closer to Max โIf you wanted a ride, you couldโve just asked me.โ
โThanks Warren,โ she looked down at her shoes โItโs just some business with Chloeโs mom, I didnโt want to involve you in this..situation.โ
Warren shook his head. โYou should know you donโt have to worry about that. Cโmon I wanna show you my new wheels.โ He patted Maxโs shoulder.
โNew wheels, huh? Iโm interested.โ Max managed a faint smile. Warren grinned and led her towards the parking lot. When they reached his car, Maxโs eyes widened in surprise. โCool. Very old school.โ She acknowledged.
โ1978 to be exact. Itโs not just for show, though. I thought itโd be nice to do something with you thatโs a bit more fun after everything thatโs happened.โ Warren said. That sentence almost gave Max dรฉjร vu. She slid into the passenger seat, and Warren took the driverโs side, starting the engine.
They had been driving for a couple of minutes with Max giving directions every now and then.
โWas your morning okay?โ Warren asked, glancing over with a mix of curiosity and concern. Max took a deep breath, staring out at the passing scenery.
โYeah, yeah. Itโs justโฆ a lot to take in. And in this timeline, the last time I saw Joyce was when I was 13. I need to talk to someone who knew Chloe as well as I did.โ
Warren nodded, his eyes on the road. โGotcha. Iโm sure her mom will be more than happy to see your face.โ
Max let out a chuckle, still looking out the window. โI sure hope youโre right.โ
. . .
They both walked up to the creaky porch. Max inhaled her nervousness and knocked on the door in a rhythmic pattern. Joyce could be heard approaching them.
โIโm real sorry, but we are very busy at the moment-โ She said, turning the doorknob. She shuddered upon opening the door. โO-oh my god.โ Joyce choked โMax? Is that, you?โ
Max was surprised that Joyce recognized her right away. She nodded. Joyceโs eyes welled up, her hand still frozen on the doorknob.
โCome in, sweetheart,โ Joyce finally whispered, stepping aside. โPlease.โ
Max stepped into the house that felt at once familiar and foreign.
โI canโt believe it,โ Joyce said, leading Max into the living room. โYouโve grown so much. But those eyesโstill the same.โ
Max sat on the edge of the couch with Warren.
โI wasnโt sure youโd remember me.โ Max said fragilely. Joyce gave a soft, breathy laugh.
Joyce shook her head. โChloeโs gone, Max. I still canโt believe it.โ
โI know,โ Max whispered. โThatโs why Iโm here.โThere was a short pause. โI wish weโd stayed in better touch,โ Max admitted. โLife justโฆ kept happening.โ
Joyce nodded. โIt always does. I donโt blame you. We all had to move on, one way or another. Stillโฆโ She exhaled, rubbing at her eyes. โWhen I heardโwhen they called meโI thought of you. Now donโt ask me why. I guess I knew, if anyone would feel this like I do, itโd be you.โ
Maxโs throat was tight. โI do.โ
Joyceโs gaze dropped to her tea, her fingers tapping lightly against the mug.
โI donโt expect the funeral to be large. I didnโt invite many people. Maybe some kids at Blackwell could show up.. but, sometimes itโs easier to carry it alone.โ
Max shut her eyes and swallowed her thoughts โJoyce, you are so strong. I canโt even begin to imagine the things youโve been through. Me, David, and my friend Warren are going to be here with you no matter what happensโ Warren gave a sheepish smile and raised his hand to gesture โhiโ.
Joyce then shifted, reaching beneath the coffee table. โWhen I was cleaning her room last night, I found something I thought you wouldโve liked. That is, if you showed up again.โ She pulled out a worn shoebox, its corners soft with age. โI think sheโd want you to have this.โ
Max hesitated, then gently took the box into her lap. It was heavier than it looked โThank you,โ she said.
Joyce gave a nod. โTake your time. Iโll be in the kitchen if you need anything.โ
As Joyce stood and stepped away, Max ran her fingers over the lid of the box. Warren curiously glanced at the old shoebox. Max slowly opened the lid. Inside were scattered memories: a stack of Polaroids, a few ticket stubs, and a cassette tape with โMAX <3โ scrawled in black marker.
