A friend of mine made this beautiful Blade cosplay The first time they wore it at a con, we didn’t meet since I was inside helping a friend with tabling, and they were outside in the park the whole day. The second time they wore it at a con, I had to cancel due to health issues. But now we finally managed to make the stars align and had a little photoshoot ദ്ദി ˉ͈̀꒳ˉ͈́ )✧

Another small photo set of my Miku cosplay. We went to a super tiny local con recently, and I decided to wear her since I wasn’t able to do so at the big con we’d planned to go to last year (I had an emergency and was in the hospital back then orz)

Okay, where to start? I waited 16 years to finally do this cosplay. This version of Miku has always been my dream cosplay. I don’t really know why, but my brain latched onto the idea of Dark Woods Circus. It was definitely one of my special interests as a teenager, and honestly, I never really got over it.

Back then I was too scared to cosplay it. On one hand, I worried I wouldn’t have the skill to pull it off, and on the other, my weight always held me back. The cosplay scene (at least the circles I was in) wasn’t nearly as body positive back then. (I actually weighed less than I do now and still got some really nasty comments)

Even today I still feel anxious especially because of my weight, but it felt like a now-or-never moment. And while it isn’t perfect, I worked really hard on it. I patterned and sewed the whole thing myself. Even though you can’t see them, I also tried making the fawn legs. All the patterns I drew myself, then cut with the plotter, though the flock foil was a bitch so I ended up fixing most of it by hand. I also stitched beads onto the corset (and I plan to add more to the rest later, but the con was approaching and I had no time). At this point I also want to give a big thank you to @luvya-cos and @randombee-cos , who helped me with so many things (like making a duct tape leg cast) and supported me mentally through it all. And of course, @luvya-cos also took this photo at the con we went to!

Lastly, I suspect this will just get buried on Tumblr and no one will read it (except maybe Juls and Mitchy (love you guys <3)) But if anyone does stumble across this please let me be your motivation to finally do the cosplay you’ve always wanted to. It will be fun, and it can be incredibly cathartic.

I just finished some props for the Asrian shoot with @luvya-cos and @randombee-cos next week Our little inside joke is that my secret talent is making fake leeches this is my... fourth batch I think? Arcana makes you do weird stuff xD The "blood" isn't the best this time and it’s the first time I’ve made some that aren’t just kept in jars, so eh But I wanted to make them more holdable