Warren peered over, leaning in slightly. โIs thatโฆ her stuff?โ
Max nodded, fingers brushing the edge of the Polaroids. One on top was of them. Her and Chloe, mid-laugh, caught in motion at the Two Whales diner, with a blur of ketchup in the corner. Max remembered snapping it right before Chloe dropped a french fry down her shirt.
โSheโฆkept these?โ Max murmured. โEven after all the time I was goneโฆโWarren said nothing, just sitting in quiet support. She turned over the cassette, frowning slightly. โI donโt even know if thereโs a way to play thisโฆโ
Joyceโs voice chimed in from the kitchen. โThere should be an old player in Chloeโs room. Top shelf. Still works last I checked.โ Max stood, clutching the tape like it was fragile. She looked to Warren. โDo you mind?โ
He shook his head and smiled. โGo. Iโll always be here.โ
Chloeโs door was closed. When she opened it, the rush of air that greeted her smelled faintly like patchouli and smoke.
It looked like someone had tried to tidy up, but the essence of Good olโ Chloe was still there. The punk rock posters, the messy desk, and the chipped nightstand with a few missing drawer handles.
Max found the player on the shelf. She wiped away the dust with her sleeve and popped in the cassette. The static crackled for a second before the tape began.
โHey dumbass,โ Chloeโs unmistakable voice broke through. โIf youโre hearing this, congrats, youโre snooping. But also, youโre probably Max, and you probably miss me. So I guess this is for you.โMax sat down slowly on the edge of the bed. โI donโt know whatโs gonna happen to me. I mean, I pretend like Iโm invincible, but we both know thatโs bullshit. So, this is my way of leaving you something real. Something that's mine. I know we had our shit, Max. I was madโฆ. But I felt betrayed. So if youโre listening, I hope you know that I never stopped caring.โThe tape paused for a beat.
โI was just scared. I was scared of being left again. But youโฆ you really saw me. And I hope wherever we ended up, youโre okay. You deserve that. You always did.โ
The tape clicked softly as it ended. Max stared at the wall, frozen. She didnโt cry right away. Instead, she stood, looked around Chloeโs room, and whispered, โIโm sorry, Chloeโ
Downstairs, Warren looked up as Max returned. Her face was pale, eyes a bit red, but she stood straighter. He didnโt ask what was on the tape. Instead, he just opened his arms slightly. Max didnโt hesitate. She stepped into the hug. Joyce was sitting at the kitchen table now, quietly nursing a cup of lukewarm tea. Her eyes lifted as Max entered the room.
โYou okay, sweetheart?โ Joyce asked, her voice soft and lined with concern.
Max nodded, then shook her head, then gave a soft, conflicted laugh. โI donโt know,โ she admitted.
Joyceโs eyes softened as she stood up slowly, resting her mug down with a careful clink. โItโll be alright dearโ
โIโllโฆbe at the funeral Joyce.โ Max composed herself
Warren gave a small cough, then stood to give them space. โIโm gonna step outside. Let you two talk,โ he said, heading for the porch.
Joyce glanced after him, then winked back to Max. โHeโs a good one. Youโd better keep him around for a little bit.โ Maxโs jaw dropped slightly, and pretended not to know what she was talking about.
โIโmโฆ really happy I got to talk with Joyce.โ Max stood awkwardly, with a hand on her shoulder.
โOh, me too dear come here.โ Joyce went in for an embrace, and Max hugged back.
โIโll see you later.โ Max smiled and waved goodbye. Max stepped out onto the porch with the shoebox cradled in her arms. Warren was leaning against his car, fiddling absently with his keys. He looked up immediately when he saw her.
โYou good?โ he asked quietly.
Max hesitated, then nodded. โYeah. I think I needed that.โ
Warren opened the passenger door for her without another word, and she slid in, carefully setting the shoebox on her lap. The car creaked slightly as he got in beside her and turned the ignition. They pulled away from Chloeโs home, and for a few minutes, neither of them spoke. Max leaned her head against the window, watching the trees blur past.
โI heard her voice for the last time, Warren.โ Max muttered. Warren suddenly regained his focus to listen to her. โShe..she said she never stopped caringโ her voice suddenly got very shaky.
Warrenโs grip tightened on the wheel just slightly, not out of tension, but focus. โHey, hey itโs okay. I know how much she meant to you. That counts for something.โ
โIt counts for a lot,โ Max took a breath โThank you.โ She chuckled through her blur of tears. โAlso, donโt go to the funeral if you feel like you have to. Itโs gonna be really heavy and you donโt owe me-โ
โIโm not going for you,โ he said, then paused, rephrased. โWell, okay, I am. But not because I feel like I have to. I want to be there. You shouldnโt have to go through this alone.โ
Max looked at him a longingly, then turned her gaze back out the window. โThank you,โ she said again, quieter this time. The words hung there between them, more meaningful now.

Max shut the door quietly, the soft click echoing behind her. She exhaled in relief as she was (hopefully) free from all the chaos of her ability. Warren sat comfortably on the edge of her bed. Max rubbed her forehead while he adjusted himself.
โIโve got a terrible headache.โ Max muttered to herself as she walked over to Warren, who was studying her room. She slouched herself next to him and lied down. โItโsโฆ a lot Warren.โ
"I'm all ears," Warren said, raising his hands to his head in a gesture of openness.
โIt really did all start in Mr. Jeffersonโs class today, technically-โ
โThat much happened between then and now?โ Warren blurted, as he lied himself down next to Max, his head lightly bumped the wall. Max giggled looking at the boy who was completely oblivious to his surroundings prior to him surveying her room. He mouthed a โSorryโ due to the fact he not only cut her off, but he caused himself to be a distraction by doing something as simple as lying down next to her.
โNot even close.โ Max replied, staring up at her ceiling while Warren continued to gaze at her. โI woke up from this terrible vision in his class of a tornado hitting Arcadia Bay. I went to the bathroom in hopes to, yโknow, refresh myself, but instead saw my best friend Chloe get shot by Nathan.โ
Warren nodded, looking somewhat confused as he wasn't aware of any connection between Max and Chloe.
โBut thenโฆ I woke up back in his class as if it was just another bad nightmare. I went back to the bathroom, and sure enough, saw Nathan pull out a gun and pressed it against Chloe. I hit the fire alarm to help Chloe to escape. But this time, it was real.โ Max explained
"But there was no fiโฆ" Warren's puzzled expression suddenly dropped as realization dawned on him. Max shot him a look. "Shut up," Warren said, eyes wide open.
โI can rewind time, Warren. I did it just earlier today, when Chloe got shotโฆagain.โ Max exhaled. Warren jaw was dropped.
โIf you can rewind time, how come you didnโt save Chloe from being shot again?โ Warren asked eagerly, turning to face Max. She turned herself aswell.
โChloe thinks it was her fate. To die. Every time I used my powers, it always impacted me no matter what I chose. Itโs what started that storm. Cause, and effect.โ Max lied down on her back. โItโs what helped us find Rachel though. But now, I donโt need to because.. Chloeโs dead, and Nathan โfessed up to what Mr. Jefferson made him do. Chloe sheโฆ she was my best friend when I was younger and, she was again ever since she picked me up while you were getting your ass beat by Nathan.โ Warren side eyed Max.
โI got my ass beat by Nathan Prescott?โ Warren guffawed. Max joined in with laughter and playfully punched his eye, mimicking how Nathan had done it.
โYou had a black eye on your left side the whole timeโ Max giggled looking at Warrens unamused expression. He shook his head.
โNo way.โ Warren crossed his arms. Max struggled to contain her laughter. Warren uncrossed his arms and planted his fingers in his hair. He glanced at Max.
โGod, I really do have a lot to tell you.โ Max sighed and closing her eyes briefly. โIโm getting comfortable first, and so should you.โ Max stood up and began rummaging through her closet.
โOkay, Iโll be back.โ Warren said in a hushed tone, discreetly opening and closing Maxโs dorm room door.
. . .
Warren returned a few minutes later with two mugs of warm black tea, carefully balancing them as he closed the door behind him with his foot. He handed one to Max, who had settled back onto her bed against her wall.
"Thanks, Warren," Max said with a small smile, accepting the mug gratefully.
Warren sat down beside her again, setting his own mug on the bedside table. "Please continue.โ he took a sip of his own drink. "What else has been going on? You talked about finding Rachel?"
Max nodded, taking a deep breath before diving into the story. "Yeah, after everything with Chloe and Nathan, me and her pieced together clues that helped find Rachel."
โYou helped her find Rachel? Thatโs so awesome! Was she okay?โ Warrenโs expression lit up as Maxโs smile faded.
โNot quiteโฆโ Maxโs voice was a little hoarse as she continued to explain.
Warren listened intently, occasionally nodding or asking a question for clarification. As Max retraced of what had happened the past weeks โ the horrific event of Kate Marsh, the discovery of the Dark Room and how it impacted her โ Warren's admiration for her only grew.
He could only think about how traumatizing it mustโve been for her to have to live through that.
โYeah, and then I went Two Whales to find you and it was WRECKED, let me tell you. It even almost blew up.โ Max emphasized โYou were gathering first aid supplies while Joyce was helping the others. I was asking you for the photograph from the party, and before I left we-โ Max quickly shut her sentence down โIโฆ went back to tell Chloe it was no use because Nathan wasโฆ already dead.โ
Warren nodded as he was jotting down mental notes of every detail of the story Max was sharing. He was curious what she wouldโve said before she abruptly ended her sentence. Max continued to share her story until it had reached to present day. There were bonuses of her and Chloe as children, and the nightmare she had before she was at the top of the cliff near a lighthouse.
Warren was left speechless after listening to everything she had experienced. If he was shocked, he couldnโt even begin to imagine the depth of what she had gone through.
"That's incredible, Max," Warren said softly "You've handled things that have been so difficult, a-and you showed it all with a lotta braveryโ
Max shrugged, a modest smile playing on her lips. "I had good people helping me. Chloe, even when things were tough between us, was always there. And you," she added, looking at Warren with genuine gratitude "You've been a great friend too, Warren. I wouldn't have made it this far without you."
Warren blushed slightly, scratching the back of his head. "Hey, I'm just glad I could help in any way I could. And I'm here for you, Max, no matter what."
โThank you, Warren. Iโm glad that we could spend some time togetherโ She leaned over him placing her mug next to his. They sat in a comfortable silence, with Max resting her head on Warren's shoulder. She became self-aware of how late it had gotten. "Oh my god, Warren, it's late. You should head back to your dorm," she said, face-palming.
โHoly shit! Youโre right!โ He ripped the blankets off himself and put his shoes on. Max stood up near the door to wish him a goodbye. Warren cracked the door open. โHey Max, if I get caught do you think you could use your powers one more time?โ He pleaded. Max crossed her arms and leaned on the door frame.
โI can make an exception.โ She chuckled weakly. Warren grinned.
โThanks doe.โ He whispered and ruffled the top of her head. Max playfully rolled her eyes at her given nickname.
โIโll see you in the morning Warren.โ She smiled as she closed the door behind him.

๐พ๐ 1 : ๐๐๐๐ผ๐๐๐๐๐ฟ
Overlooking the cliff on Arcadia Bay, Max and Chloe were witnessing the apocalyptic storm raging around them with terrifying intensity. Dark clouds churned overhead, lightning split the sky, and the wind howled, threatening to tear everything apart. Waves crashed violently against the rocks below, while debris flew through the air like deadly projectiles. The air was thick and almost humid with the smell of rain and burnt electricity, as the ground trembled beneath their feet with each thunderous boom.
Chloe's blue hair whipped wildly around her face, her eyes wide with a mix of fear and disturbance. Her usually defiant posture was tempered by uncertainty, her gaze locked on Max. Max, her expression solemn and determined yet fraught with the weight of her powers. Her eyes glowed with a faint blue light as she struggled to comprehend the chaos around them, scanning for any sign of a way to end the cataclysm.
Maxโs eyebrows pinched together in worry and grievance as she took in the destruction that was caused due to her manipulation and abuse of her own power. She looked at the tornado angrily
โThis is my storm. I caused thisโฆ I caused all of thisโ Max cried out โI changed fate and destiny so much thatโฆ I actually did alter the course of everything. And all I really created was death and destruction!โ She took a few steps forward, observing the hurricane as raindrops splashed on her face and her soaked, messy hair. Chloe turned Max around.
โFuck all of that, okay? You were given a power. You didnโt ask for itโฆ and you saved me! Which had to happen, all of this didโฆ except for what happened to Rachel.โ Chloe aggressively assured Max โBut without your power, we wouldnโt have found her! Okay so youโre not the goddamn Time Master, but youโre Maxine Caufield. And youโre amazing.โ Both locked eye contact and were silent for a brief moment until Max had looked off into the horizon of the storm. โMax, this is the only way.โ Chloe handed Max the photograph of a Morpho butterfly on a bucket, shortly before Nathan threatened Chloe with a gun in the girlโs bathroom.
โI-I feel like I took this shot a thousand years ago.โ She locked her eyes on picture.
โYouโฆyou could use that photo to change everything right back to to when you took the pictureโ Chloeโs voice cracked โAll that would take is for me to.. to..โ She began to sob into her hands.
โFuck that!โ Max quickly cut her off โNoโฆno way! You are my number one priority now. You are all that matters to meโ She comforted. Chloe removed her hands from her face revealing her glossed face and red tinted eyes.
โI know. You proved that over and over again. Even though I donโt deserve it.โ Chloe bawled โIโm so selfishโฆnot like my mom. Look what she had to give up and live through. And she did. She deserves so much more than to be killed by a storm in a fucking diner!โ She shouted โEven my s- my stepโฆfather deserves her alive. Thereโs so many people in Arcadia Bay who should live. Way more than me.โ
โDonโt say that! I wonโt trade you!โ Max persisted
โYouโre not trading me. Maybe youโve just been delaying my real destinyโ Chloe argued โLook at how many times Iโve almost died or actually died around you. Look whatโs happened in Arcadia Bay ever since you first saved me. I know Iโve been selfish, but for once I think I should accept my fateโฆ our fateโฆโ She put her hand on her shoulder. Max shook her head in denial.
โChloeโฆโ She wept
โMax, you finally came back this week and, you did nothing but show me your love and friendship. You made me smileโฆ and laugh, like I have done in yearsโ Chloe sense that Max was staring at her quite somberly, as if she was starting to sense the outcome โWherever I end up after thisโฆ in whatever reality all those moments between us were real, and theyโll always be ours. No matter what you choose, I know youโll make the right descision.โ She exclaimed.
โChloe, I canโt make this choice!โ Max wailed. Chloe rested both of her hands on Maxโs and stared at her determination.
โNo Max,โ The tone of Chloeโs voiced quickly softened โYouโre the only one who canโ. As tear on Chloeโs waterline sunk back into her eye, a new one formed on Maxโs. She stayed silent as Chloe awaited on her decision. โMaxโฆItโs time.โ She lowered her hands and backed away.
โChloeโฆIโm so, so sorryโฆ Iโฆโ She apologized โI donโt wanna do this!โ Chloe wrapped her arms around Maxโs neck
โI know, Max. But we have to. We have to save everybody okay?โ Chloe released the hug โAnd youโll make those fuckers pay for what they did to Rachel. Being together this weekโฆ it was the best farewell gift I could have hoped for. Youโre my hero Max.โ
โOh ChloeโฆIโm gonna miss you so muchโ They went in for another hug in the midst of chaos as pieces from buildings swirled around them. Chloe let go of Max.
โIโll always love you. Now get out of here, please! Do it before I freak.โ Chloe laughed at the end of her cry โAnd Max Caufield? Donโt you forget about me.โ
โNever.โ Max shook her head. She pulled the photograph out from her left hand, and focused on the image. Everything blurred into a haze, then went blank. Suddenly, Max found herself transported back to the moment she had taken that photograph. A click of the camera produced an instant photo from it. Max let go of the photo, watching it drift onto the cold tile floor. She peeked over the bathroom stall, awaiting to see Nathanโs break in. The door swung open violently, prompting Max to swiftly turn and press herself against the wall, out of sight. Nathan began frantically muttering to himself in the mirror, only for Chloe to confront him, leading to an argument between them. Max leaned herself up against the wall slowly sliding down, allowing the situation to play out. She knew what to expect next when she heard Chloe order him to put his gun away. The gunshot made Max flinch, sending a ring through her ears. Blood from Chloeโs wound quickly spurted out as Nathan desperately tried to wake her lifeless body up.
David Madsen barged in with an armed gun, his body almost going limp once he saw Chloe on the floor. He looked up to see Nathan with his arms up, begging for mercy.
โSon of aโฆโ David dropped his weapon and lunged himself onto him. Nathan braced himself to soften the impact. David put him in handcuffs promptly, only to see Max sniveling in the corner of the bathroom. His eyes softened with sympathy as he pulled a walkie-talkie from his belt โPrincipal Wellsโฆโ he sucked in his tears โCome to the bathroom. A..And bring some officials. Please.โ There was a faint echo from the beep of his device. Max felt as if it was safer to cry as much as she wanted. There was no one to hurt her. Not Nathan, and definitely not Mr. Jefferson. David stood up next to Nathan. โWeโre umโฆweโre gonna let the real cops handle this.โ He huffed, nudging Nathan with his foot โAnd the paramedics, theyโll take care of Chloeโ. He wiped his eyes, doing his best to keep his composure in front of Max. โCโmon kiddo, follow me.โ He assisted Max to her feet while she used her jacket sleeve to wipe away the tears from her face.
David shielded her as they exited the bathroom. Authorities and students crowded the area, their murmurs and chatter filling the air from all directions. He took them to a more open area, with only a few questionnaires continuing to follow them.
โMax? Hey! Max!โ Max recognized that voice. She looked over her shoulder to see Warrenโs head poking through at what had seemed to be her peers.
โWarren!?โ She weakly called out, still latched on to David
โMAAAAX! HEY! Iโm right here!โ Warren started hopping up and down making himself visible
โWarrenโฆโ Max smiled broadly. Warren squeezed himself through the narrow crowd of students. Max and David both fully turned around together as Warren finally made his way through the maze of students. Max let go of David. โOh my god..โ She clung herself tightly around his torso. Warren then wrapped his left arm around her neck leaving his right hand to hold her head. Warren pulled away with both hands being on Maxโs shoulders.
โMax, what happened? Are you okay?โ Warren asked worriedly. Max studied Warren's features as they locked eyes. It had then it her that this was the boy she had kissed during chaos. He was the one who had assisted her with science tasks and stood by her side, yet he had no memory of any of those moments. This only made her more upset.
โOh, Warren!โ She blubbered. She buried her head into his shoulder and cried loudly. David awkwardly backed away and cleared his throat.
โWarren, correct?โ He raised his eyebrow. Warren nodded patting Maxโs back as she cried. โOkay, well uh, I think Iโll let you two go now.โ He assertively tipped his hat. Warren gave him a thumbs up and watched him walk away. Warren and Max slowly broke away to see the commotion. Police sirens could be heard coming directly from the entrance of the school. Two police officers were escorting Mr. Jefferson down the stairs. Max found relief in seeing him taken into custody as soon as they could. They turned back to one another.
โYou have some serious catching up to doโ Warren chuckled softly. Max smiled, resting herself on him.
โI know, Warren.โ
